    Hi Alex , quick question,at what weight did you start running?im trying to get to that 150 range.thank you

    • @turbonetic777
      @turbonetic777 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question, I believed I was at 190-180lb mark can’t remember. What I would say is listen to your body. If you are walking at a fast pace and you feel good, don’t feel like you are gasping and your legs feel good you can start running and walking to start building more muscles and more endurance. What I did in the beginning was the 1 to 1 ratio using mailbox. I ran to 1 mailbox then I walked to the other then ran, to the next mailbox and walked to the next mailbox. Did this for a week then increased the running to 2x mailboxes and walked 1x. You can of course tailor this to your comfort. It will be normal to have sore knees, feet, calves, quads and glutes when you first start to run as you will be using muscles you haven’t used in a long time. Do lots of stretching before and after also get you a foam roller to help with running soreness. FYI: When you start to rolling it’s going to be very uncomfortable and will hurt but believe me, it’s like a deep tissue massage, hurts while doing it but feels great once done. Keep me posted on you progress and check out videos on TH-cam on starting to run and stretching. There are lots of great video’s out there. Keep me posted and reach out if you have more questions. Best of luck, and You are and will do great!! 😃😊

    • @turbonetic777
      @turbonetic777 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can eat anything and everything!! Just small portions. Now too much sugar and carbs will give you lots of gas and can send you to the toilet. I refuse to call it dumping bc that’s more for with gastric by-pass. We have our duodenal switch, they don’t which is why they dump. It’s awesome that eventually we can eat more normal food but it’s bad bc it’s due to our non food control and poor choices that got us into this WLS journey. So it’s a double edged sword.

    • @turbonetic777

      Hello Fredy, First and foremost welcome to the Ds’rs bench 😃 Even though sounds like you are going through discomfort remember it’s temporary and will get better!!! Great question regarding vitamins. So they recommend that you the vitamins 3 times a day. However I’m in the medical field and have a hard time finding time in between the day so I take all of mine at one time in the morning except the Calcium bc You have to wait 2 hours after you take the initial vitamins bc the calcium will cause your body to block the Iron intake. These are the vitamins I take. 3x Bariatric Advantage ultra multivitamins with iron 3x Ferrous Sulfate 325mg Iron supplement ( Pharbest brand on Amazon) 3x B12 5000mcg ( kirkland/ costco brand) 3x Biotin 10,000 mcg ( springvalley brand) After 2 hours have past from the time I took the initial vitamins I take my final vitamin 3x Citracal Maximum Plus Calcium with D3, zinc, copper and magnesium. ( I buy these at Walmart) Thank you for watching my videos, I’m here to help in anyway I can. I know you’re in pain right now, but remember the pain will go away and your new journey, outlook in life and health is before you. Remember why you’re doing this and use that motivation to continue pushing forward through the pain. Also be patient with yourself!! You will achieve your goals in time. Take it a day at a time and please please please don’t focus on the scale focus on strengthening your muscles, endurance and mindset. The scale numbers will fall on their own. Trust the tool we have!! 😊

    Glad I run across your channel. My surgery is Dec 7th 2021. This is me second surgery in 2016 I had the VSG, it was a success until I had a thyroidectomy in 2019. Oh-mylanta, the weight gain started coming back almost immediately, I was so sad about it. I haven't gained all the weight back but the Endocrinologist has adjusted my meds 10 times and I don't see any success with thyroid med stability before I've regained the weight back; additionally my HPB returned. I put in the work, lost the weight and the thyroidectomy ruined everything. I'm 50, and lately been thinking about running (ex veteran). You are my motivation. Be Blessed!

    My name is Sherie and I am just now starting my weight loss journey. I am about to have my first consultation. I'm excited to get started. I've researched a lot and think I've got everything I need to get started. Do you have any suggestions, ideas or advice you can give me to help me to along with my journey? I am so ready. I've been watching your videos and I am so glad that you doing so well on your weight loss experience. You are a wonderful singer. You have a beautiful voice. God bless you. With everything that we are going through in this day and age, we all give it to God and he makes everything possible. He will get us through this. How long does it take to lose the weight after surgery? You are a very Godly person and is always upbeat. Keep up the good work and keep on singing. :)

    • @turbonetic777
      @turbonetic777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awwww Sherie thank you soo soo much for your kind words, that really means the world to me!! So after surgery you start to loose weight immediately. Every week you will loose anywhere from 1-5 lbs give or take. Now there will be weeks where you loose more inches and you will see that your weight on the scale won’t change. Ppl get sooo discouraged when that happens bc they focus solely on the numbers and so don’t get focused on the numbers. Trust that your tool will do it’s job. After surgery get active as right away, it’s going to be tough initially bc you will feel and get fatigued very easily the first couple months after surgery bc your body will be going through A LOT trying to heal from surgery as well as not receive the high calories it has been used too for awhile. However push through that and walk - walk - walk Everyday and that will jumpstart your weightloss to the max. How long you walk determines how you feel, initially you may only be able to walk for 5-10 minutes and that’s great but as every day push yourself to walk and if you can walk more than the previous day than go for it, if you are too exhausted then walk the amount you can and keep a diary or Log of how many minutes you walked for reference. Strive to do a little more each week if possible of course, even if it’s just one minute longer… one minute is one minute!! The 4 most importing things are as follows: 1) stick to the diet ( I prefer to call it, new way of eating) it’s super important to train your mind to look at food differently. You will have to be around food all your life but you DON’T have to be controlled by it!! We eat to live, we don’t live to eat!! The more discipline you are the better your success will be!! You can have a cheat day later but I don’t recommend it the first year of surgery bc your mind will be getting used to everything and your will power will not be strong enough but you will be. 2) Remember why you are doing this!!! Take pictures before surgery and then every month there after at least for the first year and you will see the transformation and that alone will keep you motivated to keep pushing because you will have days where you’re not gonna feel like doing anything regarding exercise and there will be days where you will want to eat like you used to eat or the things he used to eat so these pictures will help you immensely. 3) Be very patient with yourself, Set up goals and remember you did not get become overweight overnight which means you will not get super skinny overnight!! It takes time, effort, dedication and hard work. Be very patient with yourself you will get there. There will be days where are you feel there are no changes or you will be in a stall and it’s normal trust the tool which is your surgery to move along just keep moving and keep pushing. 4) you will be your biggest cheerleader believe it or not. You will want to surround yourself with the most positive people you can have, however there will be a time we’re even the closest people around you will make comments that will hurt your feelings some will say things like you’re losing too much weight. Some will say, you look good but you need to eat more. Some may say, I bet you have a lot of loose skin or you were a lot more fun when you were heavy or you think you’re all that because you’re skinny now. Most of these comments will come from the closest people you are with but you have to mustard the mental strength to keep pushing forward to obtain the goals that you have set up for yourself. This is your journey you choose who you bring along in at any time you can choose to take people out of your journey and it’s OK. This journey will be trying not only to your body but to your mind. It is a emotional and physical roller coasters with lots of ups lots of down. Remember the one person who will always be at your side no matter what is God‘s Holy Spirit lean on HIM and he will bring you through!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Welcome to your journey I am so happy and will always be here to help you through if you want me to make a video on anything please let me know God bless you and again thank you so much for your kind kind words that really touched my heart!!! 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️

      @@turbonetic777 Thank you so much for your advice. I will definitely take it to heart. I have been overweight for over 27 years when I gave birth to my oldest daughter. I have been miserable ever since. I know that God loves me no matter what I look like, but I am a vessel of God. And I need to take care of it more by being back at where I was before I had my girls. Granted I love both my girls, but I was not being healthy when I had them. I thought I was but I wasn't. My daughters have only seen me thinner in pics and I want to be able to let them see the real me at a healthy level. They may be adults now, But, I want to show them that I can take care of myself the healthy way. And the surgery will be a tool for me to use to keep being healthy and to maintain that state of mind. I want to be healthy not only in body, but also mind and spirit. I would love to have you as a supporter, since you have gone through this already, you would be like a mentor for me. I watched your video on body shaming and I know what you are talking about on both ends of the spectrum. When I was thinner, I would always hear I needed to eat more, and then when I do, I get told I need to stop eating and leave the food for those who need it more than me. I just need to leave the negative people behind, and pray to God that he renews their minds and hearts. I will need more positivity going forward. I do have my husband and immediate family members on my side routing for me. I also have friends that are all for me doing this. I also know that some may change their minds after seeing my progress, and I am ok with that. I just have to let them know why I am doing this and that is to better my health and lengthen my lifespan. I call it my shelf life. We all have a shelf life expectancy. It is what we do and how we do it to make it last longer. I have type 2 diabetes and was diagnosed a month ago. I was also diagnosed 7 years ago with sleep apnea. I use a CPAP and I hate it. I know I need it because of being overweight, but hopefully once I lose the weight I need to lose, I will be taken off of the machine for good. My husband also says I snore, but I keep telling him if I can't hear myself snore than how is it I snore. He just laughs and says, if we could all hear what we do when we sleep, it would be a weird thing unless we record ourselves doing it. Sorry this is so long, but you are an inspiration to so many like me, and a mentor. You don't have to be with me every step of the way, but I would like to have you there when I go through this just because you bring the joy into the hearts of those needing it. God is good all the time and He is a Light unto our path and we are the vessels to carry that light with us wherever we go. God bless you, and I will let you know when I get to my surgery date. I may even post a video of it here on TH-cam. Thanks again. 😁

But, I had to remind myself why I am going through this surgery and how it going to be awesome after everything is all said and done. It will all be worth it. So, I just hope that I can get through the next two weeks with flying colors. Just let me know what I need to do for pointers on getting through my two weeks liquid diet. Anyway, just thought I would let you know how things are going. Have a great day and I will talk to you later!

      Hey, congratulations on the Surgery!! I did not have that symptom after surgery, however it may be trapped air from the surgery that may still be in your body or it could also be a knot from anxiety or stress due to the surgery. Try and get a massage to see if it helps. Thank you so much for the kind words and watching my videos I really appreciate it. I am new to the page but I am 3 weeks away from my surgery!! Can’t wait! I had a question- I know what the dietitians say about the post op diet. But I would love to get the input from someone who actually went through the surgery on what the diet looks like. Thanks!

    • @turbonetic777
      @turbonetic777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey William, congratulations, so very exciting. Well regarding the diet, I have to say that initially it’s about self discipline. They say you won’t be hungry or whatever but that’s not necessarily true! I was starving immediately and wanted to eat first chance I could get but we know it was impossible. You have to say to yourself that this is not a diet but the new way of life for you! The first 6 months to the year is the hardest bc you are fighting the old you and you will have to be extremely strong and have an extremely strong support system to help because it can get tough. You will want to eat like before and just can’t and that will frustrate you. You will get tired of eating the same things and that will frustrate you. You will NOT hit your goals ( water, protein, weight loss) and that is ok!!! You have to trust the tool ( surgery) that it will do what it was designed to do. If you don’t hit your goals that week, it’s ok you have the next week to try again. Don’t beat yourself up. Another thing is, dietitian make it seemed like you will never be able to eat certain foods ever again, and that’s not true. I am 5 years out and I eat everything!! Im Puerto Rican and I eat rice and beans with some kind of meat just about every day! Yes the quantity is a lot smaller but I do eat anything. Moderation is key of course and a healthy lifestyle ( exercise) is a MUST!!! When you start eating again after the liquid and soft diet stage take it easy. You will find that your stomach may not tolerate somethings as well as before. TaKe it easy and if something doesn’t sit right in your stomach wait about a week or two and try eating it again, usually it will be bettythe second time. Lastly chew everything very very well, it does help. Good luck with everything and I am here to help you and answer any questions you have!! Thanks for watching. 😊🙏🏼

      Hi Pamela Bates, thank you so much for your comment!! So glad Your Husband is doing well. As far as my exercise I started out walking progressively‘s going into faster pace as I got stronger until I was able to run. Running is my main form of exercise but I also do P90X once in a blue. Alot of ppl say do weights and bulk up, however the way I see it is, why gain all the muscle when you can’t show it off because it’s underneath fat!! So I like to focus on Cardio and light weight if any weights at all. I have great lean muscle and have what have told the “ Runners Build” lean and muscular. I have a 6 pack yesssss 6pack and very defined muscle legs and arms it’s all due to running. When I do p90x the heaviest dumbbells I use are 10lbs. Hope this helps and thank you again for watching my videos!! I’m planning on making an update very soon! If there are any topics you would like for me to talk about please let me know. Thanks 😊

      @@turbonetic777 Thanks for the quick reply! It is very helpful. I guess my only other question is about loose skin. My husband does not have any issues with that yet, but I know it is a common problem. Did you have any issues with it? If so, did you do skin surgery? Or do you have any suggestions regarding loose skin. thanks again!

    • @turbonetic777
      @turbonetic777 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pamela Bates That’s a great question!!! When it comes to excess skin, many factors come into play. 1) Age, 2) Original size and 3) Genetics. The older you are the more excess skin you may notice, bc the skins natural elasticity decreases with age. 2) The bigger you are the more excess skin your body has to deal with and this goes hand in hand with Elasticity and how well the body tightens up. Of course the younger you are the better the body’s ability to rebound and tighten up. Think of a woman that has a baby in her 20’s versus a woman who has a baby in her 30’s or 40’s. Who’s skin will rebound much faster. Obviously the 20 year old, bc of the elasticity in her skin. Same applies to weight Loss. The bigger you were the more skin your body has to deal with and if your older than your body has to really work to rebound. I was 335 lbs and was 35 years old when I had surgery. Now you can’t tell I was ever that big but again everyone is different. Lastly genetics! Ppl of Hispanic/Latin, african american or native american origins have higher elasticity components in the skin versus Caucasians. In my case I did NOT any problems with excess skin! Infact my Surgeon was blown away at how my body rebound and said I was a lucky lucky guy. Im PuertoRican and have my genetics to thank bc both my parents have flawless skin and they don’t look their age, but also I was very active and already had alot of muscle underneath that helped. I tell folks that is why you want to be as active as you possibly can, whether it’s running, hiking, swimming or walking doesn’t matter it all helps to build muscle and help your body rebound. Also drinking lots of water also helps keep the skin hydrated and tight. Now with that said even doing everything right excess skin may still be a slight issue. My advice is to wait until the body stops actively loosing weight 15-24 months before you decide on skin removal surgery. Try to loose as much weight possibly before going for plastics bc you don’t want to jump the gun and have that procedure done and then loose more weight afterwards. Hope this makes sense! 🙂

      Elizabeth Bateman Thank you so much, I pray that you don’t have Cancer!! When you get the sadi loop DS, know that initially you will have acid reflux because how small your stomach is. I was put on Prilosec for 3 months to control my acid reflux but after that it all went away and My Surgeon took me off it. He said it was normal to have increased reflux initially bc your body and brain has to figure out that the stomach is smaller and doesn’t need a lot of acid like before and once it figures that out it slows the production of stomach acids down. Bet Taupe, hello.. thnx for commenting!! First thing first WELCOME TO THE LOSERS BENCH!! Yaaaaaaaay!!!🎉🎉🎉... ok... now, don’t beat yourself up! Do you know, that I didn’t hit my 64 oz water goal for the first 6 months!!! Heck there are days now at 3 years that I don’t hit them!! It’s ok, you will get there. Slow and steady wins the race!!! Remember that always. I had a hard time eating as well! I was hungry all the time but couldn’t eat bc I got full of air always with one bite. Be very patient with yourself, because at this stage you are like a baby learning yourself all over again. Things you could eat before you will find that you won’t tolerate as easily and things you didn’t like may work. If you find that you are having problems with A certain type of food I read this article that said wait two weeks and try it again and more than likely it’ll be a lot easier then. Your stomach and digestive system is completely different now and it’s learning how it processed foods which is a lot different than before.It’s a learning curve, you will make mistakes but once you learn it and you learn what your body can tolerate and not tolerate you will be fine. I’m here for you if you have any questions whatsoever please feel free to ask I am here for you! 🙂

    • @turbonetic777
      @turbonetic777 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bet Taupe, Thank you for the compliment ☺️.... so yes eventually you will be able to eat everything again and Lord knows that’s when the battle truly begins. At this stage your stomach is still very swollen and trying to heal and super tight super small and so we don’t realize how much air we taken into we have something like this done which is why you continuously burp. I had the same thing happening when I asked my surgeon he said when you have a regular stomach and the top portion of the stomach is called the fundis ( not sure I spelled that right) But it’s like the cathedral portion of stomach and so when you eat and we take an air and naturally the air goes up into that area and then when your full you burp out that air, however because we no longer have that part of the stomach we burp very easily because there’s nowhere for the air to go. As you heal and your stomach stretches a little which is very normal that goes away and gets 100% better.

I encourage you to watch my other videos and see my complete journey!! If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Wish you the very best in your journey! 😊❤️

      turbonetic777 I intend to watch your videos! But I'm trying to watch in the timeframe that I am in my journey. It relieves me that you've recovered & that in spite of your complications you still encourage me to do the DS surgery. ❤️

      Gina Ross ooh yeah, that makes total sense to watch them as you progress. I love the DS and the #1 question I get asked is, if I knew I that I would almost die would I do it again... my response was and will always be YES!! See Yes I almost died but I have gained sooo much more and gained LIFE in itself that it’s a no brainer for me. I was in such bad shape before surgery, had I stayed that way, I know I would’ve cut my life short!! So the fact that I’m not just skinny bc there are a lot of unhealthy skinny ppl out there, but HEALTHY and off ALL medications and ailements is enough for me to do it all over again if I had too.

    Great job. I had surgery with DR. Bovard also. I’m down to 183lbs so far. I’m starting to jog hoping one day I can do 3k run.
