Glad I run across your channel. My surgery is Dec 7th 2021. This is me second surgery in 2016 I had the VSG, it was a success until I had a thyroidectomy in 2019. Oh-mylanta, the weight gain started coming back almost immediately, I was so sad about it. I haven't gained all the weight back but the Endocrinologist has adjusted my meds 10 times and I don't see any success with thyroid med stability before I've regained the weight back; additionally my HPB returned. I put in the work, lost the weight and the thyroidectomy ruined everything. I'm 50, and lately been thinking about running (ex veteran). You are my motivation. Be Blessed!

Wow, well I know you will get back on track with the DS. I pray all goes well with your surgery. Once you heal and are able definitely start running. It’s awesome to be able to do something you couldn’t before! Good luck keep me posted 😊🙏🏼

I am new to the page but I am 3 weeks away from my surgery!! Can’t wait!
I had a question- I know what the dietitians say about the post op diet. But I would love to get the input from someone who actually went through the surgery on what the diet looks like.
    Thanks!

Hey William, congratulations, so very exciting. Well regarding the diet, I have to say that initially it’s about self discipline. They say you won’t be hungry or whatever but that’s not necessarily true! I was starving immediately and wanted to eat first chance I could get but we know it was impossible.
You have to say to yourself that this is not a diet but the new way of life for you! The first 6 months to the year is the hardest bc you are fighting the old you and you will have to be extremely strong and have an extremely strong support system to help because it can get tough. You will want to eat like before and just can’t and that will frustrate you. You will get tired of eating the same things and that will frustrate you. You will NOT hit your goals ( water, protein, weight loss) and that is ok!!! You have to trust the tool ( surgery) that it will do what it was designed to do. If you don’t hit your goals that week, it’s ok you have the next week to try again. Don’t beat yourself up. Another thing is, dietitian make it seemed like you will never be able to eat certain foods ever again, and that’s not true. I am 5 years out and I eat everything!! Im Puerto Rican and I eat rice and beans with some kind of meat just about every day! Yes the quantity is a lot smaller but I do eat anything. Moderation is key of course and a healthy lifestyle ( exercise) is a MUST!!! When you start eating again after the liquid and soft diet stage take it easy. You will find that your stomach may not tolerate somethings as well as before. TaKe it easy and if something doesn’t sit right in your stomach wait about a week or two and try eating it again, usually it will be bettythe second time. Lastly chew everything very very well, it does help. Good luck with everything and I am here to help you and answer any questions you have!! Thanks for watching. 😊🙏🏼

My name is Sherie and I am just now starting my weight loss journey. I am about to have my first consultation. I'm excited to get started. I've researched a lot and think I've got everything I need to get started. Do you have any suggestions, ideas or advice you can give me to help me to along with my journey? I am so ready. I've been watching your videos and I am so glad that you doing so well on your weight loss experience. You are a wonderful singer. You have a beautiful voice. God bless you. With everything that we are going through in this day and age, we all give it to God and he makes everything possible. He will get us through this. How long does it take to lose the weight after surgery? You are a very Godly person and is always upbeat. Keep up the good work and keep on singing. :)

      @turbonetic777  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Awwww Sherie thank you soo soo much for your kind words, that really means the world to me!!
So after surgery you start to loose weight immediately. Every week you will loose anywhere from 1-5 lbs give or take. Now there will be weeks where you loose more inches and you will see that your weight on the scale won’t change. Ppl get sooo discouraged when that happens bc they focus solely on the numbers and so don’t get focused on the numbers. Trust that your tool will do it’s job.
After surgery get active as right away, it’s going to be tough initially bc you will feel and get fatigued very easily the first couple months after surgery bc your body will be going through A LOT trying to heal from surgery as well as not receive the high calories it has been used too for awhile. However push through that and walk - walk - walk Everyday and that will jumpstart your weightloss to the max. How long you walk determines how you feel, initially you may only be able to walk for 5-10 minutes and that’s great but as every day push yourself to walk and if you can walk more than the previous day than go for it, if you are too exhausted then walk the amount you can and keep a diary or Log of how many minutes you walked for reference. Strive to do a little more each week if possible of course, even if it’s just one minute longer… one minute is one minute!!
The 4 most importing things are as follows:
      1) stick to the diet
( I prefer to call it, new way of eating) it’s super important to train your mind to look at food differently. You will have to be around food all your life but you DON’T have to be controlled by it!! We eat to live, we don’t live to eat!! The more discipline you are the better your success will be!! You can have a cheat day later but I don’t recommend it the first year of surgery bc your mind will be getting used to everything and your will power will not be strong enough but you will be.
      2) Remember why you are doing this!!!
Take pictures before surgery and then every month there after at least for the first year and you will see the transformation and that alone will keep you motivated to keep pushing because you will have days where you’re not gonna feel like doing anything regarding exercise and there will be days where you will want to eat like you used to eat or the things he used to eat so these pictures will help you immensely.
      3) Be very patient with yourself,
Set up goals and remember you did not get become overweight overnight which means you will not get super skinny overnight!! It takes time, effort, dedication and hard work. Be very patient with yourself you will get there. There will be days where are you feel there are no changes or you will be in a stall and it’s normal trust the tool which is your surgery to move along just keep moving and keep pushing.
      4) you will be your biggest cheerleader believe it or not.
You will want to surround yourself with the most positive people you can have, however there will be a time we’re even the closest people around you will make comments that will hurt your feelings some will say things like you’re losing too much weight. Some will say, you look good but you need to eat more. Some may say, I bet you have a lot of loose skin or you were a lot more fun when you were heavy or you think you’re all that because you’re skinny now. Most of these comments will come from the closest people you are with but you have to mustard the mental strength to keep pushing forward to obtain the goals that you have set up for yourself. This is your journey you choose who you bring along in at any time you can choose to take people out of your journey and it’s OK. This journey will be trying not only to your body but to your mind. It is a emotional and physical roller coasters with lots of ups lots of down. Remember the one person who will always be at your side no matter what is God‘s Holy Spirit lean on HIM and he will bring you through!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Welcome to your journey I am so happy and will always be here to help you through if you want me to make a video on anything please let me know God bless you and again thank you so much for your kind kind words that really touched my heart!!! 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️

@@turbonetic777 Thank you so much for your advice. I will definitely take it to heart. I have been overweight for over 27 years when I gave birth to my oldest daughter. I have been miserable ever since. I know that God loves me no matter what I look like, but I am a vessel of God. And I need to take care of it more by being back at where I was before I had my girls. Granted I love both my girls, but I was not being healthy when I had them. I thought I was but I wasn't. My daughters have only seen me thinner in pics and I want to be able to let them see the real me at a healthy level. They may be adults now, But, I want to show them that I can take care of myself the healthy way. And the surgery will be a tool for me to use to keep being healthy and to maintain that state of mind. I want to be healthy not only in body, but also mind and spirit.
I would love to have you as a supporter, since you have gone through this already, you would be like a mentor for me. I watched your video on body shaming and I know what you are talking about on both ends of the spectrum. When I was thinner, I would always hear I needed to eat more, and then when I do, I get told I need to stop eating and leave the food for those who need it more than me. I just need to leave the negative people behind, and pray to God that he renews their minds and hearts. I will need more positivity going forward. I do have my husband and immediate family members on my side routing for me. I also have friends that are all for me doing this. I also know that some may change their minds after seeing my progress, and I am ok with that. I just have to let them know why I am doing this and that is to better my health and lengthen my lifespan. I call it my shelf life. We all have a shelf life expectancy. It is what we do and how we do it to make it last longer. I have type 2 diabetes and was diagnosed a month ago. I was also diagnosed 7 years ago with sleep apnea. I use a CPAP and I hate it. I know I need it because of being overweight, but hopefully once I lose the weight I need to lose, I will be taken off of the machine for good. My husband also says I snore, but I keep telling him if I can't hear myself snore than how is it I snore. He just laughs and says, if we could all hear what we do when we sleep, it would be a weird thing unless we record ourselves doing it. Sorry this is so long, but you are an inspiration to so many like me, and a mentor. You don't have to be with me every step of the way, but I would like to have you there when I go through this just because you bring the joy into the hearts of those needing it. God is good all the time and He is a Light unto our path and we are the vessels to carry that light with us wherever we go. God bless you, and I will let you know when I get to my surgery date. I may even post a video of it here on TH-cam. Thanks again. 😁

@@turbonetic777 I wanted to give you an update. I will be finally having my surgery on Tuesday, April 5th. Two more days. I'm getting excited and nervous at the same time, but I know it is going to be worth it in the end. I will let you know how it goes or you can follow me on my channel to see how everything is going. I will do a video tomorrow night and then again on day of the surgery. I'm almost there. I just can't believe it. It's like I'm in a dream. But, real. The last couple of days, I have had temptations to go off the grid and it normal food. But, I had to remind myself why I am going through this surgery and how it going to be awesome after everything is all said and done. It will all be worth it. So, I just hope that I can get through the next two weeks with flying colors. Just let me know what I need to do for pointers on getting through my two weeks liquid diet. Anyway, just thought I would let you know how things are going. Have a great day and I will talk to you later!

Hii! I just got a modified DS and sleeve on Monday. I was wondering if you ever experienced pain in your shoulders after surgery. I'm home now and it's day 3 and I still have pain in both shoulders and a little nausea. I love your videos btw you encouraged me to follow throw with The surgery 😊

Hey, congratulations on the Surgery!! I did not have that symptom after surgery, however it may be trapped air from the surgery that may still be in your body or it could also be a knot from anxiety or stress due to the surgery. Try and get a massage to see if it helps. Thank you so much for the kind words and watching my videos I really appreciate it. I’m here for you so if you have any other questions let me know or if you would like for me to make a video on a certain topic let me know!! Feel better and welcome to the Bench! 😊❤️

But I'm definitely going to start trying to get this extra air out 😆 I went and bought gasx today so hopefully this helps. If you ever have time I would love to see what you ate/drank during the 2nd, 3rd , and 4th stages. My nutritionist gave me alot of paper work to read but it's a bit confusing. I tried emailing her about it but haven't gotten a response yet lol
