Fell behind from the group and decided to push it a little too hard to catch up. Of course as soon as I start to really push it the next corner is deep sand and I'm going into it too hot so I dump the old KLR.

    Hi just done my Honda st1100 slave rebuid , seals new spring , put piston back into slave cylinder housing , tiny bit of break fluid rubbed around both inside & outer piston , but does not spring back can just keep pushing until all the way down any ideas what's wrong please?

    • @mcmoto5424
      @mcmoto5424 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @brocky78 Idk for sure. But my brother rebuilt his slave cylinder on his Indian and somehow reversed the piston/plunger and it caused the same issue until I discovered that and flipped it around. That and check that the spring is seated correctly.

    • @brocky78
      @brocky78 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@mcmoto5424 which spring are you referring to please? Also the piston plunger you discuss on my slave cylinder looks like a little 4 inch bar both same ends , also it making the Exact same noise as before I ever went at it, when I try put into gear just a rolling rattling sound feels like something to do with an attachment witch gear selector to gearbox area to me, the slave cylinder on the Honda st1100 is positioned not on the side like most bikes but at the front centre of engine block

    I have a Central Forge 5 inch that lives on my trailer for the past 8 years and I have mounted a Harbor Freight mini tire changer on it when I needed to. I have actually beat the living stink out of it. It started off a blue color but it now has several different colors on it. I use the anvil quite a bit and have cranked on the tighten handle with a cheater bar if and when necessary. I finally lubed on it yesterday and it is much smoother. It serves the purpose for now, and it lives a rough life and so far has taken all the abuse I can throw at it. I do plan to purchase the DOYLE 4.5 inch soon for an indoor work bench vice.

    I live in Chandler, AZ, just southeast of Phoenix. I have a bought new 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 with 118,000 miles on it, been all over the country on it, had to pull the engine out once to replace the stator, and replace the defective automatic cam chain tensioners with aftermarket manual cam chain tensioners, otherwise no significant issues. Been to the Grand Canyon about 20 times. 90 degrees is a bit warm for me. It's tolerable but not comfortable. To me winter is riding season in AZ. I'd rather ride in 30 degrees that 115 degrees. I don't ride with a windshield. I tried it a few times decades ago, and gave up. They caused severe helmet buffeting, and I just didn't like trying to look through a dirty bug splattered piece of plastic, since my face shield was also dirty and bug splattered. Made it hard to see. I usually just stay in the right lane and around 65. I ride to relax. The cops will give you a speeding ticket until they meet their quota, then they usually don't care. Lots of fast food choices at Camp Verde.

    I went to harbor freight yesterday intending to buy my first cordless ratchet, the quarter inch extended reach. When I picked them up, I was surprised how much heavier and unbalanced the extended reach felt. I went with the standard length, can always buy an extended one later if I need the reach that often. They had a free 2Ahr battery deal going with the ratchet. I also bought the 20 volt impact driver kit which came with a charger and 2Ahr battery plus an additional 2.5Ahr battery for $98.

    One important thing missed was that the Clutch fluid line banjo bolts are supposed to be torqued to 25 to 35 nm which is 18 to 25 ft-lbs. This is per the Haynes reference manual for 1982 to 1988 V45 to V65 Magnas and Sabres page 2-9 Also, I believe you've confused the gasket that you replaced as the issue for the cause of the leak. There should have been no fluid in that area where the gasket is. That's only where the piston presses against the push rod. If you had fluid inside there, then the leak was caused by the piston seals being bad. You needed to replace the piston seals and to do that you needed to get the piston removed to get access to the piston seals for replacement. This information is described on page 2-30 of the Haynes manual for the 1982 to 1988 Magnas and Sabres.

    I disagree I bought the same one ,after a year of very little use it will not open or close, they only warranty them for 90 days so if brake after that it your baby, I will never buy a another vice from Harbor freight. I guess you what you pay for or do you I didn't?

    • @mcmoto5424
      @mcmoto5424 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, these are definitely hit or miss. I returned two and almost called it quits until I finally got a good one on the third try. But their new Doyle Vises are built way better and getting a lot of praise. Seem to be way better than anything else for the price so if this one goes I might look into one of those.

    • @mcmoto5424
      @mcmoto5424 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably 3/8 since I think you get and extra 5 foot pounds of torque with that ove lr the quarter. Everything else is the same other than the anvil size and torque and you can always use adapters. I know 3/8 is more useful for me anyway.
