Bottom Wrestling Reversals
I think in wrestling it's important to stay offensive minded as much as you can. And I think that's also the case with bottom. So when I work on bottom I tend to try to bait the top wrestler into a position that I can reverse and get them to their backs. But there are times where you just have to play defense and that's ok. In this video you'll see examples of both. These aren't the most normal ways to get out, but I think and I hope this video will be helpful to many of you out there. If you want to see any position explained more in depth and broken down in another video let me know in the comments.

Making Adjustments and Chain Wrestling
มุมมอง 3772 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I am giving commentary on a light spar session with one of my athletes. The focus of these clips were to show how to make adjustments when you keep falling for a counter move or are struggling with finishing a takedown and to give some examples of chain wrestling and explain what that is. Chain wrestling is an important concept to get a hold of because against some competitors you...
Active Recovery Workout (drilling on your own)
มุมมอง 534 หลายเดือนก่อน
After a few hard days in the training week for a camp getting ready for competition I need to take a day off. Sometimes I fully take the day off and just relax but other times I want to be active and keep my mind sharp especially as I close in on a competition. For this workout the goal was to get volume of good crisp shots. I did this with a shot sled and dummy but this can of course be done a...

This past June I spent time in Budapest training and competing in the ranking series. I like to get moving and in nature on my recovery days so my coach, teammate, trainer and I went on a hike to the Citadella (a statue located on the top of a mountain). We had some beautiful views so I hope you enjoy If you're interested in any recovery tools I have some affiliate links below! El pasado mes de...

Wow. You took those guys apart 😎. Nice to see the real-deal competition and that you are continuing to stay active!
Nice breakdown in the video. This style of the examples with the voice-over was great.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this experience with your subscribers
Hey my pleasure what's something you enjoyed from this video?
Love these vids. I’m an OG Jitsero just stepping my toes into wrestling and these are really well done and explained. Also a huge fan of dummies to train and rep. Live and train in El Cocal, Yabucoa PR btw! Wonder how many people know what that sound is at the end of:)
Hey thanks that's encouraging to hear! I'll be looking to post more soon so be on the lookout. And oh that's great! Love the sound
I like this video. Nice to get insight from an elite level coach and Olympic athlete! 💯
Thank you I'm happy to hear that
@coquiwrestling Hey my guy. I watched your bout against Greece... I love how you went for it! I saw the grit and determination. That's what counts. Enjoy the rest of your time with your family in France! 💯

Hello, would you care to recommend what weight dummy to get? Want it for drilling basic throws and doing wrestling specific strength conditioning. Im 5'11 200lb, and deciding between 125 and 90 lb. Which weight do you use? Thank you, and great videos
Yeah I don't mind. The dummy I bought was the attacker dummy size large on the suples website because that is for people around 200-260 and I figured heavier may help. That weights around 85-110 lbs In the description. So with your size I would suggest that. If you don't care about the bungee chords or ankle weights than you can buy it on amazon for a little cheaper. Here is my link amzn.to/46kauA0 but if you want the accesories than I suggest going to suples.com and if you want the speed dummy (great for quick explosive reps) heres another affiliate link amzn.to/3PKYiTj Hope that helps
@@coquiwrestling Thank you, much appreciated, i already bought exactly that same dummy. All the best!
What a room!
Thanks! It's not too big but definitely gives me what I need
@@coquiwrestling Love to come down and collaborate with you soon, maybe before Super 32.
@@JOWrestling Yeah I'd love to make that happen! Lets talk and figure it out
My son who started wrestling loves it and wants to get to the top! I want to help him and get involved by asking you two questions, since you have a lot of experience 1. what would be the most important things that make the difference between an average athlete and an outstanding one? 2. what should we focus on in the beginning, more to create a solid base? Thank you very much!
Hey great questions. Off the top of my head I would say being coachable, having a high attention to detail, being able to motivate yourself/ be disciplined and learning how to be creative. Creativity will help a lot if you are limited in resources and will help you enjoy the sport more. In the beginning it depends on the age of your son really. If he is really young then teaching them how to have fun and have a high degree of coordination is really important. If they are older and have that base then learning the basics like how to shoot (drop step) correctly, how to sprawl correctly, head hands hips defense and being able to stay disciplined in a stance for at least the length of a full match would be among the top things to have down. Hope that helps and I will try to address these as well in future videos . Thank you!
@@coquiwrestling thank you, very much!!
Great video thanks, any suggestions for drills with the dummy for veteran wrestlers (not shooting) much appreciated
Hey @neillhughes8439 thanks and thanks for asking. That is a good question in which I will plan to make a video for so be on the lookout. But to answer your question I would suggest that if you have a dummy with legs to drill techniques like snatch single, high level blast doubles and undderhook throw bys. You could also drill duck unders, techniques from the 2 on 1, drags and throws. And if you were to break them down into individual components an example might be drag to level change and step to the high single, Start in a double on your feet and drive or duck and lift. I hope that helps but I will try to make a video soon addressing that and make it more clear
@@coquiwrestling Hi yes that is really helpful and whilst I am family with all the techniques a video to put it altogether would be really helpful. I will look forward to that, thanks
Excellent!
Thank you!
@@coquiwrestling looking forward to more!

sensei, how heavy with dummy is better?
Hey good question. It really depends on your goals. For me I wanted one of the heaviest ones so that I could learn to throw around dead weight easier, but if you want to do a lot of reps in a shorter time then I would recommend getting a speed dummy or one at a lighter weight. Both will work power well but on the heavier side it will definitely force you to do technique more correctly and build strength. Hope this helps
@@coquiwrestling thz , so i will buy two dummy haha
