Heading Off The Beach to Catch Bull Redfish From The Kayak (Charleston, SC)
I had a golden opportunity to take the kayak out to the jetties in the heart of "Red October", Charleston's peak opportunity to catch giant, Bull Redfish. During late Summer/early Fall, these overgrown goldfish take to the beaches, creeks, and other nearshore structure to engorge themselves with food to get ready to spawn. These fish are the biggest and most aggressive they will be all year and can be found concentrated in certain areas. Corey from @CurrentAngling and his buddy Greg heading off the beach to try our hands at catching some of these huge fish from the kayak and we were NOT disappointed. We all caught bull red drum on this trip to the Charleston Jetties and had a great time! Stay tuned in to Corey's channel for his video which includes his and Greg's fish as well as some sweet drone footage!

Our First Time Kayak Fishing The Charleston Jetties
มุมมอง 3.7Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Corey from @CurrentAngling and I went out to fishing the Charleston Jetties for the first time from our kayaks. We had absolutely perfect conditions for it and managed to string together a quality day of fishing with a variety of species caught! We even managed to keep a few for the dinner table, but we let many more go. This trip was a lot of fun and we're already planning our next trip out th...
3 Days Chasing Carolina Gold (Kayak Fishing)
มุมมอง 1.8K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I fished a tiny, narrow creek for 3 days around low tide hoping to catch a big fish in shallow water. I first fished this creek last summer and it was nothing short of insane! It was absolutely loaded with big, beautiful red drum, so I was excited to go back and see if the fish were still there. Fortunately, these fish were apparently waiting for me to come back! The bite was fant...
Which Bait Is Going To Catch The Most Catfish?
มุมมอง 1.8K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
I took my new kayak up to the Santee Cooper to try and get on some big catfish on light tackle. I used both fresh shrimp and herring and I set out to see which bait would catch the most and the biggest catfish! There was a clear favorite so tune in to find out which bait these giant slimy fish preferred! Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video! Make sure to subscribe and hit the no...
A Taste of Everything Inshore Fishing Has to Offer (Kayak Fishing)
มุมมอง 3K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
On today's trip I went out at first light with the plan of throwing lures and attempting to sight fish redfish to start off, then later transitioning to fishing the docks for sheepshead. The overall goal was to catch some fish for the dinner table and to continue testing the new kayak. I ended up catching a taste of everything inshore fishing in the Lowcountry has to offer and my new kayak cont...

Fishing for Hard Fighting California Sheephead off the Coast of San Diego!
มุมมอง 1.3K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
I was lucky enough to get back out to Southern California to fish with the one and only Glenn from @sandog Kayak Adventures! We set out for the kelp beds on this trip in search of California Sheephead, one of the most sought after coastal fish in the Pacific (it's said to taste like lobster!). Not to be confused with our East Coast "sheepshead", the California Sheephead is aggressive, can grow ...
A Great Day of Winter Fishing Down South (Catch & Cook)
มุมมอง 3.1K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
Winter fishing can be hard and this winter has been especially challenging. Huge temperature swings and high winds have made getting on the water all but impossible, particularly when you can only fish on the weekends like myself. Fortunately, this fishing trip was different. The clouds opened up, the wind laid down, and the sun came out warming up the shallow water and causing the fish to beco...
The Bite Was on From the First Drop | Offshore Winter Sheepshead Fishing

I went out fishing with Marc from @redfishbluetail and his buddy Ryan. We took a trip offshore to a nearshore reef to do a little winter sheepshead fishing and the bite was on fire from the very first drop! We had an awesome day of sheep herding and we also had a surprise visit from some South Carolina Department of Resource Officers. We filled the box, through a bunch of fish back, and left th...

That no tail sheep was cool!!!
Really enjoy your videos! I recently purchased the 2-piece 7'2" medium with extra fast tip and absolutely love it. Have caught reds from both ends of the SC slot and it handled them fine. Was thinking about purchasing a medium heavy moderate fast with 2500 or 3000 for pulling reds and largemouth out of grass. Would appreciate your thoughts on this? Also, what toadfish combo do you recommend for trout?
Thank you this is very helpful
👍
Nice catches and great video. Do you guys plan your trips to and from the jetties with the outgoing and incoming tides for easier kayaking?
Thanks! Yes we definitely try to. The biggest thing we plan around is the weather. Has to be really perfect
Is it possible in the future if you could do a run down on all the fishing tackle you use whenever you are in the kayak?
Great tutorial from the number one Sheepslayer! thanks Christian
What are urbs
Third times the charm
So angry he forgot his glasses
Nice fish. Where are you guys putting in at and how long to the jetties?
That's a lot of action in 1.5 hours. Good fishing
ur a pussy for cutting the line on that shark, the hook was right there.
Nice dang reds man. Must have been a dang nice weather day to be out there on the yaks. I’ve been trying for bull reds to no avail. With work and too much wind the last two years. Also I’ve not tried cut bait either. I guess I need tot try that.
sweet vid as usual.
Thanks Reece! Appreciate it man
Hey bro where’s that place I want to go fishing there
This is the Charleston Jetties
Started following your channel and taking notes. What kind of rod are you using and how many pounds of braid line. Thank you for your input
For which setup? For the bulls that was a Toadfish 7'2MH boat rod which 25lb braid. Thanks for following along!
@@MakeTimeForFishing thank you. I bought a used kayak and i am gonna buy another one so I can bring any of my friends that are interested in kayak fishing. Your videos are very educational for new angler that dont have a mentor.
Some really good tugs on this day. Congrats on the good times.
Awesome trip bro those reds were great
I hope the PB & J made it out ok!
It did don't worry
I'd lovr to go fishing with u bro
Hey Christian. I've never fished the Getties. I'd love to go there with my twin boys on our kayaks and experience what you did. You met one of my sons if you remember. Could you share where we need to put in our kayaks and how far it is on peddle drives? We would appreciate it! Congratulations on your success!
Thanks! We put in at Station 18 1/2 on Sullivan's. You can map it but it's about 1.5-2 miles. You need to be careful if you plan a trip to the jetties, conditions change quickly and the surf can be hard to navigate if it isn't an absolutely perfect day. A lot of risk of flipping in the surf when launching/landing. I definitely recommend having a VHF radio with you if you plan to go. Goodluck and please be careful!
Always great running into yah out in the wild, was on that boat that day screaming yah name lol didn’t realize Corey was the other yak I would’ve gave him a shout as well. You two are the reason I’m been so successful learning from all y’all’s videos. One day I’ll run into y’all on land and get a photo 👍 need one for the wall!
Haha it was nice running into you too man. Thanks for saying hi! Really glad to hear you've learned something from our videos, that's cool to hear
how did you get those cannon ball jellies?
They were floating by everywhere on the outgoing. We scooped them up in our nets on the way out there
I know you have already heard this several times in comments, you can switch the handle on a bait caster to the left side. Loved your video.
what pond is this in charleston
Looks like a fun day man! Thanks for the vid.
I just found your channel after kayak fishing in charleston. I like the bag where you put your fish. What company makes it. Thanks
Thanks! It's from Wilderness Systems, same as my kayak
Thank you for the reply. I really enjoyed your channel. Very educational for newbie like me
Great video. I love Charleston. Worked there for many years and enjoyed the water.
glad to see you back.
Thank you for making this. Going to pick up a little cast net and give this a shot. Im sure it'll take some practice, but looks like a great addition to my kayak fishing on e i grt the hang of it! Thanks again!
JETTIES!!! Always consistent.
Do you know where to get the sheepsticker pro jigs?
Bellaire jigs website
Is that a real fiddler crab on the jig or an imitation?
It was a real fiddler. I've had limited success with imitation crabs
I’ve always wanted to go out to the jetties. What is that kill bag you’re using?
It's from Wilderness Systems, it's a kayak cooler that fits on the front hatch. Holds ice very well compared to previous coolers I've used
Always enjoy your vids!
Thanks Dale!
That is very impressive y’all made it out that far. 😮 if I saw yall out there I would have offered yall a ride back in haha
Haha thank you! It was a really easy pedal actually. Only took about 30 minutes and we took our time. We would appreciate the offer nonetheless!
Sick Toadfish rod
Thanks, really love them!
@@MakeTimeForFishing Me too. Awesome video too.
Thanks man, really appreciate that!
I love the videos. Especially the sheepshead. What line are you using ?
Thank you! The main line on the reels is piscifun braid, 10 - 15lb depending on the reel. I use 10 mostly for lures and 15 for heavier lures or sheepshead. 20lb fluoro leader almost 100% of the time for inshore
What kind of tackle are you using. Im still learning and want to try sheephead fishing. Thanks
"Im all about keeping the fishery alive" Gangster..
I use a cut up bath scrub. works just like a spawn sack, but you get many sq feet for a dollar or two.
Great video man!! How good is that Garmin under an inshore shallow fishing condition? Thinking about getting one but not sure that it’ll help me catch more fish.
Smarter than the average 🐻
What is the app you were checking the SC DNR regs on?
That was the "Fish Rules" app! It pulls the local regulations based on your GPS location. I've cross checked it before against the actual DNR site and it's always been accurate, but definitely double check if traveling.
Man that Kayak looks super stable. I've been looking hard at getting a Recon HD120. Do you have any complaints about it?
It's definitely stable! Not really no complaints from me. I've had it for about 4 or 6 months now and everything's working exactly as it should. The gunnel rod holders are another great feature so you can bring rods for everything without them getting in the way!
Seriously considering getting this one, tho i can do as much in the seastream angler as i can in this piece of ingenuity for a lot less. if i had /have one real concern and question to the folks at Recon....why can't yu make the retractable drive retrac at a much slower speed, lessoning the possibility of damage to the unit or underside of the kayak? Surely it's spring loaded, but all the same it's way too fast in retracting. i've got an idea or two on a supressur that can 'pinch' the drive from on top of the holder to slow it down, and if i get the yak that's be a project to work on., like a clamp/collar around the opening gripping it just enough to lessen the impact. Any thoughts from this forum on the idea?..or has anyone come up with anything in which i'm trying to describe? I'm basing my idea on maybe the speed of say, a periscope on a submarine,..maybe slower, which would be perfect for the drive.
When it's in the water it retracts much slower than it does on land. Much more reasonable speed. You can also tighten the mounting brackets a bit that surrounds the portion of the drive that retracts. As it gets tighter it moves more slowly. Thanks for watching!
Yo wait I second I met you at the beach the other day
Hey man! You're the Chris I spoke to about surf fishing right? Small world haha I hope to see you out on the beach soon! Bulls are running
@@MakeTimeForFishing yessir that’s me! I hope to see you out there so I can learn a thing or two!
