Metal fuel tank on these?
Any issues bleeding. I've heard on the golf there are auxiliary coolant pumps which need the vcds software to operate and bleed the system.
@@carr16v no ive never had an issue
I have passenger side getting warm and drivers side of my 2014 Audi a3 tdi cold. how do I flush it. or even fix it. should I flush, remove bag and put new core in or just remove bag, flush some how and see what happens.
In my jeep, the oil chamber is larger, and it requires 4 liters of oil for the 1.3 engine. I have swapped the engine with the same one, the G1.6. Now, when I add oil, it shows half a liter less. Should I change the gauge, or should I increase the oil level to 4.5 liters?
It's a Silica bag. Supposed to stop moisture attacking the inside of the coolant system. Can't make it up.....
Just submerge the cover in petrol for 24 hours. It would have cleaned it then just degreaser and a hose
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
Hi, I have had the same problem before like a year ago, they changed the heater matrix but they did not remove the silica bag nor flush the system, now this winter I have the same problem blows hot air on the drivers side and cold on the passengers side. Is it likely the heater matrix is blocked ones again. When removing the silica bag will you top up the coolant same as before with G13 fluid? Thanks
have the same problem, did you find a fix?
Hi yes this is probably the issue again. Unfortunately if they dont remove the bag the process repeats itself. The only other thing to check is the arms on the heater controls havent fallen off therefore giving you differemt temperatures through the vents
@@lifes.projects the heater matrix and expansion tank got changed last year, and no bag added. for 11 month it was fine. now only driver side(EU) blows hot air. How to check the arms on heater controls? I did the calibration by holding two buttons, all worked fine, but no head on passenger side.
Thank you, I was thinking my engine was worn out but watched your video and found leaking injectors hopefully this will fix it, thank you
@@alanlee7783 Thats great news!
Brilliant content very informative👍
@@scottybobatv Thank you!
transform it please
Thanks a million for your experience I have a VW Golf 2018/1.6diesel no heat only a cold so the dealer did all inspections of his plan to change the pomp which€ 360 and drive and check if. Not changing the small radiator radiator matrix which 1300€ what happened to German car Thanks again
@@abdoulounis4731 Unfirtunately they have become poorly designed and using cheap materials like most manufacturers
Hi there the company decided with my ok to flash the system and change the pomp they didn't work but when they small radiator the matrix costs my all the €1400 now everything ok back to normal my opinion all Volkswagen they should give 10 years warranty at list like Japanese car. cherrs.
Hi. I have a 2011 Audi A7 C7 with a heating issue. The passenger side blows warm air (though not as hot as it should), while the driver’s side blows cold air, especially at higher speeds. When the car is stationary, the cabin heats up more effectively. Same case for the rear. The coolant level is fine, the system has been flushed recently, and the thermostat is functioning correctly, holding the engine temperature at 90°C. Could this be due to a blend door actuator failure, a partially clogged heater core, or an issue with the HVAC control module? Sometimes messing with the recirculation button temporary fixes it for a few minutes. Has anyone had any similar symptoms and found a solution?
I'm dealing with this now in Audi a3 tdi 2014. passenger gets warm, I get cold. not sure what to do.
Hey there, i also just fitted a new clutch from LOF and have some vibrations when changing gears and accelerating. Did you experience the same? Also, why did you not use the a torque setting at the at clutch. I think 29Nm is written in the handbook?
My exact issue. I did replace the thermostat before checking the matrix. I also checked the expansion bottle and the silica bag was bloody empty.

Hello mate I was wondering if i have to take out timing chain in order to change oil pump chain? Thanks very much
@@TheMaximussx No just back off the auto adjuster and remove 👍
Got mine replaced but seems now the passenger side is hot but the drivers side is luke warm what else could it be
@@DarrenHutchinson-v4f if you have duel heater (can select different temperatures for driver and passenger) i would start looking around there see if they are doing anything when selecting a different setting.
@ no mate it don’t have duel heater control
@@DarrenHutchinson-v4f chances are the pipes were full of the granuels so when the new one is fitted the matrix will clog with whats left in the system thats why they need flushing out
Great video thanks pal
Nice video. I replaced my spigot bearing at around 120,000 miles when I changed the clutch. I didn't realise at the time there was a void at the back of the bearing and I didn't realise either that you can knock through the base of the bearing. I removed the rollers in the centre before working out that I needed to use a bolt as you suggested. I was at it for ages. I rebuilt the engine at around 150,000 miles and replaced the spigot bearing again but it came out in moments using a Machine Mart slide hammer. I'm now finishing off a chassis change at just over 160,000 miles but this time the slide hammer is not working so I will try again with a bolt. Regarding the rear oil seal, I refitted it at 150,000 miles with 2 blobs of sealant as suggested in the Haynes manual but it leaked. This time I will be sealing it all the way round.
Dzięki moje koło wypadło w dwuch kawałkach. Pomocne było to podgrzewanie śruby :)
Got this split bag problem on audi A4 TDI 2020, what a stupid design, now replaced heater matrix and also coolant tank, wich also has full of silca granules. In general brecause of this design fault you get complete heating system overhaul, and many hour in service, wich costs something.
Is the bag in the expansionholdrer in this car to ? Škoda Superb Kombi 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG Sekventiell, 170hk, 2014
@@seidoxu most likely yes. If you remove the cap and look inside you should be able to see it unless it has already been removed
I have my Range Rover which crashed but the headlights sometimes turn ON and sometimes they don’t. the park lights under the headlights don’t turn ON at all Do you know of anyone who can assist in Manchester UK.
Great video have the same issue.. ok to keep that bag out?
@@DarrenHutchinson-v4f yes throw it straight in the bin
Can the coolant feeds to the egr cooler be looped together avoiding the whole thing?
@@markhardman6413 yes quite easily. I still run mine through the cooler even tho ive blanked it just to keep it cool but also help the heaters warm up faster.
@@lifes.projects thanks pal I appreciate your support, mine has been mapped out, I am yet to get either end blanked but it now leaks , such a drama for a 2.2 RWD and a small part 😩
@markhardman6413 Ah yeah I would re seal it when you fit the blanking plates. 2.2 is a little more in depth than the 2.4 but still the same process.
I’m having an issue with my heating in my 2017 Seat Leon TSI FR Technology. The driver’s side vent blows lukewarm air, but the rest of the vents are cold. Could you help me identify the common causes and potential solutions? Thanks very much!
any fixes?
Did you not lock of the bottom camshaft by removing startor motor and then puting in locking pin or was thsis done with out locking rhe main crank shaft and overhead camshafts
No. The manual just said align the timing marks and remove the belt. Fit new belt and make sure timing marks are aligned after 2 rotations
Hi, my van had the same issue, 2012 Ford Transit. Oil cap blowing, replaced the rocker cover with a new one and it's running like a dream. This video really helped me thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video.Really helpful
This happened to my engine, thanks to you I have repaired it myself, great video, thank you.
You are a lifesafer. Broke down alongside the road. Needed to take the tank out to fix the leaking fuel connector. This video saved me, thanks a ton!

Que buen mecánico eres ,no te pregunté que le pones homocinetica que entra al cambio la de la trasmisión central ,aceite o grasa que tipo? Gracias
Bit late finding out now about the f in granules
Try flushing the matrix with a hose pipe to see if it clears it.
I've got the exact same issue mate and the garage told have told me the piston rings are gone but the vans driving mint. Would the excess pressure cause it to spit out oil from the dipstick also
@@nsdrainagenorthwest1631 Yes it does blow the dipstick out, not come across it spitting a lot of oil out but a little would be due to excess pressure. I would replace the injector seals to see if it made a differance before thowing a huge amount for a new engine.
I have a 2.2 diesel 2012, presurising the coolant system, it will eventually blow all the coolant out through the header tank, changed the thermostat but still doing same, any ideas? thanks.
Yes bypass the egr cooler as they are prone to crack. This causes exhaust fumes to get into the coolent and overpressurise the system. Failing that its potentially blown the headgasket
Bonjour, Pourriez-vous me dire si je peux supprimer mécaniquement l EGR sur un 2L2 ... Merci
You can buy blanking plates off ebay and do it like i have or remove the valve completely and blank off the manifolds. If you choose this method you would have to get the the ecu remapped. If you do it like i did then you can run it as normal.
@lifes.projects merci beaucoup pour votre aide
Great video, really nicely filmed too so you can see what's going on 👍. I've just got a new (second hand!) freelander 2 with corroded front and rear sub frames which need replacing and (as usual 😜) everyone looked at me like I was mad when I said I was going to do it. Your video has given me the confidence. AND even though it wasn't relevant, I got completely sucked into the gearbox change - very nice job. Love the tips like using the ratchet straps and suspending the subframe. Thanks for making this ☺
@@drmousette Thank you thats great to hear! Yes i bought this Freelander at the time as it was cheap and needed a towbar while i was rebuilding the Defender. The rear subframe wasnt as bad as the front so manager to get away with it. In all fairness the subframes arnt a bad job as long as everything is supported properly. Be carful with the rear subframes as they are hard to get hold of good 2md hand ones. Seen it a few times where they have been patched, painted and sold and still full of rot!
Can i ask.... You mentioned that you think yours had already been blanked off, if it hadnt already been remapped does that mean it can run normal with a blanking plate and no remap?.... possibly??? i currently have mine stripped to do timing chain, oil pump radiator etc as a major service (theres nowt wrong with it but i want to catch it before it has issues) mine is a 2009 2.4 tdci with 83k on the clock..... im thinking of deep cleanong the egr/cooler/intake while its all apart and while im at it was thinking of a restrictor with the hole so a little gas getts in (enough to stop a mil light) but after hearing you say the above it got me thinking shall i blank it and chance it? cheers wayne.
@@waynestevens3662 Hi Wayne. Ive run mine with a blanked EGR since the rebuild. It puts the EML on after a few week of driving but runs great! As its a 2.4 there is no DPF so dosent need the EGR system to function, You will notice the condition of the oil is much better due to the exhaust fumes not been recycled so either way its better for the engine. The code that it brings up is related to the air mass sensor which is normal and no actual fault with the sensor. I havent had it remapped, I am in 2 minds but i feel like i will be going down the M57 route so there is no point for a re map. Hope this helps
@@lifes.projects Tom you are a legend for replying so quick.... because you have experienced this how do you then knock the mil light off?.... on 1 occasion only mine came on but then went off a few mins later and has never appeared since..... i was going to do a pcv valve as part of my deep service but have read i may then need it to 'relearn' via a scan tool and as ive not got a scan tool i wasnt going to fit it.... ive got to say your videos are perfect and im subscribed.... they have helped no end.... out of interest why are you thinking of going to an M57? with the knowledge and skills you have surely a 2.4 tdci rebuilt every 10 years would keep yours going for decades.😁😁😉😉
@@waynestevens3662 Sorry for the late reply. You will need a scan tool to do the pilot learn, you can always do the work and then take it to a garage for a relearn with their scanner rather than buy your own. It wont hurt it of you replaced it then drive it to a garage. Good way to look at it if you are doing an indepth service! If you are going that far you may as well do the lot. New PCV Valve, fuel pressure regulator (end of the fuel rail), injector seals with new injector bolts, clean/blank EGR cooler and valve 😜. Then relearn the fuel system. As for the M57 no reason at all other than Ive always liked a 6 cylinder deisel engines. From the early days of starting my apprenticeship looking after L322 range rovers, mercedes and BMW with 6 cylinders to moving onto trucks where most engines are 6 cylinders. The way they drive, sound with effortless performance and smoothness just feels right and fancy that in my Defender 😂
@@lifes.projects i better get a scan tool and some more bits on the shopping list then🤣🤣... Thanks again for your input, after watching your vids its refreshing to actually talk to someone who knows and isnt just guessing so thanks again for sharing your experiences😉👍... Any recommendation on a scan tool?😊 Weve also got a 21 plate transit so it may come in handy for other things one day.🙄🤣
My 2014 2.2 has 550,000km on it and has had nothing inside the engine replaced except injectors and turbo. I use Nulon flush every 10,000km oil change. Has had remap at 280,000km and doesnt blow any smoke.
Don't suppose u have ever had a Engine Oil Sample done to check the state of the engine?
Some days i get hot air some days i get luke warm air could this be the same issue?
@@JLRD16 yes sounds like poor circulation through the matrix
@lifes.projects Thanks for the reply pal 👍🏻
Worse thing Land Rover ever did was fitting Ford crap into them..

@@dragibus66 Yes its just a bit of a stretch
Thanks for the video. Is the front of the prop shaft bolted in, or does it slide out after removing the rear torn bolts. I guess the front is just a splined shaft?
@@flymoracer Yes the front Prop joint is bolted in with external Torque Bolts to the PTU (Transfer Box) Flange. If you are wanting to remove the flange from the PTU you need to remove the propshaft to gain access to the large Nut Holding it onto the PTU Output Shaft. Hope that makes sense.
@@lifes.projects yeah, sorry I meant at the front end of the vehicle, that end is just splined right? I didn’t see you remove that end in the video

Volvo say not to replace the water pump unless it's failed.
@@alastair_4343 Thats silly as if the water pump fails chances are the timing belt will fall off and damage the inlet and exhaust valves. Its good practice on Every Timing Belt job to replace the water pump reguardless of condition if it is run off the timing belt.
