    Hiya! I just wanted to say that watching this video has really helped me replace my own pulley. My FL1 2005 auto has only done 76k, but was suffering from the aux belt flapping about so much it would hit the pulley above making a horrendous noise. I had trouble taking off the pulley, but with your heat tip after a few mins it cam off easily! My problem was getting the F##@@#g belt back on! You can't get a decent bite on that tensioner to slip it over. Had to do it in two, firstly hooking the belt over the aircon unit then taking a second to allow me to slide it over the idler. (with the help of a pry bar). HAPPY CHRISTMAS FL1 designers!

    Always leave belt on until you get bolt off, solid flywheels conversion is a bad idea, they're there for good reason and a change will pass on stresses to gearbox and more.

    Really useful, thanks. I've got the ticking noise on my 100,000 mile 2006 TD4 FL1 but the ticking goes when you remove the aircon drivebelt so I think the crankshaft pulley is just wobbling slightly but it does not seem to be getting worse and their is no metallic dust yet. I guess I will have to do this at some point. I'm surprised that you did not need to lock the engine. I guess your wrench is a 500NM wrench?

    A question about tightening the pulley bolt. You only used a impact wrench and said it will only tighten itself when engine running? are you sure as the manual says you have tighten to some incredible torgue. I have a DeWalt DCF899P2. Anyone else unsure about this or some advice. Thank you

    • @lifes.projects
      @lifes.projects ปีที่แล้ว

      As the engine runs it tightens the bolt up naturally. Your Dewalt gun will be fine. Tighten till its tight with the gun and you wont have a problem. Ive done loads like this and never had one come off

    Thanks for the great video.I believe its the same on rover 75 diesel,mine one is noisy and am hoping to change it.On ebay theres one for 34 pounds but on most sites and euro carparts its upto 187.Should i go for the expensive one or get the cheap one,thanks

    • @lifes.projects

      Yes its the same part. I got a new pulley and aux belts for £100 off ebay. Checked the reviews were really good so went for that one. £34 seems very cheap but parts companies are really expensive. Think is with such as Euro if it fails within a year you can take it back and they will replace it under warranty.

    • @lifes.projects

      It can cause problems. Snap belts, belt tensioner to fail, and excessive vibration through the crankshaft that cause Duel Mass Flywheel to wear.
