If you lower the expectation level you open the door for people to become lax/lazy. Laziness leads to problems across the board. So, lowering expectations is not only bad for the self. Its equally baf for the spouse

Assalamu alaikum, I agree with everything, however unfortunately there are many Muslim men who want their wives to be educated and to work, and not only to have an income of her own, and not because these men are financially struggling and can not fully provide for them, but because they actually feel the woman is more productive and they do not look at staying home with the children as anything significant sadly, I have actually spoken to sisters who told me that their husbands want them to work, and these were families with children who had more than enough money to provide everything, SubhanAllah, may Allah guide them.

It would help if you talked about how Islam invented slavery. Where the word slavery really came from. Muslims took Eastern Slavs as slaves for their sexual fetish, castrating men, slave labor, etc. What a religion.

I’m a bit confused here so basically we should ignore all the bad and not talk about it and just focus on the good ? Won’t the bad always like be at the back of your mind and I mean like a human can only take so much what if your partner repeatedly does things that disturbs your peace of mind ? Should we ignore it and think about the good only ? I feel like eventually bottling up feelings lead to explosion and in the end things will be said whereby both hurt each other because they never sat and spoke about the bad and fix it . I’m really confused if someone could just clarify that for me

Marriage is a beautiful/ serious experience! Every Muslim should try his best to get married as soon as possible! With all beautiful things you will have with marriage, there are a lot of responsibilities and hard work that comes with that 🤝 No body is perfect, try to turn a blind eye to the negative things, and focus and appreciate the positive things 🥳

I’m not sure the prevailing culture is suited for marriage anymore. Children are not raised to be spouses, they’re raised to adopt the prevailing cultures dating norms. I do want to be married, but the trade off is such a risk. When the options you have are told to be deceptive “for the greater good” I’m struggling to be optimistic, or even to walk out entirely.. whoever reads this, I do hope you the best, but that’s my thoughts at present.

Plural marriage is Sunnah for the one who can afford it, and is not obligatory, according to scholarly consensus. As for the one who cannot afford that and fears that he will not be able to treat co-wives justly, he should settle for just one wife.

Assalamu aleykum wa rahmatuLlaahi wa barakatuh, How do you imagine being a second wife in the land of kufr? get social benefits and be a second wife? According to Sharia, it is not allowed to take social benefits if a woman is married. many obtain money from the government by deception, which is haram.

    1. This is OPTION, not mandatory, nor is it recommended by scholars because most men cannot actually handle this situation without ruining their Akirah. WOMEN HAVE A RIGHT BY ALLAH TO SELECT THEIR SPOUSE, their marital conditions (staying monogamous be accepting polygamy), or even staying single!! Women are NEVER obligated to accept polygamy and Islam did not force women to engage in this. Many cultures don’t accept it and IT IS NOT WRONG. 2. Most men do NOT have the financial means to afford more than 1 family; people are struggling with even 1 family and rights of 1 wife and even raising 1 or 2 kids. On top of that, many men are relying on the wife’s income to make ends meet, so how can they consider something they are Islamically not qualified for?? 3. Currently in the world, on the global scale, there are more MEN than women. Usually slightly more boys are born than girls, and usually there is no imbalance outside of war and extreme situations 4. Some men actually do NOT want more than 1 wife and are actually super happy with 1 partner. And many scholars actually stick to no marriage or monogamy because polygamy eats up too much time and too many obligations. You don’t have any time left to worship Allah or learn the deen. 5. Marriage is not the only purpose of life, so when will we MOVE ON from this constant polygamy debate, and *gasp* is it allowed, when, etc. It is just a **personal choice,** like if someone like or dislikes certain foods. It doesn’t make it haram to not like some foods. 6. Gaslighting with “are you better than wives of the Prophet PBUH” or Sahabah is really pathetic. They lived in a different culture 1400 years ago, and even many Arabs today don’t practise this. And the wives of the Prophet PBUH had jealousy; it’s clear that their Preference** would be monogamy, if given the choice, but Allah divinely decreed that the first wife of the Prophet PBUH would be his only wife (monogamy) and the wives that followed would be co-wives. This is not about being *better.* Making a personal choice is not about better than anyone else. It’s just that we are human and humans are different culturally, personality wise, and situation wise.

Polygamy can work if all parties genuinely fear Allah SWT. Unfortunately only Allah SWT knows a person's heart. External appearances can be deceiving. I never considered polygamy until I met a handsome and charismatic dawa brother who seemed sincere and religious. He told me he wanted to marry a second wife because his first wife has a chronic sickness and he respects me because I'm a religious niqabi and he wants to marry me for the sake of Allah. 2 years down the line he's fallen in love with a very young woman whose not religious, doesn't wear basic hijab, and openly flirts with men. It's pure lust and sexual attraction with her, nothing else. So a word of warning. Some brothers start getting carried away after they take a second wife. Next he'll be looking for a 3rd, and then a 4th, even though realistically most men in the West (I'm in the UK) don't have the time or money for 4 wives.
