Weekend Dismantles (Cut and Leave)
Join me on a Saturday at a local farm removing and dismantling some trees. The first being a sycamore that was starting to show signs of decay - growing out of the side of a wall. The second was the first of a number of Ash trees. Should be a straight forward job in a lovely setting. Watch to the end to see how it unfolds.

In this video we removed a beech tree that had recently had a large snap out. There was a large bracket on the stem and all the weight was heading over towards the building. There was also a leggy Sycamore to remove which was done on the second day. Nice to finally work in some sunshine. Bad Weather Big Beech Removal
มุมมอง 1.9K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Filmed in a bad patch of weather in the north of England this large Beech tree was removed from a school over three days. The long limbs had a generally decent drop zone, but once in the tree a huge percentage of them where tangled and simply sending one limb at at time would not work. The job get very interesting on the second day with a storm coming in and 40mph wind gusts. We had the mewp to...

How old is that tree?
@@gwc3721 Not sure to be honest, they are pretty fast growing probably around 70 years.
So sadifying
Oh yeah, nice and crispy
hi where did you get the purple chainsaw spanner from been looking for one for ages
@@BenGipson-g1s hi, good question. They where pending patent when i got this the companies called OTT. No sure where I got it from I think they had a few on an ebay shop
Thats a good days graft.
@@willtricks9432 cheers..was a nice enjoyable day really 😊
Thanks for the vid and well done. You are right in saying that trying to sharpen a chain on site is near impossible .I always carry a spare chain and i usually take a different length bar and chain also..
Cheers.... Yeah absolutely, I try and carry a spare bar for the saws where I can.
If only every job was cut and leave!
It would be nice, domestic jobs always look good with a good tidy up after though.
All good 👍👍Mark
All good Mark thanks 👍
I take and use two chains as well, sharpening on the job is never as good as in my workshop.
Exactly this! Really been working well since Christmas. Got these little boxes to hold the chains too now
@@MattGlynn Another little bit of kit is a grease gun for the nose bearing .
@@leslienaylor4935 always good to have one of them. Stil bars dont have a grease port though.
Love to see the tree climbing back 😎
Its the best bit of tree work for sure 😊
@@MattGlynn100% I’m also a tree surgeon, on the Isle of Lewis and Harris you get some cracking views here.
Get a 200t. I have one its my favorite saw ever
You mean like this? 😉 th-cam.com/video/Pes46DTlOnM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-mkRFFraD7EK1pNN
@ BEAUTIFUL
That saw sounds like its held back a little bit, not as crisp as 2 stroke saws normally are, maybe needs tweaking a little?
Yeah Mabie, this video was over a year ago, running fine at the minute.
petzl zig zag and chicane best gear ever
Very versatile and cheap compared to other bits of kit. Been using them for years now.
She'll be reet. Happy new year!
Haha, a bit of click bait really 🙄
Nice black smock jacket were can I get one like that all the best Mark 👍👍
Yeah, i like them, i always break zip jackets carrying logs. You can get them from any military shop really.
All good 👍👍Mark
Thanks Mark 👍
Hi Matt. Are you using an HS 87R or T? How do you rate it? Thanks
Hi, yes its the 87R ive had it for years and never had any issues with it. The one side cutter has is benefits but some people don't get on with them.if i don't need the long reach ill use them..
Great job. Is your trailer a braked one
Thanks Neil, no its not a braked trailer.
@@MattGlynn nor is my 8x5 Ifor William can be a pain rolling about lol. I wanted a braked Ifor William 8x5 but could hardly move it on my own even the 6x4 was heavy with the sides
@@neilgreen9285Yeah I certainly was thinking about that when i got it. I have a couple bricks in the tool box to chock the wheels.
Good clean job From start to finish
Thank you 👍

Great year mate🎉 continue what you do. I just got in to trees and I learned a lot from your videos. Please do more videos , even of jobs that you believe being boring or nothing special. Thank you
Thats great! I really appreciate the support. All the best for 2025 and your arb journey.
Smashed that job top job mate
Thanks mate, really appreciate it 👍
How do ya find it working on your own? Or just a nice bit of variation perhaps. Obvs better 'take home' than having other hands
Its working out ok for the small jobs, its a different way of working and only suited for certain jobs. I find a job that would be a day for two guys i do over a day and half but yes I take all the profit's.
You’re doing a cracking job matt
Thanks Tony, really appreciate it.
Groundsman rock oil lovely and sticky stuff
Nice one I will take a look 👍
well done. lot of graft there
@@nonamegiven2024 thanks ✅

Get yourself an Oregon mulching brush cutter blade. They're about £20 and make mincemeat of brambles and almost everything else. Nice to see some more content from yourself 👍
@@lukeellis8522 i stopped using them because they cut grass a bit horrible. Might have to get one for the bad stuff though. Yeah was good to make another one 👍

Nice one fella 👍
Very satisfying to watch !, but they're healthy tree aren t they ?
Thank you, no it had a large limb failure with fruiting bodies half way up the main stem. That was the reason it was being removed.
' baby ' swans are signets😂
I know it was awesome, they got an escort back to the canal.
Can u smell the lylandie when their being chipped?
Absolutely! Its a nice smell in summer.
Great video man! Makes me wanna wear a GoPro now haha. Also it was really cool to see that you guys do it basically exactly the same way we do it here in the U.S.
@@kierancreed2655 cheers! Yeah its good to watch back on the jobs you've done. Yeah im sure its basically the same. Im sure your trees get a lot bigger though
of all the knot videos for running bowlines, yours is the only video showing actual tree rigging... AND SHOWING HOW to tie inside the knit...working around rigging object.... the others are just showing bowline only knots, then run the working side through, which isn't possible if you're Actually in a tree rigging attached limbs. So, THANK YOU!!!
@@blackflagpirate not a problem, thanks for the comment 👍
matt, is that a ported saw you using mate? if so , who did it for you? great to find someone whos fairly local .
@@John-m2s5e hi John, ive done a few mods but its not ported. Muffler mod and timing advance thats all.
I just got one. I am amazed at how loud it is. 😮
I suppose its what your use too. its obviously quiet than a petrol saw but still a powerful machine.
@@MattGlynn 98 dB is pretty loud for an electric chainsaw.
What kind of carabiners are they on the slings?
I think there ISC ones with a captive eye.
Hope you are well mate
All good here 👍
Thanks for the video. Are you still using this? I just purchased it for ship to the U.S. I sent an email to CT to find a distributor and referenced your video so they know why I chose it. Credit where credit is due. Got mine in white, chipper spec with the higher dB muffs and mesh shield. Bought the tinted visor also. $218 for everything, plus shipping and tax. $276.75 total. I think it's worth it for hot weather, Arizona hot weather
@@frontpage1948 Hi, yes im still using it. Really good helmet to be honest. Thanks for sharing its much appreciated. Mine runs out of date soon so will be on the look out for another. Ventilation is really good on them. Its not Arizona hot in England though 😂 Hope you like it.
All that to wash it then drt through a muddy crotch dissatisfied

Thank you.
May I ask a little advice please. I have a monstrous horse chestnut that is subject to a TPO. High sided vehicles have been clipping the bark off the lowest of 3 sub laterals which come off a very short (less than 50 cm from trunk) lateral. I have planning permission to remove the lowermost and damaged sub lateral, but my request to remove the entire lateral was rejected. So a partial approval. I noticed that a previous sub lateral we had removed by a council registered arborist 10 years ago was cut very close to the branch collar and branch ridge had rotted deep into the lateral branch ridge, a water filled cavity large enough for 2 footballs exists. I’ve decided to do the work myself, indeed I’ve finished it. Given the rot (which I pointed out and was inspected by the planning review), instead of cutting a straight line from ridge to collar I decided to leave an extra 10 cm beyond the line of the collar to compensate for rot. Do you think I have made an erroneous decision please, as I can easily cut it flush if advised. Thanks very much. It’s a beautiful specimen but the timber is horrible, it seems to rot and split very easily, reminds me of sycamore timber.
Pas terrible cette marque je préfère largement nylsaw comme fil
I had the Nylsaw brand. Are they not just the same thing though?
