Welcome to our channel!
We're Mariana & Bahi. We met each other in Canada after we had immigrated there from our countries of birth to build a new life for ourselves. After living for almost 2 decades in Canada & traveling sporadically to places such as Cuba, Panama, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Uruguay, etc. we decided to become full time travellers. The main reason for that decision is to gain an appreciation for life, to gather world experiences and to explore different places. You can take a vacation in a country for a few days, but until you stay there for at least a couple of months, you won’t have a good idea about how daily life is in that country. We like to take our time when we travel so that we can fully expose ourselves to the culture, food, and language of each country we visit. We speak 4-5 languages between the both of us & we plan to learn 1-2 more languages in the near future. So, join us in our journey around the world; we are just getting started ☺

MONTEVIDEO, THE CAPITAL CITY OF URUGUAY
In this video, we travel to Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay. We stayed in Montevideo for only half a day so unfortunately we could not do as much as we would have liked to do, but even in a short period of time that we were there, we tried to visit some of the most famous places of the city. Also, in this trip we used the services of another company that offers the trips to Colonia del Sacramento and Montevideo. This company is called Buquebus and in this video we also do a comparison of the experience that you may have while traveling with Colonia Express versus Buquebus. We discuss the comfort, the speed of the whole process of going through immigration and boarding the boats and also the price so you can have a much better idea about the differences. Our first stop after arriving in Montevideo was a square called Plaza Independencia which is surrounded by some of the iconic buildings in the city such as Palacio Salvo, Palacio Estevez (Museo de la Casa de Gobierno), Teatro Solis, and Gateway of the Citadel (Puerta de la Ciudadela). After visiting Plaza Independencia, we walked through a part of the city that is known as the historic part of the city and starts from the Gateway of the Citadel structure. The street is called Sarandí and since this stretch of the street is a pedestrian only street, it is referred to as Peatonal Sarandí. next stop was at a square called Plaza de la Constitución which is another cute little square surrounded by some nice buildings and a few restaurants. The metropolitan cathedral of Montevideo is also located next to this square. After lunch, we continued our walk through Sarandí street and reached another square called Plaza Zabala. This was yet another square surrounded by beautiful buildings, shops and some museums. Next we reached another square called Plaza de la Fuente which is another square very close to the port and where the terminal of Buquebus is located. Right next to this square, you will also find Mercado del Puerto which is a public market full of restaurants, bars, souvenir stores, etc. We hope you enjoy the video :)

Ohh the meat at that market at the end of the video looks yummy.
We were drooling over those meat cuts too! 😋
That old building downtown near the main square looks really interesting and indeed different!
Yes! We also loved it 😊
Boa noite amigos!
@@global_citizensobrigado o retorno❤
That lunch looked a bit overpriced to be honest 🤷🏻
Yes I agree; we also definitely felt like it was too expensive for what it was
Very nice and it also looks relatively safe. Was is safe or this is what I feel from watching the video?
Yes I would say it is mostly very safe, but if you go by the water or maybe some other parts of the city, you might find some areas that are not that comfortable to walk around. That being said, as a capital city it was really nothing that we did not expect.
Ohhh that duty free shop is looking gooooooood 😉😂
Ohhh yeah it's pitty we don't have space in our suitcases, otherwise I would definitely fill up them suitcases with a couple of nice bottles of alcohol. However, the prices were not also that much cheaper really so it was like it was a great deal to be honest.
And this is the video for our second trip to Uruguay. In this video we visited the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo! What did you think of this city, the trip and the video? Share your thoughts with us below 🙂
درود و سپاس🙏 سفر در سفرتون خوش و به سلامتی🍀💐

Yes we loves the whole state of Minas! It is indeed a beautiful place to visit
El dinero que existía en esos tiempos, que Buenos Aires podía traer 1/4 de Paris o Roma cruzando el Atlántico.

I see you are having a complete experience with Argentina and Uruguay. There are no Casinos in the City of Buenos Aires, but those two ships, as any ship, are under federal jurisdiction. To prove that they are real ships, both go out of the port and go around in front of the city and back into the port. In those days you are warned that you won'be able to dissembark till the ships return back to their usual mooring places. The struggle between Portugal and Spain came that when America was discovered, the asked the Pope to divide the areas where each country should find lands and take control. Portugal has already found the route around Africa toward the "spices". The spices were very needed for meals. The fall of Constantinople had cut the route of spices that arrived through the Middle East. Spain then discovers America and the Pope signed a Bula with a line that was defined by the Treaty of Tordesillas. It was set as a quantity of leages west of the Azores Island, but then there was a discussion of the measurement of the distancia. It is said that Portugal already knew the existence of Brasil while the Spanish went more to the North. With the Portuguese definition of the line, the tip of Brazil remained on the Portuguese side. And with that line they expanded every time more. Colonia del Sacramento was blatantly too west. And Spain attacked Colonia del Sacramento seven times along the centuries and was succesful six times, but afterwards, when the peace was signed in Europe, it was always returned to Portugal. So it has a very different style in its buildings, because they are al from portuguese origin. The colonial tiles are also known in Spanish as "teja (tlle) muslera (from the thigh)". Therefore it also has a troncoconic form (part of a cone) and not cilindric as modern machine-made ones. Colonia del Sacramento historic is on a península or point called SanPedro. If you go near the water to the west and northwest you can see some islands and north of the Peninsula there is a small port for yachts. And NW of Colonia, like 4Km from de city you can find the Real de San Carlos, that was like the Las Vegas and sin center for the people of Buenos Aires in the first decades of the XX century. It still has a bullring that was closed to structural problems in the building but now is open to visits, because the are no bull fighs in Uruguay nor in Argentina.
boring as hell
@lisderoa thank you so much for sharing all of this info with us; as usual we truly appreciate it 🙏😊

Boa noite Mariana, Bahi e amigos inscritos. Adorei ver o video de hoje e saber que Portugal deixou muito da sua cultura neste pais também. Realmente lembra Parary até nas pedras das ruas. Hi guys, amazing video! Luccianos is also a relatively new brand that has amazing alfajores. They also have their factory in Mar del Plata. They have nothing to envy from Havanna alfajores, and the price is a little bit lower. Cheers.
Ohh wow, very interesting! We have always had their ice cream, but now that you mentioned it, we will definitely try their alfajor too, just to compare it with Havanna. Thanks for watching our video and for keeping in touch; we really appreciate it 👍

Hello again. It so nice that you visit other places of Argentina outside Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires is also called "Capital Federal" since it became the national capital in 1880. And La Plata was officially founded in 1884. The public buildings all have one european style from Belgium, Germany and some other countries EXCEPT Spain because at that time resentment against the Spanish as colonizers was still active. Only with the visit of the Infanta Isabel de Borbón (the Spanish Princess) that changed and Spain became the Mother Contry of Argentina. The original streets and avenues were 1 to 31 in one direction (NW-SE aprox) and 32 to 72 across them (NE-SW, aprox). And the diagonals start in 73. Usually foreigners get lost because of the diagonals but it is said that if you learn how to use them you can get wherever you want very fast. Remember that in most cities of Argentina that have this checkerboard design, each block of building of a streen have 100 numbers. From the starting point of the street the first block wil have 0-100 with odd numbers on the right side and the even numbers on the left. It's obvious that there will be missing numbers, because the doors receive the numbers according to their position between the two corners. This makes easy to know how many blocks you must walk to reach your destination. In Buenos Aires the street near downtown start in Rivadavia Street wchich passes on the side of Plaza de Mayo, and the perpendiculars start in Avenida Madero/Huergo. In Rivadavia all streets change their name, because one starts towards the North and the other towards the south. Example: Florida is Perú on the other side. The Museo de Ciencias Naturales de La Plata is something you shouldn't miss. It has very nice specimens and some from the Pampas, like the Glyptodonts. In Argentina archeologists have found the biggest dinosaurs in the world, but the specimens are in Patagonia, where they were found, specially near the El Chocón hydroelectric dam.
Thank you for sharing all the fascinating details about La Plata and Argentina's history and urban planning, we really appreciate it! All the best 👍
