- In this video, we continue visiting Curitiba and we start by a very famous Italian neighbourhood in Curitiba called Santa Felicidade. This neighbourhood is full of lovely stores for chocolate, wine, cheese, cold cuts and much more as well as some of the best Italian restaurants in Curitiba. Our next stop was the museum of automobiles in Curitiba which was a great surprise to us. It was not in our plans to visit this museum, but we are very glad we did. Right across the road from the museum of automobiles, there is a gigantic park called Parque Barigui. The park is absolutely huge and has so much to offer from bicycle paths to paths for walking/jugging, outdoor gym, coffee shops, a huge lake and much more. After the park we visited a tower which is known as the Panoramic Tower or Torre Panorâmica. From the top floor of this tower you have a 360-degree view of Curitiba! Our last stop was yet another park called Parque Tingui where you also find a building known as the Ukrainian memorial or memorial ucraniono which is built in the honour of Ukrainian immigrants that came to Curitiba during the past century and contributed a lot to the city. One interesting fact about Barigui (and most of the other parks in Curitiba) is that they are *meant* to flood during heavy rain periods, to act as a buffer and prevent other urbanized areas from flooding

I haven't been in Curitiba for decades but seeing the video gave me the desire to return. It's not so far away from São Paulo, were I'm living (500 km).

Yes we did pass by it when we visited downtown Curitiba, but unfortunately we heard that the birds are kept in a cage and since we do have a pet, we are not really ok with keeping birds/animals in cages. So, we didn't visit/film there since we did not want to promote that. However, you are absolutely right; we have heard the place is beautiful. The Italian immigrants could not buy land, they came without money in the holds of ships, after the war an agreement was made with European governments that encouraged the poor without culture to come to Brazil, the Brazilian government provided the ships, many died on the journey and were thrown into the sea. Brazil also provided land on lease, but the majority worked on the farm, replacing the recently freed slaves. That's the real story.
