Revolution Rationale: Panel Discussion
This a panel discussion on democratic revolution in the 21st century between: Terry Rankin, Dwayne Booth (aka radical cartoonist, Mr. Fish), Roger and Dr. Glenn Albrecht (Australian philosopher, activist, and futurist).
This movie-length (80-minute) video herds these cats and gets their philosophical ducks in a row as we're all freefalling through existential absurdity at terminal velocity into extinction annihilation.
00:00 - Introduction
11:30 - What is to be a Revolutionary?
33:00 - Building New Language
43:00 - Symbols of Revolution
57:00 - Humour in Revolution

Transforming Yourself
มุมมอง 1.6K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Let's face it - revolution isn't all sunshine and rainbows. We've got to grapple with the highs of optimism and the lows of historical disappointments. That's the game we're playing. Some even claim that personal transformation is a prerequisite for effective activism. And yeah, there's some truth to that. We've seen how communal living can either foster selflessness but it can also descend int...
The Challenges of Alienation
มุมมอง 3K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this episode, I'm calling out the tendency among political activists (myself included) to narrow our focus solely on politics, overlooking the broader dimensions of human existence. Let's face it: the world is far more complex than just politics. I'm here to challenge the notion of utopian societies and shed light on the multifaceted nature of alienation-political, social, and existential. F...

Thanks for all that you do Roger. Youre a voice of decensy in this cold world, preaching for renewed social contract and drastisk emission cuts, and mass media should jump on that wagon instead of making fun of you. Thanks for all that you do!! Peace to you

Why would nature create a dissipative structure with any hesitation in burning fossil fuels? It wouldn't. Innate behavioral algorithms guarantee continued competition for energy until technological homeostasis is lost and the death rate begins to greatly exceed the birth rate. Nature's problem was the trapped energy in an energy gradient. We evolved to solve that problem. Problem solved.

Roger, I totally agree with you that the issue is not technical, it is pollical and we must focus on power. I think we may have all the solutions to the technical issues, what we don’t have is the power to implement any of them. I don’t think we can convince the power elite to change their behavior and I think it safe to say that power is derived from money, especially having the exclusive power to create and allocate it. It seems obvious that money and power are two sides of the same coin. The question has long been who should have that exclusive power? Should it be a private system that issues all money as interest-bearing debt for profit, or a public utility issuing permanently circulating asset money for public purpose as its first use, its “first cause” being public care instead of private profit. This will have benefits for all of both physically and psychologically. Money is a social power embodied in law, we need to change the law and the legislation is already written, even vetted by legislative counsel, introduced by Dennis Kucinich in 2011 as the NEED Act HR2990. It is the most Constitutionally aligned and revolutionary legislation in over 200 years and is historically proven. Greenbacks and the Bradbury Pound are historic examples of the power of debt-free money to eliminate debt from the system. It is how to change power relations and must be the focus of our political activism. As Lord Acton said, “The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the people versus the banks. “

U imbecile, have you ever looked at OVER PRODUCTION? Have any idea how much of this petroleum based clothing is being chucked into a landfill every minute straight from the retailers, or before it even reaches the retailers, entirely unsold? Keep believing what your favourite right wing media hosts say without idk ever reading an actual research paper or failing that actually going to a landfill yourself. Keep believing absolutely anything that sounds reasonable to you without evaluating any first or second hand evidence why don't you and without actually *exercising* your reason.

Overthrowing democracy is not a feasible objective, at the very least not in the time we have before climate change utter catastrophe. We need NVDA demanding some concrete economic reforms that people can believe in.

I'm here because I share the concerns of the panel, but I do find this conversation deeply unserious. The notion that democratic revolution will divert us from the path we are on and its likely catastrophic outcomes is, frankly, delusional. We're simply not going to democratically revolutionize a magical alternate energy system to power global industrial civilization, and leaning on the "arts community" to lead us forward to reimagine new ways of being is nothing short of ridiculous. So what are we really doing here, gentlemen?

Perfect illustration of designing the revolution - laying on the couch. I would personally have chosen to wait making such a video, until I could at least sit straight up. Signals and signalling isn't unimportant when talking about getting people engaged! Don't worry, though, the comfortable Frankfurt School and other Trotskyist movement will be exactly this inefficient to succeed. Have a good time recovering, anyhow.
