Never too late
France
One day we wake up and realize that at almost 50-years old we are caught up in an infernal cycle in the "pursuit" of happiness: work, car, house and barbecue... and that all our childhood dreams have disappeared. What do we have to do ? Continue to maintain the extra pounds because it is too late to change anything, it is the easiest solution. Or to make considerable efforts to change our habits. We opted for the second solution! Life can be exciting, so get out there and enjoy.
By following this channel you can see with your own eyes that it is possible: Never too late!

Swiss Winter Hike Series: The journey to Sulegg's Snowy Peak | #1
Join us on an exhilarating winter adventure in the Swiss Alps! Fresh from our previous hikes in Annecy, including Mamelon Vert and Pointe de Presset, we set our sights on a multi-day expedition in the stunning region of Grindelwald. Starting in the charming village of Isenfluh, we embark on a challenging journey, braving unpredictable weather, snow-packed trails, and breathtaking landscapes.
In this episode, we head towards the summit of Sulegg, a modest 2,413-meter peak, perfect for warming up before our big ascent. Equipped with our drone and camera, we capture incredible footage of the snow-covered peaks, despite the looming clouds. Along the way, we face unexpected challenges: sudden weather changes, steep climbs, and limited visibility. Will we reach the summit in time before the weather takes a turn for the worse?
Karen adds her unique flair to the trip, trying out new, fun ways to descend through the snow, as we push ourselves through this epic adventure. Whether you're here for the stunning alpine views, the behind-the-scenes filming action, or just a taste of nature, this video has something for every adventurer.

I call Bietschhorn an impregnable fortress, I tried to climb it alone in all seasons and after several unsuccessful attempts I finally made it to the top. The Bietschhorn, nicknamed "the King of Valais", is a peak in the Swiss Alps. It reaches almost 4,000 meters above sea level, 3.934 meters exactly. I saw it for the first time during our hike around Saas-Almagell (th-cam.com/video/5vM9agf-LtY...

Excellent video. Some of those scenes left a chill down my back from the sheer drop off.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video-those sheer drop-offs can definitely be breathtaking (and a bit nerve-wracking!). Make sure to subscribe and keep an eye out for more videos from the area, including one I made about the Wetterhorn. I think you'll love it! 🌄😊
👏👏👏👍
Awesome video - when did you make the climb, and what was the temperature like at the biv site overnight?
Thank you! I made the climb on September 24th, and the temperature at the bivy site overnight was around 0° to 3°C. Do you have plans to climb the Eiger yourself?
@@never-too-late Cheers thanks for the info. Yes, I was doing some research and found your GPX (thank you!). I've only ever top-roped, and I have hesitation about using wild fixed-ropes so I'll have some training ahead of me. Thanks again for the vid!

nice video, but music is not necessary imo
Thank you for your feedback! I understand that preferences for music can vary, and I actually have a low-music version available: 😊th-cam.com/video/oTAD14AwKjE/w-d-xo.html
"Top of Europe" - literally everything around it is higher 😆. Who names these things?
That's a good question! The term "Top of Europe" is actually more of a branding or marketing name rather than a literal geographical description. It refers to the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland, which has the highest railway station in Europe, making it a symbolic "top" for visitors. 😊
I wish you had left out the music.

Your videos inspired me to climb the Eiger's west flank in summer. As a beginner mountaineer, I believe rappeling should be the only technical thing to master first for the west flank. Thank you for your videos, it gave me more passion for the mountains. Even though in Winter it gets too difficult. :)
Thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad my videos inspired your passion for the mountains. The Eiger’s west flank is an ambitious goal, and it’s great that you’re focusing on mastering technical skills like rappelling. Are you planning to attempt the climb alone, or will you have someone experienced with you? As a beginner mountaineer, I’d recommend trying some easier peaks first to gain experience and confidence. The Bristen could be a great choice-it’s challenging but manageable and will help you prepare for bigger climbs.
It's NEVER too late :-)
So, you left the green belt when using your 60 meter rope?
Yes, I did leave the green belt when using my 60-meter rope! Were you able to complete that section as well, or are you planning to try it soon?

Can you provide an exact ascents date?
The exact date of the ascent was the 24th of September. Do you plan to climb this mountain?
Was there a reason that you didnt rope up for the Glacier hike to the first Hut?
There wasn’t a particular reason; it’s just faster to not be roped up for that section. The terrain felt manageable and safe without needing the extra setup, but it was certainly a mistake. Does it answer your question?
@@never-too-late yes thanks👍🙂

@@never-too-late Thanks for the reply. I used to mountaineer up until I injured my back 2 years ago :( So I can only walk for 1-2 hours now and also if I was to slip I would be in big trouble. So I can't do another mountain yet. I am waiting for "further" help from the health service but I am not confident in them as they have barely helped me at all so far. I am on a very long waiting list for "pain management" (instead of surgery) because apparently I have to do that first. I think they want me to give up and live like this forever. But I am hoping I can save up to get private health care instead and get it fixed properly one day. So your videos give me something to look forward to and stay hopeful :) Thank you
I'm really sorry to hear about your injury and the long wait you're going through for treatment. It must be incredibly frustrating not to get the help you need, especially when you want to get back to doing what you love. I'm glad that the videos give you something to look forward to - stay hopeful! Wishing you a smooth recovery, and in the meantime, it's great that you're still able to enjoy some walking. Take care of yourself, and thank you for sharing your story!
@@never-too-late Thanks a lot man. One day I will do some of the ones you have done :)
I have really enjoyed watching your videos! I also have a question regarding the issues that I saw you having with your crampons. What is it about the crampon that is causing the issue, and have you resolved it yet? I have a similar boot and want to get crampons eventually without having problems.
I'm glad you've enjoyed watching my videos! Regarding the crampon issue, the problem was with the metal bar that connects the front and back parts of the crampon. If you have larger feet, you might end up using the last adjustment hole, which can cause the two parts of the crampon to separate. To solve this, I bought a longer bar, which allows me to use the next adjustment hole instead, ensuring the crampon stays secure. There are still additional holes, so it's not at the last one anymore. Feel free to ask if you have more questions! Don't forget to share my videos with your friends and subscribe to my channel.
Did you aclimatise before for this?
Acclimatisation can be different for everyone, but I personally didn't have any major issues with it. Doing lots of trail running definitely helped me prepare for this. About a month earlier, I climbed Wetterhorn, which also contributed to my acclimatisation. You can see the video by following this link: [th-cam.com/video/hYpjMXDhuRQ/w-d-xo.html].
