Alles gute.
Thank you for sharing your amazing experience. The soundtrack volume is much better now, although a bit more silence could also be beneficial. Jokes aside, the video story is great. I am curious about your gear choices and techniques. Regarding the stove and gas, I understand that you intended to melt the snow, but I think you could consider using just one small canister (which you can purchase at Decathlon). Also, the Jetboil is too heavy and bulky. Perhaps I would suggest a small canister and a super-light and cheap stove like the BSR, along with a 400 ml small cup. This way, you could have more than halved the weight. I found the red tape marker technique very curious, as it reminds me of the tale of Tom Thumb. Was it really useful in practice? I believed that the Ouest path was full of "signs" for the frequent passages. Isn't it?
I also have a curiosity about the rope. 60 meters is quite heavy! If you only intended to use it for rappelling, maybe a smaller static rope could have helped? I purchased two 30 meter thin half ropes from Decathlon, but I admit that the weight is similar. During the descent, did you always rappel on occasional stones, or did you find some "fixed" pitons/bolts? All in all, it would be very interesting to see a video where you explain what gear you used and your thoughts afterward. Thank you again for sharing your amazing experiences. Giorgio
One more time thank you very much for your feedback. Regarding the use of the stove, it is because for two days you would have to take several liters of water with you, you can never be sure to find running water unless you know the route to the advance which wasn't my case. I was sure to find the snow, so using the stove to melt the snow is safer. Regarding red tape, this to avoid using paint (it's more ecological). On Wetterhorn (th-cam.com/video/hYpjMXDhuRQ/w-d-xo.html) I had a bad experience when I got lost between the ridges and the GPS didn't give a precise position given the vertiginous walls around me. On Eiger, some passages were covered with snow and in other places there were no cairns so it was difficult for me to find the right route. In the end, I find the marking of the route useful to be able to return safely. Regarding the rope, it is very light (PETZL Rad Line 6 mm - Static Rope). I only used my sling once. There are pitons/bolts and slings quite often. I will try to make a video on the material I used and on my feedback.
@@never-too-late Thanks for your feedback! Water: I know it's always a big "question mark" in mountains, especially in recent years. Rope: You did a smart choice. bonjour, j'aime beaucoup vos vidéos.
Thanks for pointing me to the low volume video which is a lot better. I know how difficult it is to shoot and edit video as well as having to climb the mountain ! I do feel that background music is over used these days even on TV documentaries. The film makers love it here in the UK, it gets on my tits. Personally I would just like to hear your commentary and the sounds around you. The film and views don't need anymore. As well as mountain stuff I watch a lot of woodworking videos and some play heavy metal ! Soon move away away from them. The video is stunning and as for 'poor drone shots' that flyby of you at the summit and then showing the valley floor is superb. BTW, all that video stuff and drone you have dragged up there made things complicated. It's hard enough at zero metre getting the drone out and flying let alone at 4000 metres ! What model drone did you use ? I guess DJI. Again, thanks for you films, they are very interesting.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for acknowledging the effort that goes into shooting and editing these videos. We hear you on the point about background music. It’s always a delicate balance to strike between enhancing the video and preserving the authenticity of the moment. One challenge we often face is that the recorded sound quality can be poor due to the conditions we're filming in. This is one of the reasons we lean on background music to enhance the overall viewing experience. However, we appreciate your preference for natural sounds and commentary, which truly bring the essence of the adventure to life. Given your suggestions, we're inspired to experiment with a video that minimizes or completely omits background music, allowing the natural ambiance and our commentary to stand front and center. It'll be an interesting experiment to see how it contrasts with our usual content. We’re thrilled you appreciated the drone shots! Despite the challenges of managing this equipment at such altitudes, your positive feedback makes it all worth it. For this adventure, I used a DJI mini 2, which, despite the thin air and cold, performed admirably (I cannot say the same regarding DJI mini 3 pro 🤕😒). Thank you again for your support and for enjoying our films. Stay tuned for more adventures!
Acclimatisation can be different for everyone, but I personally didn't have any major issues with it. Doing lots of trail running definitely helped me prepare for this. About a month earlier, I climbed Wetterhorn, which also contributed to my acclimatisation. You can see the video by following this link: [th-cam.com/video/hYpjMXDhuRQ/w-d-xo.html].
Sure, it's important to choose the right equipment for via ferrata. Given your passion for alpinism and outdoor adventures, you probably already understand the importance of using appropriate gear to ensure safety during such activities. Dyneema slings might not be suitable for via ferrata due to their potential to fail under shock loads, so it's wise to use gear specifically designed for this type of adventure to minimize risks.
This is brilliant, your channel deserves so many subscribers.
