I am loving DF but zoning is confusing me cause I keep trying to set up pens but my animals keep congregating in the meeting hall

Hey new dwarf here Ive been very confused sbout the pasture/pen zone as all my animals end up going to the meeting room witch is underground while the pen is above ground for the time being. Is there a way to keep ceartian animals out of the meeting zones and restrict them to pen zones?

Actually love that Bethesda listened to our criticisms because in the beginning they were highly focused on the PVP aspects of that game and all everybody ever wanted in a fallout game was a PVE experience. It goes to show you that they actually wanted this game to be something special.

Hi, everyone. I am so lost with ranking up and using my perk cards. I am at level 79 and I started at level one. I cannot seem to be able to keep adding one point at a time when I rank up to each of the special sections. As of today, I have: S:15, P:9, E:5, C:9, I:10, A:8, and L:3. (59 points total), but I am stuck without being able to keep adding points. "LUCK" has been at "3" for over 20 levels now and I can't add a point to make it a "4". Again, I cannot or forgot how to do it, or I changed something on my end that I cannot get back to being able to add points. I can only add to an single perk card (add a start to it) without being able to add a point to the larger "Luck" category, for example. Ques: Do I have to wait until I get to level 100 (as an example) to once again start adding to my SPECIAL? Is it possible to add 15 points to each SPECIAL category? Is there a limit to how many point one can put into SEECIAL before one can no longer add points? HELP! LOL. This part is not very intuitive. Thanks!

Yeah retiring your fortress is cool not just for the legends mode, but also just having a consistent world where you can go back and settle across from your old fortress, or try to reclaim a fortress you lost to goblins or whatever is super interesting, and really starts to connect the world outside of your one single fortress. I haven't done it yet, but I also had an idea to equip a purely militaristic group to claim a hostile fortress, then retire it, and come back with a more well rounded group to settle in.

One question. Does Rimworld have a tech tree? I think the more I've played these colony type games, and survivor games in general, I've come to realize that I hate tech trees. If I have the supplies to do something, just let me do it. Don't make me grind XP to unlock it, especially if that grinding entails doing things or making hordes of junk I don't want or need just for the sake of XP.

I try not to "cheat" but its a single player game only so not a big deal. I enjoy the grinding but certain items like you said expert tool can get frustrating after days of not getting it. Also I think the fact you cannot ever pick up a weapon or armor that is usable, I think that's dumb "personally" so I change that in the mod config to drop way higher conditions, makes it more reasonable. especially playing on hard.

Thanks for the tips. Still the most powerfull weapons are useless if you do not know how the work. For me its the cards, building, teams, all the junk and armor. I am level 17 and still struggle so hard. And the game is explaining almost nothing.
