    Great review as always. Curious to hear your thoughts on this bag vs the Alpaka Metro Pro. Which of the two would you pick and why? Also, I know the Metro Pro is listed as 24L but which of the two can hold the most?

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks! Hmmm, they’re pretty different bags. The Alpaka feels more refined whereas the SERT is more rugged. I’d say the SERT holds more due to the external bottle pockets. Tough to make a call but I’d go with the Alpaka because of the dedicated tech storage for both a laptop and tablet. I don’t love the internal pouches on the Metro though.

    • @ggtv89
      @ggtv89 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ECsEDC Interesting choice. I guess the Penumbra reminded me of the Brown Buffalo Concealpack, which is not too dissimilar from the Metro Pro in terms of structure and features. And seeing as AON recently restocked this bag, I was considering giving it a chance. It seems to have a bunch of features I wished the Metro Pro had: external water bottle pockets, a top QA pocket and a full clamshell opening - the latter being my main gripe with the Metro Pro. And while it does certainly have a sleeker aesthetic, the Penumbra 2.0 seems to be a tad more functional. Thank for your response!

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      100% on the external bottle pockets. That is one of the best feature on this bag. I think you're right about functionality, but for me the biggest need is tech storage. I don't love when bags have an easy to access tech compartment. If you were leaning towards the Sert -- go for it.

    Peak design packing cubes are 33cmx33cmx16cm(8cm compressed) The bag is 29cm outside, so 27-28cm inside? and 10cm deep at the bottom. How did you manage to fit the cube in the main compartment yet alone alongside with a cap2 on top? Is it at 70-80 percent capacity (the pd cube that is)? Or is the bag that flexible and it is capable of expanding up to 2 inches widthwise?

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I’ve never had a problem with any PD cube and an EVERGOODS bag, no matter how stuffed they are. Between the flexibility of clothing and the fabric of the bag, they both give enough to compensate for the fit.

    I am currently deciding between this bag and the AER City Pack pro. I prefer the water bottle feature on the AER bag since it’s a quicker access but I know they are not the tightest grip. Glossy water bottles tend to fall out. Which is a better bag in your opinion? Thanks!

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ I think they are similar. GORUCK has much thicker straps that take much longer to break in but when those break in, they’re more comfortable than the CTs. Neither has a back panel that breathes well either so prepare for a sweaty back when it’s warm out.

    Can you fit a pair of dress shoes with a pair of dress pants shirt and sport coat and another casual outfit in the ctb20....or would it be a bit tight.

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s definitely a little tight but I do think it would work. I laid my shoes at the bottom (size 11 was tight for the bag’s width) with the soles in opposite direction. You have somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 of the main space for your clothes. I’d flip the jacket inside out and fold up, lay the pants on top and then you could probably get another outfit in there. Not sure if you also need a dopp kit but that might be hard to fit in addition.

    • @johnpuchalski1369
      @johnpuchalski1369 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ECsEDCThanks for the quick reply. I'm thinking I could put some of the toiletries in the front pocket, or even in one of the water bottle pockets. The ctb 26 is just too big for EDC and this might be the perfect size for EDC and a day business trip bag. And also a companion travel bag for longer trips since it has a pass through and a day pack since it has water bottle pockets....it's almost perfect... Wish is was one inch shallower in depth and worried about the back digging issue I hear. Have you experienced that?

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@johnpuchalski1369I don’t experience the back digging at all with evergoods products. I’m 6’ but the real measurement is torso length so take that with a grain of salt. It may be one of those things that’s hard to gauge until you have it person and load it out. There’s a lot of discussion around the depth of the CTB20/26. The 20 is 8.5” deep and the 26 is 9, so both are deep bags, but that’s what allows for the bottle pockets, and likely one of the main reasons the CPL24 (7” depth) is unlikely to ever get bottle pockets. Hope that helps!

    What are your thoughts on this vs the CPL24? I am torn between the two.

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Both very sleek bags. The Citadel is very technical, offering some pretty neat water resistant and recycled re/cor Cordura exterior that includes taped seams. The new version is built without PFAs, which is great to see. The Citadel also has a luggage passthrough, which the CPL24 does not, which is a nock when it comes to travel. But the Citadel makes you purchase the side handle separately which I’m not a huge fan of. While the technical features are incredible, and great for wet locations, I opted to sell my Citadel and keep the CPL24 due to the overly complex internal organization and because the triglides on the straps would not stay where I had them previously adjusted - though I cannot confirm if that’s been fixed in this recent version. Both are great bags, and I don’t think you’d go wrong with either. Hopefully that helps!

      It was created for the latter but it remains great for an admin pocket. It’s also surprisingly large in volume, making it ideal for larger or chunkier items.

    Just wanted to give an update cause I had commented about 2 months ago about a trip and was wondering which bag to take. I ended up going with the Aer go pack 2 for my 14 day trip to Japan. It was AWESOME! Super lightweight and had a great amount of space. My daily carry during the trip was: light jacket, some meds, portable charger, wallet, passport. And then each day I usually ended up buy some water/snacks, and did some light shopping in the neighborhoods I visited. I would 100% recommend this bag to anyone else who is looking for a good packable day pack. ONE FLAW: I ran into rain for 1 single night in Tokyo. The bag got soaked pretty good actually but nothing got wet inside (I wouldn't trust this though and would still bring a cover for it if you know you're gonna get a lot of rain.) But the one flaw that happened to me - the outer dump pocket with the clasp got wet inside. I didn't have anything in there, but because there is no drainage in that pocket, the next day I shoved some stuff in there and it ended up still being soaked in there. It was my own fault because I forgot to let it air out overnight and therefore that pocket stayed wet and never dried out. Other than that, this is my new go to packable bag! I love it and would highly recommend.

    You have a great channel with really awesome bags reviews. I am a subscriber and fan. Why are you afraid to talk about the front bottom pocket as it's intended purpose, a CCW compartment. It is literally advertised as such on their website. Front pockets: Top front QAP (quick access pocket) that is approximately 9" x 5.5" with a 4" x 2.25" loop patch in front with matching fabric cover. Side zippered access CCW pocket that is approximately 10" x 10". This CCW pocket has a loop back wall for you to mount a hook & loop compatible holster like our V-Kit.

    I assume that if I were to go on a month long trip or longer, I should go for the regular size and not the small? Whereas if I were to go on say a 2 week trip/edc, the small would be more ideal? I really do like the regular size of this pack, but I'm wondering if the weight difference between the small and regular size is all that substantial when packed out? Not necessarily to the max, but pretty close to it.

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d say the Small for either. This is based on being able to do laundry and being practical with packing. If you’re a heavier packer the regular is better but you could surely get by with small. Just depends on your packing style and what you plan to bring.

      @Michaelhawaii50 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is the perfect bag for me too, but the lack of a grab handle is the reason I'm not buying it. When it's in the car passenger seat or actually anywhere, picking it up from a grab handle makes it easy, especially if it's loaded with stuff. I understand if it's a 1.5 or a 2L but this is a 5L bag. There's a lot of others saying the same thing on other reviews, too. Rework did respond to my inquiry about the lack of a grab handle and they were looking into it. May be the 2nd version might have it....? I think they'd sell a lot more. With handle, it'll really be the perfect sling!

    • @calblue6147
      @calblue6147 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Michaelhawaii50 I just bought my Toshi Sling. I agree. A grab handle would be great, but there is opportunity to place your own handle on this. You can loop a strap through the two access points at the top of the bag. Connect the ends of the loop with a side release backpack buckle. The handle wouldn't be at the very top of the bag but slightly in the back, but would still work as a grab handle.

      @@ECsEDC Appreciate your response. I'm struggling to choose between the CTB20 and this one. You did mention that the Metro Pro feel smaller than other usual 24L. I like the smaller form factor. Would you say the Metro Pro exterior is somewhat close to the CTB20?

    • @ericcollins910
      @ericcollins910 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dchoi535The exteriors are slightly different. The CTB uses 420d nylon that has a very smooth feel. The Metro has a more coarse hand feel, as the denier is 600. If you’re not planning on any other hikes, if just use the bags you already have. No point to purchase the CTB20 for hiking when you have the CTB26 and CPL24 - unless you really want it 😎 If you plan on more hikes and being outdoors more often, and still want something from EVERGOODS, I’d say the MPL22. Otherwise I’d go something more hiking specific like Osprey for a purpose built backpack.

      @brainycelica หลายเดือนก่อน

      thank you for replying! I forgot to mention that my “hike” is really an overnight kind of thing at best, and walking up stairs at mountains or some more civilised trails, cos I am still very much a newbie hiker. Other times depending on how the situation calls it I will still be using the bag daily, and I have very much a digital nomad too bringing my laptop and work around. In an ideal world I can see myself using the MPL for hiking biking and whenever I go for fun activities, while also using my CTB20 as EDC and light travel (along with my TD which can hold most, if not all of my essentials anyway). But now money is tight and time is tight with the OD Green selling out soon. If you were to bite the bullet and choose one, which one would you get first, at least?

Great quality materials and organization. Am looking to add the 28l as it has the same, just smaller and seeing if I can use as edc as it does look smaller (25-26l). The 34l feels more like 31-32l which works for my travel needs. Something not talked about much is torso length. Although I am 5’8” or 173cm, my torso is 21” or 52.5cm, I can’t use much of the edc from AERSF or Evergoods which are mostly 16-18” or 40-45cm+. Looks like I’m wearing a kids pack.

      I can say I‘m a big fan of Heimplanet and there was a time where I owned the Daypack 24, the Travel Pack 28 and the 34. Nowadays I decided that the 24 L Daypack will be my daily driver and overnight backpack while the 34 L Travel Pack is more suitable for a weekend or week-long trip. For real travel habits. Why not only the 28 L Travel Pack as my goldi-lock-bag? Because the 24L is much lighter than the Travel Packs, has decent organization and it features a true horseshoe/Clamshell opening. And I can pack nearly the same as inside the 28 L without losing space from the separat Laptop compartment.
