Very relevant for all detailers. Way too many new detailers trying to get business by quoting low prices that are not sustainable. Some detailers telling callers they can shop around but they will beat any price quote they get. This devalues our profession and the work that we do.

Joel & Sal, I appreciate the both of you tremendously because of the way you break specific aspects of the business down. I booked a consultation with the both of you already and I've still been applying what you reminded me. 🙏🏽 Also, I have to say, a significant amount of things you teach, I have been doing already, but it's exciting to hear another detailer explain it so clearly. For example, the idea of "upselling" as you discussed. I do not necessarily "upsell" either. If I'm doing a detail and I come across something that needs attention, I will suggest or inform the client of a service I offer that can address that. It's up to them to decide whether they want it or not. But I do not just upsell simply to upsell. I thought I was the only one that thought like that 😅

Of course I haven’t watched this yet … mainly because it hasn’t premiered. Haha, just wanted to share my thoughts. First, I make a minimum of $75 an hour detailing vehicles. After taxes, overhead and upkeep, it equates to about $52 an hour for take home pay. However, $75 an hour is just a base number. The price goes up as the level of work goes up. If a vehicle needs more attention than normal … so-to-speak. I don’t have “packages” or coupons or discounts. I don’t have “friend or family” prices. I don’t haggle prices and I don’t compromise the services. I charge my client up-front, I take the full payment before I ever touch a vehicle. I just don’t have a lot of faith in hoping people will be fair. What I do have is a full money back guarantee. That guarantee comes at a price, though. If I have to refund the entire amount, I exclude that client from my list … forever. In the decades I have been detailing, I have refunded exactly 2 jobs … both of those were well over a decade ago. My service is for a full detail of a vehicle. That means cleaning the interior and exterior only. My typical detail takes about 2 hours. ANYTHING more than that is what I consider an additional cost. For example, if the customer asks for a window coating, headlight restoration, long term protection, polishing, upholstery cleaning, etc. … those will all be added to the total charge. If that vehicle is excessively dirty, extra cost. If I have to travel more than 10 miles, extra cost. Professionally speaking, I don’t use boutique detailing products. Chemicals like KC, Adam’s, CG’s, Griots, Klin, Gyeon, CarPro and the like. Things of that nature eat into my bottom line. I do, however, use expensive tools when I deem it necessary like Kranzle or Rupes. I use them because I don’t want the headaches of possible failure while on the job. The most money I make, from just regular detailing in a single day, is $750 … that’s 2 hours each on 5 vehicles. If I do that 5 days a week, I’m netting over $2500 a week. For me, those days are gone. I used to work 5-7 days a week, now I’m down to 4 or 5 days a week with maybe 4 vehicles a day. I’m in my 50’s … I don’t have to work at all … I’ve enough to last me the rest of my life. I continue to work because I enjoy it that much. I will detail until I can’t physically do it. 😊😊😊

Paint gloss is amazing even in direct sun! I was amazed. Not the slickest but it just works.

Wow, I’ll have try this. It’s been on my radar. I was using SPS Graphene detailer but I used in direct sun on hot black paint and it dried and stained the paint unfortunately. Won’t be doing that again.

We have detailers, TH-camrs , Influencers and content creators. The BEST detailers or shop owners have no time to spend on youtube because they're too busy running the business. - If a guy has $2,000 in detail equipment and $20,000 in cameras and lighting well.....

So I've watched like a lot of you out there over 100+ videos on ceramics alone and to be honest 20% of the products are good and the other 80% of the videos are advertisements like this one.
