not really a surface drive. more of a diy 4s Outboard retrofit. Surface drives look and work completely different. still cool tho!

How well does the transom hold up with that setup? It just looks like its a lot of weight and pressure with the way that motor is setup.

Top speed? I know it’s not built for speed but just curious. About to do the same with an old Johnson 25 and motor off my old mower.

Did you try the two blade prop yet? Should improve the vibration and performance, prop won't be as deep in the water.

i made twin teddys 7.5 times two = 20 no but air cooled makes them light enough for 2 a linkage so just 1 tiller

If you use a small rubber mallet you could tap on it and it'll cut the gasket for you

I wana see more crawfishin. Try different baits and traps possibly even build some.. use differnt baits and see what works best and also try differnt areas and see what type area seems most productive. Also some limb lining for catfish on a river somewhere would be great. Much love from another fellow okie. Bout 20 mins west of Tulsa here 👍🏼

Tho I live near gold metal waters in Colorado I have not caught a fish in 10 years up here. Not only that, but no one who has gone with me has either. So now the plan is batteries, small explosives, nets, or ground mullien root.

I think every other week would be great. I would like your thoughts on a mud motor on hp for wider Jon-boats. I have young children or grandchildren in my case that I like to take fishing. I’m thinking about a wider boat to keep the boat more stable in the water. I usually fish in a river.

Those creek chubs are great smoked as well. Used to be able to buy them pre-smoked for cheap in the stores around here but can't even find them any more. I remember them as being the best smoked fish I ever ate, just the right amount of fat in them to make them super flavorful.

The title of your video is how to bolt a Briggs engine to a Mercury lower. You only explainedthe lovejoys. You explained what you are going to do, but you did not show us how the plates bolt together. How does the shifter work? How are the plates bolted together? The shifter mechanism looks complicated. How does the bottom plate mount to the lower unit? Try watching a Chris fixit video sometime. He edits his videos. He sticks to the point. He doesn't tell us what he's going to do. He tells us. The only thing you explain in this video is about how the love joys are the key element.

I've got an old Suzuki 8 HP from the early 90's that isn't locked up but won't run. I've been thinking about trying to make something like this out of it.

I don’t understand what makes it a mud motor. It looks like a standard outboard to me, only air cooled instead of water. It is pretty sweet though. I remember them well, and always wished I had picked one up when they were being offered.

I never liked steering with my left hand. I'm seriously right handed, and my left hand just isn't coordinated enough for it.

yeah those lithium batteries are extremely sensitive. I've been building lithium battery packs for about a year now and trust me when I say its easy to make a mistake. I'm sure a small voltage/current increase in the charge wouldn't hurt it but the concern with lithium is over charging. they don't just stop charging without the help of an external circuit (battery management system) which you can probably find for a 12v (3 cell) that may even adapt to the m12 battery.

How many starts total on 1 battery fully charged can you get?

I have always wondered what the advantage these have. The lower unit is just a regular lower unit so it wouldn't float in higher in the water. I am guessing the main advantage would be lawn mower engines are easy to find. For the same horsepower wouldn't it weigh quite a bit more. Don't get me wrong I am all into anything that can be Frankensteined I wouldn't hesitate to build one myself as long as I thought there was going to be some advantage to doing it this way. Thank you

What about turning the motor 90* on the unit. Cylinders face forward and aft.

This is not a kiss a** by any means ok, but doing stuff like that puts people on very smart genius level, my experience in visiting Asia, south America places I seen this done for different reasons, something is old and broke down what did you do, you don't have any money but need to go fishing so you and family can eat, well people take some parts from here and there and put something together, we in the west have no idea how to well, survive, I wish I could come up with a way to set up my 1200 sportster motor to a direct shaft drive, on johnboat and raise heck on the lak😅😅😅 that be something,,, never stop!!!
