yeah those lithium batteries are extremely sensitive. I've been building lithium battery packs for about a year now and trust me when I say its easy to make a mistake. I'm sure a small voltage/current increase in the charge wouldn't hurt it but the concern with lithium is over charging. they don't just stop charging without the help of an external circuit (battery management system) which you can probably find for a 12v (3 cell) that may even adapt to the m12 battery.

How many starts total on 1 battery fully charged can you get?
not sure quite a few but do not have an exact number havent messed with it enough yet
