It's outside the MIT campus so I haven't included it here. It's a MAHE hostel, so it's allocated to anyone to opts for it regardless of their college in Manipal. So you'll have a lot of people from outside MIT too, KMC especially.

DAC would be a double attached AC room. I don't know what a DC is but I'm guessing it's a double AC room but I'm not aware if that configuration exists.

There aren't any official holidays between the semester. But if there are a lot of consecutive holidays and you have enough attendance, a lot of people go home then.

Attendance is taken till the last working day If you're going home, make sure you have enough attendance and are not missing any tests.

Spot round happens after the intra institute round. It's the last case option but extremely risky. If you apply in the spot year, you lose out on your current seat if you don't get a branch of your choice. I can't really say. Might even be in the month of September. All the rounds happen online. Again, I can't say about the durations. I'm just a student, ask the admissions department about this please. It's recommended to attend the orientation because they'll tell you a lot about what to expect for 4 years of your college life. If you absolutely cannot attend, it's fine but try to. Spot round admits constitute a different class of their own, which is later brought upto speed with the rest of the batch. Yes, they do get hostels. All first years get hostels. Might not be the best one since you're applying really late, but you'll get something.

Whats the configuration allotted? It's not a bad block as such, atleast you get a single room. If it's a SAC, then there's no need of changing. If you'd like some other configuration, you could try for an upgrade.

It is. But if you cannot make it due to an emergency, you can get th3 formalities done later. That'll be a bit of a hassle because you'll have to go to different departments across a couple of weeks, as everything is specifically set up together for incoming students.

I don't think it's allowed anymore. Recently they've gotten super strict. Even people staying in hostels cannot visit other hostels. You could try though, if they let you in that'd be nice.

There aren't a lot of hostels available for senior students. It's not a compulsion, but since they're aren't prioritized, you might not end up getting a room of your choice. This is a possibility in your 4th year, not before that tho.

They won't change in your year anymore. It's fixed for 4 years. In first year, mine was 3.5 but that could be due to covid. For later years, it's 4.85 per academic year. The library is open until 10:30pm. It opens up around 8 in the morning I think. The budget part is dependent on your spending habits. I'd say 2-3k is bare minimum. 5k is comfortable. 10 is extravagant. But this is assuming you eat at the mess. Otherwise your spendings will be higher.

I've never heard of anything like that. MIT to MUJ I've heard of, but not the reverse.

There are multiple washrooms which are shared by everyone living on the same floor, just like how you see in movies.

They'll open up the portal later too for people who've taken their admission later. All the rooms are available phase wise to prevent all the good rooms being booked completely. The payment is done at the start of the year, the full yearly amount needs to be paid at once. The deduction happens month-wise, which you don't need to worry about unless you're running out of funds in case of hostel switches. You get to choose the mess after you arrive on campus. Also, you can switch them once a month if you don't like it. FC2 is good but it's really far from 5 and 6 so I won't recommend it. FC1 is closer, Aditya too. I'm making a video on that, hopefully it's out in time!

@@saranyaghosh2003 faster response than wifi speeds in manipal xd. yeah i just saw your latest video and got to know about Aditya mess. between fc1 and aditya mess which i guess has food from fc2. so rather between fc1 and 2 which one gives better options in their menu. and if i choose non veg will i still be able to take paneer and all instead. also one academic question, theres this conduct certificate required which my school hasnt provided. instead when i passed out they gave me one school certificate and it mentions good conduct at the bottom. would this work? and... wait for it..... thanks

@@random.randint Oh yeah it's-wait for it- no problem I'd say fc2 because that's the one I'm the most familiar with, plus it occasionally keeps giving out goodies As for taking both chicken and paneer, be nice to the workers and go late towards the end. Oh yeah, that certificate works. That is what I submitted too.

@@random.randint yepp But also, consider taking FC1 in the even semester when it's really hot. 5 and 6 don't have ACs so you'll be boiling otherwise.

It's 10pm for campus gates and 10:30 for hostels for first years iirc Yes the curfew is very strict. One minute out of time can cost you a fine and a phone call home. You'll need permission from your block warden if you're staying out of the hostel overnight, your parents need to draft that mail and then call the warden, who's going to tell the caretakers that they approve of the stay. If not, well then bad luck :(

What branch are you interested in? That should be a question you ask yourself, among others like your future goals, career expectations etc

@@saranyaghosh2003 well,I really want to work in the electronics sector (semiconductors, robotics,digital electronics,vlsi,etc-in any one which I will decide later)..but unfortunately,due to my rank I could only get electronics and instrumentation and not ece or vlsi(and I've only applied to the main campus)

@@Aarav1334 how different is EIE from ECE. I don't know much about the electronics field so I don't think I'll be able to help you much. You should speak to students in those branches from each college and ask questions that concern you.

Since it's a new branch, I cannot say for sure. I'm guessing yes, because all students from all the branches are always eligible but you'll have to ask the admissions council for confirmation.

Yepp, it's generally a week before term starts to people start living from then. It doesn't make sense to go back and come again after 4 days because that'll be just plain expensive.

Not really. There's only one rule, you can't wear shorts in the academic area, full pants only for that.

There's a common cutoff for everyone, regardless of your branch. You just need to cross that.

Any of the FC2 messes is good enough. FC2 is very far from block 11, won't even recommend. Fc1 will be on the way to classes so it's a fair option.

I don't think you can upgrade it online. Try doing that, but afaik you'll have to go to the chief warden's office and then change it. The rooms always open up in phases so it's not like that's the last day. There will always be rooms available and more rooms being allotted.

The closest would be Apoorva but I don't think it has a lot of first years. I'd recommend Aditya or FC1, they're about the same.

If she's interested in it, it's a good option. Not if she's actually interested in something else and picking this only because it's what she's getting.

You can book it on the portal, they'll mail you when the bookings open which I think they have already. The mess charges about 200 per day, the fees is taken in the form of a mess advance which is 50k. That's enough to cover the entire year. I'd recommend having an AC because it's very humid during the odd semesters and pretty hot during the even semesters but a lot of people make do without it too.

Close to 200 per day for FC2 messes, I don't know the exact cost for other ones but they're about the same too.

I personally chose the AC rooms but you can survive without the AC too if you're looking to save money. Lots of sport events are held. Among facilities, there's everything on campus. There's also Marena, which is the sport complex a quick walk from the campus.

Not really, nothing is hard to pass in if you actually study

I can't really say how the exact curriculum is going to be because it's a new branch but nothing is going to be difficult to pass in. Getting good grades? Sure. But nothing you can't pass in.

I'd say keep waiting, don't let go of your seat just yet because JEE counselling and all the other state CETs rounds are still going on. They may change or they may not, but if you've already reserved a seat you're in a better position. Even if there's no chances of upgrades, you can withdraw later till late October without losing any amount on the tuition fees. Yes, you're eligible for other scholarships based on your CGPA. But letting go of the AICTE scholarship is a huge decision because it's a tremendous amount, no other scholarship offers as much of financial aid as this one. The other ones are harder to get too, you'll need close to a 9.5 to be eligible.

I don't really know anything about Thapar. But if you're sole point of comparison is going to be IT vs CSE then here's something to keep in mind. IT and CSE in Manipal are pretty much the same, there's very little difference both in terms of coursework and placements. I'll of course have a bias and say that Manipal is better but you should look into all the factors and speak to people from both colleges.

You'll have C in your first year. DSA was taught to us in C++ but for yall it might be in C only. Learning it on your own is way faster so that you can start Leetcoding.

What is leetcoding? Never heard of it till now. Also , is it worth starting coding as early as possible? Can I trust freecodecamp as a platform to learn any programming language / web development from?

Leetcode is a platform where you can practice coding problems, which are asked in SDE interviews. Freecodecamp is one of the biggest, most reliable sources to learn to code. There are tons of other channels and resources as well, this was just a suggestion. Feel free go explore and get to know all the other channels as well and find out what suits you the best.
