Hola me sabrías decir cómo se mete El Hierro del centro ? Se me ha salido y no sé ponerlo ,graciasss
Sorry, I could not translate El Hierro, can you explain a different way?
Is it worth for about 500 to 600 usd?
For good cosmetic condition, working but unrestored that sounds about right.
hello, who are you, what's the url of your shop, I haven't found anything on the net?
I work mainly from referrals and people who reach out from this channel. You are welcome to contact me at Round2Audio@gmail.com
Hi, my left meter on my 707 is dead as well as the light. All output from the left channel works as it should. Any ideas what to look for to diagnose? I’m sure it not a straight forward answer….
The first step is to check that it is getting a signal, so loose wire, connector or solder joint.
I just got one... like you said, it works but still needs a bit of love.
Congrats! These are nice machines and great for 7"
Today I repaired my 39 years old SL-J2 turntable. After more than 25 years not being used, I took it apart and found that one of the belt drive 1:29 was worn out. I replaced it and together with my 2hand bought Yamaha RX385 receiver/amp I am listening to my David Bowie records again...
Great to hear, enjoy!
thanks! Much to my surprise the repair was quite easy. Once I located the problem I dived into the spareparts box and found a suitable rubber o-ring which fitted nicely.
I'm getting an Sl-ql15. What sort of greese do you use.
Superlube Synthetic Grease
Very informative video. It's a nice turntable but that delay before playing the programmed tracks is annoying for me. The SL-6 does the same things and is much faster playing the tracks while being just as accurate.
I am not sure if I cover it in the video, Technics built the delay in on purpose to increase accuracy. The needle lands a bit too early, but keeps the sound muted until the track is about to start.
If George Lucas made a turntable for star wars..
I have always thought this. Of course there is the spaceship motor housing, but the piece that also looks very star wars to me in the turret on the tonearm.
Having used an open reel deck (Teac X-3) for many years I am flummoxed as to why Pioneer had the output controls on the back of this deck? Though not used frequently, output controls are necessary to adjust from time to time. Having to get at the back for this adjustment seems illogical? Such a fine machine with good specs deserved better. What were they thinking?
I believe what they were thinking is that you would use the back controls to match the output to your other components, then just use the master volume on your receiver or preamp. But I agree it would have been more convenient to have them on the front!
I've had one of those with dbx, it's more glitter than anything else, it's okay, but I'd take a 6XX series Akai over that anyday!😳
It's handsome for sure, but can't agree with the glitter comment. The servo controlled tape transport provides real benefits for me.
I have one of these in silver with an Ortofon mc30 moving coil which uses a step-up transformer. I haven't used it since the 80s (boxed up in the attic). I need to get a good set of speakers and a good amp. (previously I had B&W 801 speakers and Pioneer spec 1 and 2 power and pre-amp.) You have given me the push I needed to get it back in action again. No doubt it will have issues being in the attic for so long. Good informative video.
I'm looking for one of these, can you sell it ?
Thanks and good luck with the deck!
Feel free to reach out to me directly at round2audio@gmail.com. Thanks for watching.
Very beautiful! It's piece of art. I'm looking for an X 50 right now because i like the Tonarm but you can't make comparison with X50 and X75. In case Sony has Bild great tables
Thanks! Yes, the generation before the Biotracers was also great, PS-X50, X60 and X70. Good luck is your quest.
@@Round2Audio thank you. My X50 is already running :) luck was in my side :)
Excuse me, why install the cheapest cartridge on a decent enough record player, namely the Chinese replica AT-91, aka AT-3600?
Because it is the most inexpensive nice sounding cartridge I am aware of, and when I offer these for sale I don't want to boost the price with a cartridge that may get swapped!
@@Round2AudioThere are inexpensive so-called vintage pickups, for example the same DENON DL-60 / 65, which is suitable in concept for this device and will not significantly increase the price. It will also save the potential client from purchasing a new pickup, installing it, etc. Well, of course it’s up to you. Personally, I always try to install a decent cartridge, and not a cheap Chinese one.
I used to have one and god I loved the tech. Unfortunately lost it by some assholes taking it during a break and enter many years ago. I miss it a lot but glad to see some still operating.
That's a real bummer. A thief these days wouldn't know what it is! Luckily there are still some out there and with love and attention can be excellent performing machines.
Do yourself a favor and play this on 1.5X speed. You're welcome.
What method did you use to polish the transparent lid?
I remove the lid and tape off the black portion, then polish it just as I would any other dust cover. Wet sand up to 2000 grit, then Novus 3 and 2. I made a fixture that can support any size dust cover safely, and that is a huge help. Thanks for your interest!
I've had a couple of those years ago. They look impressive, but I like having more control over the outcome of my recordings, and those decks don't give you much. If you're going to have one, DON'T get the fluroscàn meters, they're a NIGHTMARE to get repaired and expensive. Gave up on big Naks and settled for an LX3 with a hotrodded power supply, I'm 😎 👍!
I love all the Naks with the classic transport, LX-3 included. Wonderful decks. Enjoy.
@Round2Audio True, but if you've had enough of them, you KNOW that ALL Naks AREN'T created EQUAL! I have a Technics deck that I've had since 2010, that'll EASILY give Naks a run for their 💰, it's ANCIENT, but it wasn't CHEAP in it's day!
A dream machine i just wish i had.
Wonderful decks. Thanks for watching!
Nice narrative. Thank you. I am beginning resto of an X-1000rBL. Hope no major hurdles! These are super sweet decks! Gorgeous!
It is challenging but rewarding. Good luck!
this will beat most modern popular turntables costing several hundred pounds out of the park hands down - get real record buyers, they dont make them like this anymore without costing many thousands!
I agree.
I just picked one of these up on FB marketplace for $100. It sounds great but I need help adjusting the speed.
Oh and thanks for a great tutorial on this TT.
Great find! Speed control problems are most often the potentiometers under the front panel. Clean these well internally with Deoxit Faderlube.
Been watching all of your videos on the Technics linear trackers. Such an interesting piece of technology! Thank you for sharing them with us.
The Technics linear trackers are some of my favorites. I now also have the Technics SL-M3, which uses a similar mechanism in deck form. It's one of the best perfoming decks I have ever tested. Thanks and enjoy!
Considering new tape prices, a 7"-er 4-tracks 7 1/2 autoreverser is a desk we need (I personally prefer such configuration). Because in most cases it's better (and rewardable) to use a new tape rather than to have 15ips or 10". Then we can have 4.5 classical duration albums for 40 euros. I think this is really good price for the best analog format
hello, this Sony is very interesting and it is nice. I hav a Denon DP 47F and mine can almost do the same thing that yours can do and I love it.👍👍
The Sony PS-B80 is the first deck to offer the technology of electronic damping (1978), and I believe the DP-47F may be the last. It was still offered by Denon in 1999 and perhaps even later. Enjoy and thanks for the comment.
Such a beautiful deck. I restored one a few years back. A sweet machine.
Thank you for your help. I was able to find the left RCA plug was bad. I bought two new RCA plugs and soldered both connections in place and the Beogram works perfectly. Connecting to my integrated Integra amp via PHONO works fine in my home theater system, but it sounds better/louder/more "present" in a different setup with a Denon HEOS preamp/CD/streaming device connected to Audioengine 5+ speakers. An inexpensive Pyle preamp between the Beogram and the home theater amp via AUX was terrible. Should I expect another preamp like a Bellari VP549 would be better?
Does anyone know anyone who works on these? My RX2 needs tuning up and new RCA cables and connectors.
Feel free to reach out to me at Round2Audio@gmail.com
I've got a B&O TX bought new and I'd like to start using again but it's been in a closet for maybe 20+ years you said you referbished yours, where and HOW did you find parts mainly the belts? Any advice would be appreciated. I've got 2 cartridges MM2 and MM3, the MM2 is ruined the stylus sitting cockeyed so if I do get it refurbished I'll more than likely by a new cartridge for it.
For one or two belts I often go to turntableneedles.com, the belts have been good quality and fresh stock. They have a part number lookup that usually works if you find it challenging searching by deck. You can get the original part number from the service manual. Look up "soundsmith B&O" for cartridges. Most of the work for restoring a turntable is cleaning and relubricating mechanical parts, replacing failed components such as capacitors (available on Mouser), cleaning switches, calibration, etc. It is best to start with a deck that is complete without broken parts. If there are custom parts that are broken or missing you have to hope and wait for someone to part out a deck on eBay. Good luck and keep us posted!
One more point... A very helpful site for B&O specific restoration information is beolover.blogspot.com
Yes I have the same, my one is serial Nr 000010 so the 10th ever built also replaced any single OP amp, any single electrolytic cap and recalibrated the servo adjustments...works now excellent reliable- best calibrated to XL45 and XL55 Sony cart: th-cam.com/video/GlSpWklT0-w/w-d-xo.html
HELP!!! Does anyone have contact information for Round2Audio (I was able to get in touch with “Round Two Vintage Audio” but that’s a different repair shop).
Please reach out at Round2Audio@gmail.com
Since buying one of these I have given up my Garrard 401 and Decca Professional arm.
The Sony's with the Biotracer technology are at the peak of turntable development for sure. The pinnacle was the PS-X800 which added linear tracking.
Dunno why they didn't make it DD... A thing of beauty though!
Direct drive would have been great. I believe the Beogram 8000 and 8002 were direct drive.
I bought one of these when they first came out, and I still have it. Still works great!
Great decks and fun to use.
WOW!
Thanks, they really are great.
I changed rca cables on an RX2 because the left was intermittent. Now I get no sound at all. Could I have muted it somehow?
You can check continuity with an ohm meter from the center pin of and RCA to the outer ring. If it is open (infinite ohms) or shorted (close to zero ohms) you will get no sound. When muted the continuity will be shorted, so you need to check when the tonearm is at rest and at play. In play your should see a reading of a few hundred ohms. I dont recall excactly, but for most cartridges it runs from a couple hundred to around 700 ohms. It also could be that the cables were shorted where you soldered them to the board. Check continuity and if necessary remove the cables and check continuity at the deck. Good luck and let us know your progress1
Beauty 😍
Yes, they can be stunning. Thanks!
Great video. Regarding the polishing, you definitely need to mask off the paint as the whole lid itself is made from clear acrylic, with some parts painted silver. The “printed portions” don’t need to be masked as they are screen printed underneath the surface. The small chips to the paint can be touched up with some tamiya aluminium paint. It’s not a perfect match but it’s invisible at a foot. 👍🏴
Yes, the printing is often on the bottom, but on many of the Technics clamshell units the printing is on the top! Such as this SL-J3, also the J1, J2 and Q versions such as the SL-Q6. So the printing needs to be masked off as well. Later I'll remove the mask and hand polish to blend these areas.
Can you advise if there is a tonearm lock? i press start and nothing happens
Hi Anthony, There is no lock, your problem is the belt or sticky grease on the arm, most likely both. Get in the top and clean and replace the grease very thoroughly and replace the belt. If it still doesn't work check back, there is the reset switch and I usually replace that as well. Good luck!
thanks, everything started to work fine I think the dial moving the tone arm needed an adjustment.
Hi thanks for the video. I just found a PL-630 and it's missing the PEB-102 rubber boots for the suspension. Do you have a suggestion as to a replacement? Thanks
Yes, a fellow named Anthony has been making and selling these on eBay for a couple years. I'm not sure of his userID. He takes a break now and then so check over there from time to time. To get yourself a playable machine right now, my suggestion is to completely remove the rotted boots, then cut a 1" square by 2" or so strip of foam padding and smush it inside each foot spring. This will give you the needed damping so your deck will be stable and play well. But do get the boots in there when you can. Good luck! Bill
Is it for sale?
This one was sold a while ago. I usually keep a coupleTEAC X-1000s on hand but only. have the Pioneer occasionally. Thanks for watching!
Hello, it's for sale?
Hi, This deck was sold a while ago, I occasionally find and restore these but more often the Sony Biotracers.
Junk if you care anything about sound
This one sounded great after I restored it. Also, you really need to get yourself a Soundsmith cartridge as the vintage B&O carts are very old at this point and many have failed or are failing. A few still sound good, but are high risk to purchase now.
I've got the same deck and its a keeper 👍
One of my favorite Naks, I found another and hope to get it restored soon. Thanks for the comment.
I have a Micro TM22 which i think is a step down from this one. Someone gave it to my younger brother in the late 80s. It was in our attic and I almist threw it out thinking it was a Tandy from Radio Shack. My Fischer died so I hooked it up. Been using it since 94.
Most Micro Seiki products are excellent or at least very good, with some being the among the best TT ever made. I am glad you didn't throw it out and are enjoying it. Thanks for the comment.
@@Round2AudioI forgot to ask- Do you have any recommendations for the cartridge and needle? Currently I have a stanton DJRS500 (i believe). It is white wit h a small red patch on it. I recently ordered a new on but the needle looks smaller, it has a blue patch, and it is sensative to walking near the turntable. Thanks!
Stupid question but does anybody know what the original cartridge that would've came with back in the day? Think I narrowed it down to either a PC-110, PC1000 or a PC-135 but I'm not really sure. I just know those are the three phono-cartridges available in the catalog from around that era. It could've came with something completely different for all I know. (I don't care if there's "better cartridges" available now. I wish to experience mine stock.)
I've accumulated quite a pile of the PC-600A, all with broken stylus or failed suspension, all from the PL-630, so I assume that was the most common original cartridge for this unit. I recall that there is a replacement stylus available, but I haven't tried it myself. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.
I was deciding on SL-7 or SL-10 and ruled against SL-10 because of the cost of replacing the MC Cartridge and there were more T4P coming online in the market. It costed me at least half, although I think it maybe more like 2/3 of my summer vacation job. It was the most expensive toy I have ever purchased. Even though the tonearm no longer works I still have it in my basement and it still worth every dime I spend. I am running a SL-5 and SL-J11D and they are solid performing decks but I won’t put them on top of the spkrs and still expect falseness operation like the SL-7 did!
The SL-7 is an excellent deck and with some attention can give excellent performance to this day. Yes, you have noticed they are more solid that the later versions with excellent isolation. Thanks for watching.
GREAT
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
❤❤❤
I love them too!
