You are far to young to appreciate the magnifying glass, But when you pass sixty it will be invaluable for reading that small print that gets increasingly smaller as you grow older. I can guarantee that older eyes need help.

I have a Swiss Champ which has the 91mm Plus Scales [w/ Pen and Straight Pin]. Also there is a secret channel on the lower end of the scale [ w/o the Swiss Cross on it] that -- when opened up -- you can put a shorter Teeezers, so you can put the Firefly 2'' long ferrocerium stick in the old Tweezer slot. The Firefly stick has a weakness -- it must be supported from the back when striking or it will snap in half. Have not tried the Fire Ant.

I carry an 84mm Recruit. I am likely going to get a Bantam for a survival tin. They are cheaper knives on Amazon. I do like the Recruit for edc.

Yes, the Sportsman is a great SAK and one of my favorites in my collection. The nail file is a very useful and non threatening tool that I find my self using quite often for nail maintenance while I’m just sitting around killing time. And yes, I agree adding the scissors would have made this a perfect EDC SAK. The Alumnus! Too bad all the 84mm scissors are discontinued. If they them back, that would be cause for great celebration because I do like the 84mm versions. I find that the Combo tool more useful than the other two openers. I wish there was a version of the Sportsman that had the backside Phillips instead of the corkscrew.

The Camper is the same as the Hiker. Only difference is with the Hiker you get a Phillips head screw driver and with the the Camper you get the cork screw.

Fluff the tinder much more, it needs more are/volume. And while it seems natural to hold the rod still and scrape the steel against it, you should do the opposite. Hold the steel still and quickly/sharply draw the rod back against it, it will throw sparks better.

I cannot understand why Victorinox stopped putting those "Camping" logos on the camper.

Prefer the Sportsman; scale tools and back tools make it so much more versatile, while still maintaining a thin profile

It's the inner end of the combo tool that can be used as a phillips driver NOT the outer end because if you do that the tool will close shut!

It is a great disappointment that Israel’s leaders, politicians are fearful of its citizenry. And armed citizens are safe & protected citizenry. One just needs to look at Kibbutz Beri, Nir Aza, Kfar Aza to see what happens when government tyranny takes away one’s right to self defense One can’t remove evil with laws. It’s a G-d given right to be armed & dangerous. As long as Israel is a country that does not trust its citizens, there is no reason to immigrate to Israel. I’ve carried a pocket knife my entire life. Never used it for self defence. As a young man growing up in Israel I also carried. But today’s Israel with all the technology is immensely more dangerous for Jews. You don’t protect an antelope from a lion by removing its horns. You just make it open sitting duck season for the predator.

I'd NEVER buy a SAK without the cap & can tools. They're such fundamental tools. Saving one layer of space to skip them is a false economy.

Just stop imagining letters that aren't there and you will get the pronunciation right.

The magnifying glass is handy if you have to read the numbers on an IC/computer chip. I use my Explorer a lot. And I usually pair it with a Leatherman Sidekick for the pliers/wire cutters, saw, and serrated blade.

Btw the Wenger scissor cut better, their “spring” keeps the scissor blades tight and together, the Victorianox scissor bladed can come apart somewhat depending on what you’re cutting.

Here in the UK only about half of the food cans have ring pulls. I use the wire stripper for my Firefly fire steel

I use the magnifying glass since I do not want to carry my reading glasses. Reading glasses are fragile.

That Kosibate pouch is very useful, I have 4 of them, I put small EDC tools in them and I like quick access to my tools so I don't put them in my pocket, I just clip all 4 of them horizontally on top over my belt (with belt inside the pouch) and you can hardly notice they are there! After using these Kosibate I ditched other pouches.

I hang my keys off my belt or pocket with a gerber mullet every day and it works just fine and hasn’t poked a hole in any of my clothes so I would recommend it 👍🙏🏻

I just got the camper as I never had a use for the scissors.

I just realized sportsman is a good emergency/survival knife. If you put ferro rod instead of micro screw driver on the cork screw, you can strike it with the nail file if you need to

The hook is also good for sewing with larger cordage after you've reamed out the holes with the reamer.

I have used the wire stripper notch but you have to use it to hold the wire, rest the large blade on the wire and push gently until it just cuts the insulation, the spin the wire. Then, with a circle cut around the wire just right, you can pull the insulation off the wire with the "stripper." Also helps with making some bends in solid wire.

I have the Camper but only carry it occasionally for more extended activities. The Walker is my EDC and I love it. Disappointing that it was discontinued.

I have a 2023 Evowood 14 and love it. The can opener and awl are now the Victorinox components. The only Wenger tools are the scissors, cap lifter, and nail file. It's a great knife, and immensely comfortable in the hand with its contoured scales.

Take out the phone stand and put in a fresnel lens it can be used as a fire starter or a magnifier much better use of space

The sportsman is my general edc knife! The cost is good especially on Amazon and the nail file sets it above all other two layer models? The can opener also is a great fruit skin peeler ! It has been said that Victorinox are discontinuing all the 84mm models? The tourist has already gone so i guess the sportsman wont be far behind?
