    Great video! Putting thought into these 5 things first can definitely help one avoid buyer’s remorse and choose what will work best for one’s needs. Thank you for the thoughtful content 👍

    It doesn't seem to get a lot of love from flashlight geeks, but I've been carrying a Streamlight Pocket Mate on my keys for quite a while now and love it. The thing I like is if I give it to someone it doesn't need an instruction manual to use. Just push the button. And for me, you reach a point with brightness where more isn't helpful. If I'm sorting cable behind a computer or whatever, the "splash back" from a super bright light is more dazzling than helpful. So anyway, small enough to be unnoticeable when not needed, easy to use, and bright enough when it it is. That's how I picked it.

    Great to see some new content from you. This is a great video and addresses several issues I have personally encountered over the years. I had Fenix and 4 sevens lights that were not intuitive at all to use. I had an original Olight warrior that came in a foam padded plastic case like a pistol. It was a beast, but way too heavy for EDC and it tended to get very hot. Nowadays I still love the tech bells and whistles but I love simplicity and ease of use also. I still have and old 4D cell maglite by my back door to remind me how far we have come. My keychain light outperforms that old maglite by 100 percent. Sometimes though I find that less is more when it comes to power and lumens. I find myself using the low power settings at least as often as the higher lumen outputs. Shalom and well wishes!

      Now I'm curious about your Keychain flashlight 😃
      I'm pretty happy with the Rovyvon Aurora A1 that's currently on my keys, but always on the lookout for other interesting options 😊

    About SR Baton: reverse the clip and put it on the cap, the light will be well behind the cap with awesome comfort against self-blinding.

    • @Practical_EDC
      @Practical_EDC  ปีที่แล้ว

      You know, I used to reverse the clip just to get the flashlight to ride lower in my pocket 😅

    Throwing out a recommendation for the Acebeam Pokelit series. Great lights that easily compare to the Olight I5rs, but better price and even higher lumen count. The 1k lumen light goes on sale for $20 every couple months, and uses the same battery as the 550L version

    The clip on the baton II is designed that way incase you want to carry it bezel down in your pocket

    I forgot to add, that as far as power/battery life, if you carry a light on your keychain like me, rechargeable is the way due to size. After that, I think battery power is a little handier since you can just change batteries.

    • @Practical_EDC
      @Practical_EDC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When it comes to Keychain flashlights - I agree with you. Rechargeable is the way to go.
      But for my pocket flashlight - I'm still going back and forth between rechargeable and battery powered, there are advantages to both, mainly depending on the kinda day I'm preparing for 😊

    Hey hello my friend I just wanted to say that you can use your sr2 baton as a keychain flashlight! I own the upgraded version which is great but anyway I turned that flashlight into a keychain flashlight! Because it is too small for anything else... it will work for both flashlights if you are interested let me know and I will send you the link to the item you need to turn it into a keychain light! God bless

    Great video flash lights annoy me lol
    I have a couple basic ones which i like but one is to long and gets in my way and the other turns on to easy 😂
    I need to find a happy medium between the two. Admittedly i think the most i spent was $15 on one of them
    Cheers 🍻

      Maybe take a look at the Streamlight Microstream, I think you'll find it very appealing. I have one in my go-bag for about three years now, it really is a wonderful little flashlight.

  • @michaelnasser8697
    @michaelnasser8697 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Outstanding and well thought out video that needed to be done due to the myriad of flashlights on the market today.
    I think, at least in my experience, that 99% of people would be fine with a basic, easy to use small flashlight of reasonable lumens, say around 200 or so.
    I never really carried a flashlight on me for a number of years due to their size, but would keep one in my bag, car, etc. I did end up getting 2 different Olight keychain lights and they have worked extremely well for my needs. I even got out adult kids and wife one since they are so handy and useful.
    After saying that, I tailor my flashlight, like my EDC, with whatever I’m doing. If I’m camping, I’ll carry a bigger flashlight with a longer battery life and maybe just a little more lumens, but not something that would burn out someone’s corneas 😂.
    Finally, I like the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid 😂

      I completely agree with you on the usefulness of a flashlight and the next video I upload is my wife's Keychain setup - which includes a special kind of flashlight, you'll see what I mean when we're done shooting 😉

    Is the Olight Baton 2 out of warranty. Sounds like it not staying on turbo should be covered.

    • @Practical_EDC
      @Practical_EDC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will check with Olight about the warranty, and of course update you guys in a follow up video - but in all honesty even when it was brand new I never really needed the turbo mode at all, 600 lumens is extremely bright for most situations and I usually run the flashlight on medium to avoid momentarily blinding myself or others 😅

    • @jonathancaldentey4615
      @jonathancaldentey4615 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know you said the battery is fully charged, but do you think the battery is not holding its original charge as much? Might be older and not able to give the LED the burst of amps it needs to sustain the Turbo. Thanks for the vid!

    • @pixel2695
      @pixel2695 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking the same thing. The battery on the olight baton might be old and not holding its original charge. Although their batteries are proprietary, they are still replaceable so you should be able to replace the battery and it would work like new.

      I actually have a new flashlight in mind, planing on upgrading my s1r Baton 2 to the Thrunite T1 🤘
