    Wow, I didn't know you couldn't carry a locking knife in Israel. I carry a Civivi Elementum but I am a Medic, so I have to imagine that it's a good enough reason lol

    I live in Eastern NC and i can carry whatever as long as it folds. That said i ALWAYS since i was about 10 (im 61now) carry a SAK Spartan or a Tinker but carry it in combo with a Spyderco delica or Native 5 . I just cant understand why government do these insane knife laws. 🦉

    total craziness; the law should be that each citizen HAS to carry a large knife and a gun! Its like the people making the laws live in a fantasy world.

    Chag Atzmaut Sameach Raz. I have never heard or read that lock blade knives are illegal to carry here in Israel & KWS has been selling large locking blade 111mm, 130mm & 136mm Victorinox knives for over 50 years as do sports, hobby, cutlery, gift & military surplus shops which sell all types of locking knives, flick knives, axes, batons, kung fu stars, daggers & swords and I have carried large locking blade knives here in Israel since I was an IDF conscript in 1970 and in particular I had a 4 inch blade Spanish made clone of the Buck 110 folding hunter for around 25+ years till I gifted it to a friend in my IDF reserve unit upon leaving active reserve service at age 46. I have bought on Amazon, eBay , Fruggo & directly from foreign websites all sorts of locking flipper knives & assisted opening lock blade knives, all of these passed through Customs (without any import fees) as they are not on any restricted weapons list . When I go out I always have a large locking knife in my pocket (in addition to a smaller SAK) and the only time here in Israel where I had to pass through a police screening involving emptying the contents of my pockets was at the Western Wall about 5 years ago & I had a 111mm Victorinox slide lock Picnicker in my pocket & a 58mm Midnite Manager on my key ring. Nothing was said to me and I was allowed to proceed to the Wall to pray ( as were several men carrying licensed pistols ) with the knives in my pocket. Lets face it Arab terrorists are using large kitchen knives & meat cleavers & not pocket knives to carry out terror attacks.

      @Practical_EDC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Steve, great seeing you here again buddy ❤️
      Locking knives are perfectly legal to sell & buy & own here in Israel, but are 100% illegal to carry on your person without reasonable justification.
      It doesn't necessarily mean that someone will automatically get in trouble if caught - but if a police officer decided to take that someone to court, a judge can put that someone away for up to five years with no proof of crime and no history of violence.
      These knife laws are ignorant and wrong, I agree, but that's the reality here whether we like it or not.

    Great video, what about something like a Gerber prybrid? It doesn't fold out but it manually pushes out utility blade

    • @Practical_EDC
      @Practical_EDC  ปีที่แล้ว

      So when it comes to utility knives there's less of chance you'll get in trouble if you're pulled over by a police officer, as long as they're not the flip-out kind such as the Milwaukee fastback or the Gerber EAB.
      But personally, I don't like the Gerber Prybrid, neither of the two versions. The "prying" side is less than ideal and the blade side is not as good as many other utility knives in that category.

    The Civivi baby banter is a really good knife! It is a bit harder to do the reverse flick on this because the thumb stud on that side is lower so there's not as much room for your finger.
    Easier if there is a thumb hole like with most spyderco knives.

    • @Practical_EDC
      @Practical_EDC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not any that I know of, unfortunately 🙏
      Honestly, I don't see these laws change in the foreseeable future, the vast majority of Israeli citizens couldn't care less about carrying a knife in their pocket, I was one of those people until I accidentally started watching EDC videos a couple of years ago.
      The "knife culture" here in Israel is practically nonexistent. In the eyes of the general public knives are considered weapons, not tools.

      @@Practical_EDC hehe thanks a lot :D it bears less problems with authorities than for example the Forester or Hunter. I'm considering to get the Cybertool as a proper comensatory tool due to its bit drivers tho. What do you think?

    • @Practical_EDC
      @Practical_EDC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Cybertool is one of my favorites - depending on the specific model you get (I personally need both the scissors and the pliers) ❤️
      But they're all wonderful if you often find yourself dealing with small electronics or doing a lot of maintenance on your knives - however, keep in mind you're limited to the bits that comes with the tool, so make sure those are actually the ones you need before purchasing (the Cybertool ain't cheap 😉)

    You knife laws sound almost as confusing as ours in Canada. One of our problems is we have federal laws (Canada), provincial laws (ex Alberta), and city laws (calgary)
    And of course they contradict eachother. 🙄
    Then add to the confusion like yours its up to the police officer to nake a judgment call if you intend the knife as a tool (legal) or a weapon self-defense or not (illegal).
    And it just gets worse the more you read 😑
    I carry mostly concealed (legal in city) but try and leave a tiny bit of the knife showing. So if the federal and provincial laws come into play im still sort of legal 🤔🤷‍♂️
    To avoid the mass confusion about folders and since i prefer them anyways i carry fixed blade.
    Ive started to carry a biltong recently. I love the knife although i altered the grind on it a bit. To be a little more food prep friendly.
    Not much beats the horn handle!! I can not stand the newer materials that they use for handles. I prefer leather, horn, bone even wood. Natural materials basically.
    Anyways thank you for the great video i am very curious about knife laws and all around other cultures.
    Ive been carrying around some of those type plyers everyone is raving about. To see if i could move away from a multi-tool and towards a swiss tool.
    So far i xant do it lol between my sog powerpint and my gerber suspension, i ust cant give them up.
    Cheers 🍻

      I remember you told me about your love for fixed blades in one of my previous videos, I'm happy for you that their allowed by law over there ❤️
      Here in Israel it's a hard NO for fixed blades - except for very specific scenarios, and even then, you kinda have to hope that the police officer knows the law to the letter. Otherwise you'll probably get in trouble just the same.
