That Kosibate pouch is very useful, I have 4 of them, I put small EDC tools in them and I like quick access to my tools so I don't put them in my pocket, I just clip all 4 of them horizontally on top over my belt (with belt inside the pouch) and you can hardly notice they are there! After using these Kosibate I ditched other pouches.

  • @PowerMadHeadBanger

I have something similar but smaller that I use when I'm in a hurry to leave the house but normally I prefer my EDC clipped to the pockets for faster access. I wasn't aware that the file on the Leatherman Squirt also works as a metal saw. Now it's even more compelling. Overall very nice kits and very nice english pronunciation too.

      Thanks buddy! ❤️
I'm honestly on the fence about carrying these kits instead of just clipping everything in different pockets like I'm used to, but I gotta admit, there's a certain convince to grabbing a small pouch and heading out the door, knowing I have everything I need for the day.

I love the idea of micro EDC kit and trying to create one myself!
I'd say that in your kits u've some duplicate items that u don't wanna have in such small sized kit (as for double knife, double multitool, double tweezers, double flashlights)
this also applies to not really frequently used items or items, that could be easily replaced as bottles openers and phone stands
I'd add some pills, patches, 1 piece of gum, powerbank maybe if there would be space for it
Anyways good and interesting video, keep it up!

    Chisel ground is the adjective:

Merry Christmas!!! From a Canadian fan. 😉
    Great video!!
Just an update about the S carabiner for keys. I love them!! They are so convenient.
I've never used the mini gerber or leatherman. But I have the SOG powerpint.
I dont really know how it compares but I think it is a little heavier built. At least the pliers seem to be. It has 2 different blades one regular and one seriated, all tools are locking. (There's a trick to the lock to close faster) and it has a belt clip and a key chain loop.
The scissors i think are great!! I'm able to cut zip ties and even paracord.
It also can use regular screw driver bits. So if you are like me and need torx bits, it works perfectly.
From my understanding you don't want the blacked out version though. Apparently the blades and scissors are not as sharpe.
The pouch you have looks interesting. I am not a fan of things in my pockets. I dont mind a knife or small multi-tool clipped in but even that can annoy me. I truly prefer clipped on my waist band or belt.
    Have a great day
    Cheers 🍻

I want to like pouches, I just can't stand the annoying bulge. I'm stuck clipping/dangling stuff into all the corners of my pockets, slipping things into my 5th/watch pocket, and my back pockets. It just feels and looks so much better I don't even feel like I'm carrying anything despite having quite a lot of stuff on me.

    • @briansmelstor9907

Sounds like you need a simple belt holster to hold a flashlight/knife/pen, i am in the same boat, loaded a pouch, which is great but quickly realized it was going to live on my desk, and i need a belt holster, i only actually carry Keys/wallet/watch/phone/pocketknife/ hank/ & mayybe a pen, i want a leather belt holster, then i can leave the pouch w/ leatherman/utilityknife/scissor/lighter/spare-flashlight/and various tools&junk....So i think the whole EDC for me goes 1.Backpack 2. Pouch 3. Belt holster ( anyone reccomend a good holster? I want it sleek simple but not looking too tactical.)

i also enjoy fitting all my edc into a single pocket, however i found that the big problem is bulge because my particular way of standing from my desk makes it so i always slam my thighs against the lower shelf of the desk when i have something taller than 1 inch in my pockets, so i ended up using a pouch that was intended for the moondrop chu IEMs, managed to keep my mini tools in there and the rest spread in my pocket and in my keychain because i hang my keys in one of my belt loops.

Imho it's more than worth the extra layer to carry the Super Tinker, or Climber. This gives you almost 2x as much capability, extra blade which I use a lot for opening packaging etc. where you want a controlled cut; the bottle opener is much thicker than the combotool on the Compact and can be used for prying; a reamer as well as the hook; and an actual Phillips SD or if you're carrying the Climber the flat end of the can opener can deal with most Phillips screws, either way better than the combotool which is a pain in the ass if you are trying to use it as a Phillips SD.

Re. your knife, Joker is a Spanish brand from Albacete in Spain, and although they aren't top end, they are certainly not the equivalent of gas station knives which tend to be really low quality and made in China. Albacete is the knife making capital of Spain and they have been making knives there for centuries.
I own a more traditional Joker slipjoint with olive wood scales and the quality is pretty good, although not top end but it wasn't expensive. Joker make very good fixed blade knives for bushcraft.

Shavua Tov & Chag Hannukah Sameach Raz. When it comes to EDC I am a minimalist, I don't carry anything in a multi-tool holding pocket pouch, as I don't want to have to first take out the pouch from my pocket, open it up , take out whatever tool I want & then close it and put it back in my pocket till I finish using the tool & then repeat the process in reverse. Basically when I leave my apartment I have my watch on my wrist, my phone in a back pocket, a wallet in my left pocket & in my right pocket my keys on a keyring with my default 58mm Midnite Mini Champ SAK and a 2nd larger bladed knife - it might be a 1,2 or 3 layer 111mm Victorinox lock blade SAK or a single blade Buck 110 LT or a Civivi flipper or Kershaw assisted opening knife or one of my 40+ Victorinox rotational SAK's of various sizes from 84mm to 93mm ( my favorites being the Huntsman, Huntsman Lite, Compact, Ranger, Mountaineer, Climber, Pioneer X, Farmer X, EvoGrip S17, Sportsman & Tourist ). Thus I take out only the item I want rather than a pouch containing a number of tools and having the Midnite Mini-Champ has eliminated the need to carry a separate flashlight & a pen, freeing up pocket space

    • @Practical_EDC
      @Practical_EDC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you for the warm wishes, Steve!
Chag Sameach to you and your family too ❤️
I completely understand what you mean about the process of first taking out the pouch, than the tool, than putting the tool back after using it, than putting the pouch back in the pocket. It is a hassle, but for some people it's worth the effort if it means that they can just grab a pouch on the way out of the house knowing that they have everything they need right there in one pocket.
It's nice that you find the mini champ sufficient as far as a pen & flashlight, really does save some pocket real estate 😉
But for me personally, it just doesn't cut it. I need a real flashlight in my pocket, and I do use a pen several times a day, so for me it's a no go - I'm happy that it works for you tho! That's awesome buddy 🤘

@@Practical_EDC besides the LED light on the Mini-Champ, I have a lot of my SAK's fitted with a more powerful Nitefox mini flashlight on a small chain & Carabiner which doubles as a lanyard & is easily detached. As for using a pen, whilst I still use them at home, its rare that I use them when out, since most places now no longer require a signature for credit card payment & at most I might scribble a phone number or a note to myself on a post it note in my wallet (besides cash, credit cards, a plaster or 2, ID card, bus pass etc I usually have a few small sheets of post it notes, a folded face mask & if I go traveling one of those flat mini sewing kits that hotels give to guests)

I used to carry these, but it's sometimes sketchy when you try to write and I think it leaked ink once, so I ditched it in favor of...
The Fisher Bullet Space Pen - Can't leak in your pocket, cause the cap is solid, and no problems getting ink out of the pen cause it's pressurized - it can even write upside down.

Not too much different than an Altoid kit altho the Altoid option may afford you a bit more room. As somewhat of a knife guy I would probably opt for a neck knife (or even a boot knife) in lieu of carrying a folder IN something. Likewise you need to watch the type of steel to make things easier. A lot of my stuff is more first aid related than what you have. I am an outdoorsman so I always have a whistle as well. One multi-tool seems enough to me. Nice !

I'm glad this works for you.
That having been said, the selection leaves a lot to be desired.
    For the first kit:
Gerber is junk, and the Dime is no exception. The flashlights are likely better than nothing, but just about everything else is better.
You did not mention the item connected to the photon light. It seems that you waste a lot of space, and do not realize the utility of some items.
The pen is a terrible example of a mini.
The entire kit falls under the heading of junk. It seems you went out of your way to make your kit as useless as possible. Every single item is a bad choice.
    For the second kit:
3 items have potential: the Bic lighter, the PS4, and the S2R2 flashlight. Not the best choices, but certainly not the worst choices, either.
In general, bottle openers are on everything, but I cannot remember the last time I used one.
What do I think about carrying all my eggs in one basket? Not a fan.
Would I carry either kit? No. Would I carry any of those specific items? I used to carry a Bic lighter, and I considered carrying the PS4. As it is discontinued, it went into my collector pile. Ultimately, I will not carry any multi-tool for less than 90% of the implements. Your kit does not work well together, and is mostly wasted space.
Yes, I have had to make compromises, because there is no perfect anything, but you have to start with the best stuff.
With this kit, you need to start over.

DC4 and time and you will kill it with sharpening. Also Leather belt and buy green strop lube who is on your belt inerside so if you need it feu times striping I'd much beter than always resharpen your knife and newer doll it out cos you will need to use Stine but uf it's ok or nead litle striping 5times each side.

The pouch is low priced, but I have found only suitable for slim items. When you put items in the individual pockets it bulks out making some of the pockets too tight for other items

Seems like you could have a few other useful things in the little kit if you got rid of the extra light and the extra multitool. Redundancy in a small kit makes no sense to me. If yer going to have redundancy, I think it should be kept apart from the others. If you lose the pouch, it's all gone, your redundant stuff can't help you.

    • @Practical_EDC

@@Practical_EDC I'd also toss the phone stand. It only does one thing and for what it's used for it's pretty bulky. You can buy protective phone cases on AliExpress fairly cheap that have built in stands, a credit card holder, or other useful things...something multi use that doesn't take up room in your pouch.
