After having a couple of beagles and losing our last one, hubby and I decided to get a lap dog. We just got a 4 month old Havachon. I listened out closely for him the first night but he never got up to wee. He's able to hold his bladder all night but has had a few "accidents" during the day (I seriously think one of those times he was mad bc I didn't give him the table for he was demanding lol)! He is a ball of energy and has shown so much potential to do little tricks. I love my beagles but our havachon's the most intelligent dog we've ever seen. Thanks so much for your videos!

Is it possible to have a havanese while you do a full day at work? I really want one but fear I will have to wait until I am retired to get one because of seperation anxiety. My current cavoodle is able to manage full days while I’m at work he just sleeps and listens to his podcast. I also did a lot of these things with my cavoodle from the day I brought him home and he has only ever had minor separation anxiety and is able to stay home and chill the majority of the time.

Left out one major trait-STUBBORN. They will do something once, and if it is to their liking , it must be done exactly the same every time or it is WRONG, and they will let you know it. They are very strong willed and too intelligent for their own good. They will do what they want to do, and what you want if them to do if they want to. That being said, I've had a havavese for 30+ tears, and would not even think of having a different breed; there is just no other like them. Once you have one, you won't want anything else.

Idk if that’s enough food for him. The breeder didn’t say to measure the food out and neither did the vet, since he’s so young. Just wanted some advice. 🙂

Great video it just sounds like malteser breed. I got two and the girl is more independent and impulsive. Meanwhile her brother is more calculated in games and both of them know as soon as I go to the wardrobe were I have their stuff and candy. They know they get treats if they follow me and sit. Also they are super smart, it took my boy 5 min to learn how to lay. His sister is a bit more stubborn it took her a couple days. her brother lays in training before I even adress him cuz he knows he get a treat. Don't shed nor droll. Super fun and smart dogs just like ur dog breed.

I brought home a 1yr old puppy and it was so exhausting and extremely anxiety inducing to me. I could NOT handle how I was feeling 24/7. I suffer with depression and severe anxiety and I really thought that bringing a dog in the house would make me feel good. But it made me feel 1000 times worse. I had just lost my 12yr old yorkie who was my soul dog, I made a very rash decision only 2 weeks later and brought home a puppy. I was not emotionally prepared to deal with a puppy and I realized that on day 1. I ended up rehoming him after only 4 days, which I feel very guilty about (yes I told the previous owner I had to rehome him, and she was okay with that) I made sure he went to a nice home where hes the only animal and will have lots of love. I rehomed him today, and I thought I would feel like a failure but I actually felt tremendous relief from it. Sometimes its okay to realize that you made a mistake and made a decision that wasnt right for you. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone does things they regret. I was able to come to that conclusion very soon, in 4 days, and I responsibly rehomed him. Only YOU will know what the right decision is. The amount of failure and guilt I feel isnt even comparable to the intense overwhelming anxiety I was feeling when he was in my care. Sometimes you don't know how perfect your life is until something comes in and disrupts it. Lesson learned!!!

We’ve been doing all of what you mentioned and it’s great, just having issues with when we go to the other side of the house she’ll whine. I come back, after completing my task, but it’s like she thinks I’m coming back BECAUSE she’s whining. Love the videos! Thinking about getting a Havanese after my Chihuahua recently passed. Seems like they share many similar qualities, good and bad. I say that cause it leads me down a familiar path so that should help. Only thing I really worry about is the fact that me and my girlfriend are gone for 8-9 hours a day for work. But our Chihuahua was used to that so she actually found comfort in hanging out in her crate until we got home. Wonder if a Havanese would be okay with that over time?

Potty training is the hardest right now! I have a 14 week old gal. There’s no great way to keep her gated into one area of the house because of the layout of our house which is also small. You’re right about sometimes getting it and then sometimes just refusing to go outside for whatever reason and going inside immediately after coming in. It’s frustrating! Can you make a video on puppy biting? I’ve tried all the other ways they say to get it to stop or calm down, and my Lucy just seems to retaliate and do it more when we try and get her to stop. Is it just something we have to put up with until she’s older?

Yesterday I got a puppy after the love of my life passed a few months back. I think my mom needed a dog as a companion more than I do. I'm still missing my pichi and the presence of a puppy is refreshing all my memories of him and i'm so overwhelmed I cannot stop crying. The weird thing that's making it worse is that their behaviours are very similar in a lot of aspects which is bittersweet but throwing me into an emotional doldrum. I had puppy blues when I first got pichi, but they got over in a few days and wasnt this intense.

THE PUPPY BLUES???? UR DOG WHINING THRU THE NIGHT FOR 3 MONTHS???? What the hell is wrong with this breed - OMG My Spanador cried only the 1st night, that was it !!! Toilet trained in 2 weeks. If this is what Havanese do then they are neurotic dogs, not even newborn babies don't cry all night. I am having an apartment built and so for the first time, if I want an allowable breed (re: strata management) it will need 2 be some small common fluff type ie: cavoodle, moodle, or Havanese. GUESS WHICH BREED I HAVE JUST RULED OUT, THE utterly neurotic, nightmarish Havanese. Lady this is so far from normal (I too have had dogs all my life of different breeds) and NEVER ONCE encountered a little crying beyond the first night. Ur dog has batching crazy or the breed is. I have NEVER EVER heard of any puppy doing this crazy neurotic behaviour. U didn't have puppy blues (that is a completely contrived term u have made up). What u had was a seriously problematic dog. Never ever make videos trying to pass this off as normal. IT ISN'T 😮.
