I got lucky and just did "face framing" highlights forever. So the back was natural and even went salt and pepper, tho I didn't 'notice. A hair dresser told me once, "we should warm up the back". Now I'm just toning the face framing highlights to match the salt and pepper.

I am soo sorry that I used to color my hair especially at such a young age when I was a teenager, when my hair would turn from brown/black to red in the summer time.

Possibly some people choose to do maintenance with using a purple shampoo and conditioner or something along those lines, but gray hair can absolutely be maintenance free and takes very little maintenance if you choose to do any at all. In fact, why go "natural" if you're going to worry about it in it's natural state? Trying to keep gray perfectly gray is not "natural". I wash and condition mine like I always have. That's it. I've been gray for almost 10 years now and I have had some yellowing over the years, but I just embraced it. I go out in the sun. I swim in chlorine. I do everything I have always done stress free. I have had more compliments than ever on my hair, even when it is yellowed. The oldest hair you have can become more yellow if you have very long hair. A solution for that may be to just to keep it trimmed, wear it shorter, or to use a fun color on the ends before they get cut away.

I'm in the process of growing out my grey hair and I've researched it extensively. This summer I'm getting my lengths as light as possible which helps the grey roots blend. By Fall and turtleneck weather I'm going to run a diluted silver toner through just the top layer of blonde- keeping the underneath darker hair as natural as possible. I'm slowly transitioning my wardrobe with colors that will enhance my grey hair. I don't think my makeup palette will need to change much but it may for some people. And finally I bought an Olaplex 5pc kit through their website at an amazing price. I'm trying to increase my hairs integrity before crossing over. The one thing I have to offer regarding the one and done is the amount of trauma it puts your previously colored hair through. They either have to use a color remover or bleach it or both. Then it's covered with a grey color, toner, demi, whatever. So your hair will need extra TLC and it will still need maintenance and refreshing because the color will fade on the lengths and ends. Good luck to us all 💫 I'm still excited !

I can appreciate that if you are still working in a corporate environment it is more difficult to let your hair grow out grey. I have been going through the process for over a year and only have until the end of the year to completion. Phew! Several women younger than me who have gone grey warned me to watch out for yellowing. A purple shampoo or conditioner fixes that, and they are not necessarily expensive. Don't be put off by your new grey hair not looking all that great to begin with as there's help for that. Coloring has made your hair look thicker. I strongly recommend a daily biotin supplement to keep new hair growth in top condition. This will also make your nails grow faster, you will be quite amazed to see your nails grow. It's not expensive, I buy biotin tablets in bottles of 365, one for each day of the year. I use biotin shampoo and conditioner. Hope that helps!

I found my first grey hairs today at 29 and by the amount I am thinking they have been here for awhile. I found one and plucked it out and then found 5 more and plucked them out too 🤦🏻‍♀️ I used to dye my hair all the time even until a few years ago and stopped dyeing it to go to my natural brown hair mostly out of laziness/depression. I ended up on this video after googling tonight. I’m not sure if I’m ready for grey hair yet but I feel like dyeing it now would cause so many more issues with maintenance. I remember how poorly my mom’s grey hair would dye in the early 2000’s.

I decided that since I'm almost 70 I would go gray and so I haven't dyed it for 10 months. I had two haircuts and now the dyed part is gone. I don't really like it. It makes me look older and more like my mother. I am going to wait a bit but I think I'm going to go back to dyeing it. I'm juar not ready. I'll try again in a couple years. I don't want to look like some of these really old woman with coal black hair who have obviously dyed their hair.
