  • I'm sharing an update about this channel, which is a shift I recently experienced that I would not have been able to predict when I started Ditching Diets & Dye just under 5 months ago.

    I love how you give yourself the permission to just go with what feels right. Who says you need to stick with the content you set out to do at the beginning? Nobody. Whatever feels true to you your viewers (including me :) will like, resonate with and learn from. Perhaps this is the essence of this video: do what feels right at the core.
    I am still interested in your ditching diets journey too, mostly from the perspective of your mindset change. Being able to truly trust your body (and not your mind's cravings) is a shift which I think many people would value if you shared.

      Thank you for that feedback! That helps to hear. I think mindset change is something I would be happy to talk about 😊

    I’m here for your grey hair updates, not the dieting part. I’m also letting my hair grow out and I’d rather watch channels on women who are on the same journey. Your hair looks really pretty wavy 🌸

    It makes total sense. Constantly talking about ditching your diet isn’t really ditching dieting. Good for you Cat.

      I love how simply you summarized this! It's so true that if you are constantly talking about how you've quit dieting, maybe it's still a preoccupation.

    If you don't want to talk about the dieting part, you don't have to. It's okay to change your mind. I started watching your channel for the grey hair grow out journey. I never thought I would ditch the hair dye but here I am 5 months dye free.
    We enjoy watching you so talk about whatever you feel like talking about.

    I loved this!! I agree!! Ditching diets snd dye has been freeing!! I have found I am learning to love and accept myself even more at almost 55. I think the fact you and I help others to love themselves first and not worry about what the wold wants us to be. I would love to do a collaboration with you!!

    I’m here for the hair grow out personally. Diets have always been a no for me I workout, I eat well but if I want something ‘naughty’ I just have it. Loving your hair and the grey now is so much more noticeable!! Yay xx

    You are such an inspiration! I'm 65 and want to do both of these. I don't want to spend the rest of my life worrying about what I eat. Your body lets you know what works for you if we are willing to listen to it. I'm in the process of just dying my part and letting the underneath grow out.

    Thank you for starting this channel :) I'm turning 30 this year and I have just a few white/grey hairs on the temples... But you encourage me in my "plan for the future" that I will be a cool older lady with long and grey hair. Older is relative :D I made that plan years ago. My mother colours her hair for maybe 20 years now. I don't feel the need to do the same.
    Again: thanks for being open and honest with us and with yourself :)

    Thanks for sharing. I'm on my own journey. 4 months without dye. It's getting harder, but I guess the real me is emerging! Still trying to improve my eating habits. For me, that has been a lifelong struggle. As I get older, more problems emerge, all of them affected in some way by what I eat (Diabetes, Asthma, GERD). I'm kinda sorry you won't be sharing your knowledge about nutrition, but I understand. Gotta do what you are passionate about. I look forward to more videos!

      Congrats on 4 months dye-free 🙌 And, you are not alone with the lifelong struggle with food. I've had to make changes for health reasons along the way, and I do believe there are ways to live with food restrictions but without having the diet mentality (good vs bad, guilty, clean, etc).

    Hi Cat, this video more than another has really peeked my interest in the ditching diets part of your story 😂. I am growing out my grey so that is how I found you initially. I think my new found interest is because you don't even really think about food anymore and that is the just the best way to be and I would love to know how to get there!

    • @DitchingDietsDye
      @DitchingDietsDye  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well that's ironic 😂 I should say that I think about food, but in a completely different way. For example, I think about what foods I want to enjoy and make. I still plan out meals and make grocery lists, but food is not good or bad, and the guilt has faded away. If you want to learn more, I recommend checking out some of the people and resources available. I read Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole & Elyse Resch and The F*ck It Diet by Caroline Dooner. I sort of mashed the two together to create my own process. The main thing is ending restriction. Once all food is "on the table", it stops being forbidden and then way less attractive than before.

    I came here for the ditching the dye side way more than the diet. I’ll stick with your focus either way :)

    I'm a latecomer to your journey. And agree about the food. But I feel that you should keep the title because it describes what I feel we as women can relate to and the message of your channel. Which is finding your own way. .

    Congratulations on that milestone! Having been on the journey to quit dieting for some time now, I look forward to not giving a sh*t about it myself 😅. You can rest assured the dye-free lifestyle you're sharing also has a lot of societal value but about a topic that has categorically less exposure.

    Hi, I found you as I am discovering my true hair colour. Going to catch up on your previous vids. I stopped the dyeing in Feb of 2020. Apart from one trim of the ends in June, I have kept it shoulder length . I thought I would be so self conscious of the line but am surprised that Im not. I wish I was more silver than I am hopefully that will come in time. I am mid 50`s and so pleased for you that you have taken the plunge at your age. I got trapped in the " oh your too young to go grey it will age you ". thing.
    I would still be interested in you sharing with us, your ideas on foods that you have found suit you. I have decided rather than a specific diet, to maybe think more about a lot less sugars and go for good fats and veggies and quality proteins and as much organic as I can possibly do. Glad to have found you. Take Care. xx

      Thanks for sharing! I guess you are hitting your one year milestone this month 🙌 Congrats!
      I probably won't share specific foods, but I think what you describe of eating quality fats, veggies and proteins are solid ways to nourish your body 😊

    This is really interesting. I am definitely here for the hair journey. I never diet so that wasn't my interest. However since you are a qualified nutritionist, I would love to hear about how to make good food tastier. For example, I see others loving avocado and toast but it tastes awful when I tried to make it once. Just a thought!

    I wondered if you noticed your weight change after deciding not to focus on diet. Did your clothes get looser or tighter? I decided the same thing but I do practice intermittent fasting (skipping breakfast) for health reasons and my bloodwork is fantastic! Sugar, liver, kidney, cholesterol readins were excellent says the doctor. Also I am considering letting my natural salt & pepper come back. I went a year without dye 2 years ago then changed my mind.

    You don't seem one to be needing to diet though. I was also preoccupied with dieting when I was 11 though I've never gained weight more than 120 lbs (I'm 5 feet). So I think dieting is just in our minds because of how we perceive our bodies. I just learned that eating healthy is a must and that's it and I just let my body be whatever it wants hahaha. I'm 40 now and 11 months into the grey hair journey. So, good choice on that!

    • @DitchingDietsDye
      @DitchingDietsDye  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's interesting that you say I don't seem one to be needing to diet. Feeling the need to diet, as you point out, starts very early, and I've felt the need to "control my body" with dieting for decades. I truly hope there is a day when no young woman (or any age woman or man) is preoccupied with dieting, and instead focuses on nourishing their bodies and enjoying food. Also, congrats on 11 months 🙌

    I am curious with the ditching the diet... has it caused you to put on weight, lose weight or maintain?

    • @DitchingDietsDye
      @DitchingDietsDye  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My personal experience has been some initial weight gain, followed by resettling around 1 dress size larger than more recent history - but a size I've been many times in the past. I stopped weighing myself 3 years ago, so I only judge based on clothing.
