😂heat styling is lower maintenance ke🤣🤣🤣no maintenance is low maintenance it’s all or nothing and it’s not much work if you have a routine that’s simple and works for you, even naturals with locs STILL HAVE TO MAINTAIN it too
Hair does grow but most people don’t take care of their hair enough to retain length 😂this reminds of the lady that thought hair grows out from the ends of our hair NOT the scalp😭🤣✋🏾

As someone whose hair was relaxed like after a like one month or two months in braids I would see new growth.

If you've ever had relaxed hair, you are familiar with new GROWTH. I'll never understand people who don't get this. Thank you for your patience Essie!
This is just another good example. I don't even think they understand that new growth is a sign of hair growth.
@natura__essie It's mind boggling 😆
This is proof indeed! For those at the back that keep arguing, i hope this video comes your way. Well done Essie 🙏🏾
Thank you 😊
I’m need y’all to understand the different between growing and retaining length
@@Bubbles-qh7ez it's clearly differentiated in the video.
This is getting so dumb. If they wanna wear their hair straight, just wear it straight. Wash n go is not the only "natural" style, so you don't have to keep tearing your ends up if it does that for you. You can even wear your hair stretched without heat. Have these women never come across Indigeous strandz? Curlcodeblack? A plethora of women across the internet that have grown their hair waist length and beyond with their coily hair? It's so weird atp like they're trying to justify wearing their hair however they want to by putting down other people, calling coily haired women "warriors" 😒😒 I promise, a lot of us don't care like that, till you get all bitchy about it😂😂
If “length” is the goal, then I guess I can see how a silk press may do that. It’s an option perhaps. What the clip in the video doesn’t seem to comment on is whether or not she cares if her curl pattern changes / remains damaged from the silk press. But, if that doesn’t matter to someone, then I’m not surprised this is being presented as another option for retaining length. It’s most definitely not the healthiest or “risk free”, but it’s an option. I think it ultimately depends on what people want from their hair journey, and what they do/don’t mind giving up to get it.
For someone with curly/coily hair that wants to grow more of their hair in that specific state, a silk press is a high risk to the health of those curls. If someone wants long hair, but doesn’t care if they lose their curls along the way, a silk press is less of a risky decision. If the hair will be worn straight all the time, the integrity of their curls/coils isn’t really a priority or care. So it wouldn’t make sense to critique people (straight naturals) who decided that through the lens of this video maybe? Because they never cared about protecting their curls to begin with. I agree with you in saying just do whatever you want to do that works for you. I just don’t always like how clips like that try to justify their decision by putting down natural hair. Just get your silk press and keep your justification centred around YOU and YOUR hair. There was no need to speak negatively about natural hair in the process.
😆 🤣 😂
This is why I specifically watch content creators who have long hair and mostly wear it in its natural state. I like to watch people who use similar methods as I do. For me that's little to no heat, a minimal number of products and low manipulation styles.
@@mariposaflame4194 THIS! Technique is very important!
the sebum theory is actually a fact, you can experience it when your hair is relaxed or straight and your scalp hair follicle is free of blockage. I don't even have to use moisturizer anymore because my sebum production is unencumbered as my scalp is cleaned often so when i massage my scalp i spread the sebum wax through my hair. All you need is 5 good products, no heavy oils, no butters, no gels and a simple routine. shampoo, conditioner, deep treatment, leave-in conditioner, styling mousse and/or a light serum. I use the entire moroccanoil hydration line BEST decision ever! my 4c hair is manageable
I am able to get my sebum down my hairs because I wear smedium twists. I just massage my scalp under running warm water and rub the sebum down.
Facts!!!! It’s not that silk presses make hair grow faster, it’s that you’re able to retain more length. You don’t have to do nearly as much detangling and your hair/scalp is pretty much free from product buildup. Brushing the hair daily also helps with sebum distribution and your own sebum is unmatched. I save money by doing silk presses and keeping my routine simple with minimal products. I did my own experiment on my hair as well as my daughter’s hair. No heat for 2 years. We both had so much breakage and splits when we finally applied heat for a trim. Curly hair hides damage. When I went back to silk pressing my hair weekly and blow drying her hair, we both retained so much length. I also don’t have any heat damage. We can style our hair however we want just like other races, it comes down to the proper technique.
@@mariposaflame4194 I do this sometimes, but not under running water. Nice to read.
Yeah, but you don't need more than five products when your hair is coily either. Some people just do a lot, which isn't bad if that's what they want. But I literally just use shampoo and conditioner to wash, then custard, grease and gel to style. An oil to untangle before wash day. That's it. I don't get why they're making the whole thing such a big deal. Silk press is just another style. Blowout is just another style. They don't need to find all these different reasons and justifications for it that heavily imply that coily hair is inherently more stressful to care for?😅😅 Some of us really would not be able to handle the heat of a silk press on any type of regular basis. I've personally found it easier to style my hair without heat and definitely without relaxer. I spritz some water to make it a little more pliable and either style it in twists or a slick back bun. It's simple if you want it to be simple.
@@natura__essie the warm water helps the sebum soften and travel along the hair shaft.
I detangle on dry hair with a non-comedogenic oil like almond oil using a wide tooth comb before washing best decision ever, your hair is weakest when wet so all that hair that comes out when ppl detangle wet is actually breakage. Finger detangling is a waste of time use a comb. Combing when wet causes knots on the ends as well. Btw hair in all forms aka stretched or afro texture grows at the same rate based on the individuals diet, basically the length is hidden and the hair breaks easier in afro state
@@ghostrealm19 Finger detangling is not a waste of time, however you have a great routine...cool! And yes, whether stretched or in its kinky coily state, how much length you retain is in your hands.
this tends to be true for straight and wavy hair. for people who have curly and kinky hair it's best to detangle damp or wet because the natural curl pattern has high tensile strength and combing while dry against high tensile strength can be damaging if not handled gently. adding conditioners or products with slip help decrease this tension so you are less likely to have breakage with detangling.
I also do my first detangle on dry hair with an oil or butter and my fingers then a wide comb or pick. It helps my hairs move past each other without shrinking back up and creating more tangles. I can then put a product with some moisture to detangle with a detangling brush as I've already removed most of the shed hairs. Of course everyone will have different methods that work best for them. 😊
All hair is weakest when wet, including curly hair. Every race has hair follicles, pores, sebaceous glands etc. the only difference is the shape of the pore and how many disulfide bonds are in the hair. Aside from that, any and all hair types, can be styled however with proper technique. All hair grows. Length retention is the issue which comes down to improper technique and practices.
@@__HappilyMarried this sounds like cyn doll propaganda. 🤔
"heat styling is low maintenance and more protective" "the wash and go's tore up my hair" but why not do a protective style without heat (cornrows/braids, flat twists/twists, bantu knots, scarves) that doesn't risk heat damage??? also if the heat allowed more moisture to go in the cuticles the hair would just revert, thats why ppl do more flat irons in less humid seasons (ex: silk press season being in fall/winter when the air is dryer). Just say you like the straight look, it's fine lol
God placed living crown of pure wool on the heads of his chosen Elects, black people! Wake your dumb asses up, you hair is older than Sun n moon, you're wearing God's hair on your head, of course, the hole world is envious n jealous of what your hair represents, that why altering your hair is an abomination unto God.

@@GreenGorgeousness they're beautiful 😍
She should have just said she likes straight hair. Why make up this whole story of afro doesn’t grow as fast as silk pressed hair😂
@@MaNoZu i was wondering the same thing...and coming for people that like their coils; hmm.
It helps retain length easier
@ Many naturals have been able to retain length easily without straightening their hair😂 I am one of them.
They should just relax their hair atp
That could be an option ngl
No, I lost my fertility to that poison. Anything but that.
I disagree. Relaxers are bad for health. Silk presses are a safer alternative.
