Hey, I'm Hannah and welcome to my channel :)
I'm a photographer and video creator currently based in Seattle, Washington.
What's important to me in my art? Portraying a place or experience as accurately as I felt it was in that moment. I like to capture the essence of a place and evoke a feeling of the scene or experience I’m capturing. Sometimes through quiet minimalistic imagery, sometimes through vast landscapes - it can be anything that I’m drawn to. But always through this fly on the wall type of lens. Where the audience can place themselves, for just a moment to see what it would be like.
I love sharing my experiences and the lessons I’ve learned through my journeys with my community; in the hopes of inspiring you to embrace nature and find comfort in the unknown.

Candido 800 - is it worth it?
มุมมอง 8702 หลายเดือนก่อน
I tested Candido 800, a 35mm film stock. It’s a high speed cinema film with the ramjet layer removed. Which means… halation. Based on the website’s description, you wouldn’t know it had halation because it doesn’t make mention of it…anywhere. I purchased this film stock on a whim as I’d never seen it before and figured I would give it a go. It wasn’t until I got my scans back that I noticed hal...

I want a Contax T2 so bad....
11/10 recommend
@@hannahrheaume yes!! But the price tho🥹 contax T2 in mint condition is like 1500+ euros over here🥲
Love all of this! Love Portra 800, love this treehouse place, just amazing!!
Don’t underestimate the value of the camera calibration sliders too 🙏👌💪
When you pushed it at +1 stop did you also push it in development?
I'm thinking she didn't push, she overexposed using the exposure comp (since some of the shots say +0.5, and you can't choose specific photos to push certain amounts). I was really surprised at how they looked until I noticed that. A lot of people mix those terms up. Just in case anyone is reading this and is confused, pushing would be *underexposing* and then overdeveloping. Shooting one stop pushed means faster shutter speeds (usually to help shooting in low light).
❤❤
The cost of film makes me feel anxious to use it, and although maybe you felt it a bit, as besides photographing you were recording it to share your experience, the photos are very soothing. Makes me recall that freeing feeling, to have a few photographs I can remember where and when I took them, closer to my memories of it. Sometimes I check my digital files and I think I shot unnecessarily too many photos that don't say much, maybe in part because digital have evolved so much that rather than seeing what my eyes see it looks like what digital perfect machines see.
Film is very expensive, especially when you need to develop it too! I like the feeling it gives my photos and how it forces me to slow down. I’m much more selective when I hit that shutter button - I don’t want a single exposure to go to waste. Digital photos definitely have a different feeling - the crispness and perfection can sometimes be too much. I find myself editing my digital photos to look filmic more and more.
Thanks for the video. Even though I've been shooting for years, I'm always curious what other people do. Your videos look amazing, I love the colors and the contrast!
Ah thank you so much! Happy you enjoyed this video 😊🌼
apparently a repackaged Vision 3 500T

Enjoyed this, thank you! Hope you do more film videos in the future 🤓📷❤️
I will be!! Thanks for watching 😊🎞️
You are AWESOME MY LITTLE ONE ✌️
Makes your pictures look like crap
Well guess I like crap cause I love demmmm
Amazing
I’m in a big dilemma, 24-70 gm ii or a bunch of fast primes .. I currently hold the 24 1.4 gm for low lightning conditions and the 70-200 gm ii… I wonder if I should buy it or just go for 35 + 85 1.4 gm’s
I think it really depends on what you’re shooting! I photograph in fast paced environments and mostly outside. So for me, primes although they’re incredible, can be a little cumbersome in the field. The 24-70 is incredible for versatility and really works for every situation I find myself in on most days.
Yes. The entire west coast near the pacific ocean is absolutely gorgeous. Redwood forest is probably my favorite. The trees are the most gorgeous and biggest in the world and I love all the rain and lush forests, it’s definitely a wonderland. Its a shame that all those states are run by leftist psychos because if they were red states I would absolutely buy lots of land and build my dream home there. I have to settle with the smoky mountains and blue ridge mountains for now, still gorgeous just not as majestic. Thanks for sharing
Hey there Hannah, what did you think about the grain in the cascades with Candido? The halation is a wonderful perk to this film stock. I enjoyed your presentation and in depth review. You guys do great work!
The grain was pretty fine imo. It didn’t feel to distracting or obvious in my photos!
thumbs up for telling the name of the lens a in the title
We don’t click bait here 🙅🏻♀️🤝
This video has such a relaxing vibe! Thanks so much for sharing - I love the shots. Interesting lens :)
Love the subject isolation as you said with close ups, but I also love the dynamic effect it creates with landscape photos. Great vid!
love the flower close ups! 😍
Thank you!! Some of my favs!
Wow that lens is wild. I would definitely struggle with it haha. Ultra dreamy results though 👀
I definitely struggled haha but it was such a fun experience. Felt good to challenge myself - so spoiled with autofocus these days. I definitely want to shoot with it again.
I don't know anything about photography or cameras, but I think this lens would be perfect for dreamy portraits or album covers
Couldn’t agree more! I definitely want to try it for portraits!
👏
Not much about the island. Very disappointing.
I was using one for awhile ,sold it, and just rebought it last night LOL!
Hi I have a7cll, should I get this lens ? What are your thoughts. ?
@@IRFAN-po5sz I'd wait and get the 24-50!
Thank you
Are the White Balance setting ranges you mentioned that you stick to the same for both video and shooting stills?
Yes they are! But I feel like I have more flexibility (in post) when it comes to photos so I usually use those as a rule of thumb, if you will, and use my eye depending on the scene and the “look” I’m going for.
@@hannahrheaume makes sense - thanks!!
So informative! Thank you Hannah!! Is there a rule for exposure compensation on a camera? Should we always adjust it around 0.0 or it depends on the situation?
Of course! And i shoot in slog 3 so I typically lean on the brighter side (without clipping) when it comes to exposure because that works best for me in post. It might be different for you + your camera because every picture profile and camera is different. Maybe try out some test shots exposing differently on each one and see what produces the cleanest image! Lmk if you have follow up q’s!
Great job, very inspiring 9 to 1000
I own a 24-105 f4, I'm between getting the 16-35 2.8 or sell my 24-105 and get the 24-70
Hi bro, so what you did, got 24-70 ll, if yes then what's difference in comparison with 24-105. ? Thanks.
I’ve had a 24-70 for years and have enjoyed it, but didn’t realize how much I loved it until I went to Italy for 10 or so days and it was only off my camera for maybe 3 hours total. Like you said.. it really is a perfect lens for traveling
The photo of the man on the bench at 7:00 is incredible.
You speak so fast ⚡
I recently got a carbon fiber tripod and it's a game changer! Just found your channel, hope it takes off :)
Really nice video Hannah, has made me want to try some film shooting even more than I already wanted to! 👏🏻
Love your video style!😭 Can you do a video showing how you color grade your videos?
Does the backpack have to be expanded for the medium camera cube to fit?
No it doesn’t! I don’t think I’ve ever actually expanded it either haha
Good stuff. Your videos are fun and provide some really great insights on using Lightroom. I'm enjoying watching as refreshers for Lightroom. I hope you keep them coming.
Thanks so much! Glad they act as refreshers for you :)
I’m from Singapore and this film brand is way cheaper than Portra 800 and CineStill. I just bought a Candido 800 today to try out for my upcoming trip and it was 18.50SGD compared to 33SGD for Portra 800 🥲 I think that’s why it’s considered marketed as a ‘budget film’ in Europe and Asia at least.
Beautiful Hannah ✌️
I'm about to buy a 24-70 for the first time this year (somehow I've never owned one lol) and I'm really excited to finally have this focal length. Great video!
It’s a game changer for sure. I bet you’ll love it 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Tried 2 copies, both tilted with weak right side. Test yours before the return period is up. I’ve decided to wait for the 24-70 F2.
You're comparing an island to a whole country. That's not fair
Thanks for this great tutorial...you sold me on the gm11.....the manual aperture ring is ideal...✌️
Even before this one, (the what's in my bag video you did) - you had me sold on just getting the 24-70 gm II. Oh, and the 100-400. I have no idea how many lenses I have, but downsizing for good quality ones that cover a huge range seem to be a wise choice as I get older. I definitely think i'll pick up these two for an upcoming trip from England to Chicago & Colorado in winter.
I love my Sony lenses especially the 24-70! The versatility is just a game changer. Andddd the 100-400 is my ideal zoom. Though I do want to try the 200-600 too! Hope you like these lenses as much as I do!
Thank you for this! I've just started using Lightroom in the last week and I find myself having to learn curves now. (I suppose I *could* have learned them in Snapseed, which I was using (still using, actually), but I just...didn't!) I seem to end up with very gentle S-curves more than anything else; I find that if I move a curve very much at all my photos end up with this weird garish color thing going on. So much to learn! :)
I’m so happy you found it helpful! Let me know if you have any questions or video requests 🙌🏼
Mountain Loop Scenic Byway, I think.
