- I’m sharing all my tips and tricks when it comes to shooting video on my camera, Sony Alpha 7R V. I used to be intimidated by filming on my camera, I exclusively took video on my phone because every time I would try to take video on my camera - it just didn’t look right. With a lot of trial and error - I found what works best.
By the end of this video you should know all the basics when it comes to filming on your camera! In this video, we’ll cover:
The ideal camera settings for filming on any DSLR or Mirrorless camera
ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed
Best white balance ranges for outdoors vs indoors
Video quality
Video assist tools like Zebras and Peaking
Picture Profiles like sLog

Thank you
Thanks for the video. Even though I've been shooting for years, I'm always curious what other people do. Your videos look amazing, I love the colors and the contrast!
Ah thank you so much! Happy you enjoyed this video 😊🌼
So informative! Thank you Hannah!!
Is there a rule for exposure compensation on a camera? Should we always adjust it around 0.0 or it depends on the situation?
Of course! And i shoot in slog 3 so I typically lean on the brighter side (without clipping) when it comes to exposure because that works best for me in post. It might be different for you + your camera because every picture profile and camera is different. Maybe try out some test shots exposing differently on each one and see what produces the cleanest image! Lmk if you have follow up q’s!
Are the White Balance setting ranges you mentioned that you stick to the same for both video and shooting stills?
Yes they are! But I feel like I have more flexibility (in post) when it comes to photos so I usually use those as a rule of thumb, if you will, and use my eye depending on the scene and the “look” I’m going for.
@@hannahrheaume makes sense - thanks!!
