I love your guides as I’m making my way through the older content., especially the alliance raids. I am 4 quests away from this and usually watch a guide just as a heads up (I feel guilty if I die). This is the first time (that I know of) where you mentioned spoilers, am I okay to go into this fully blind and there not being and crazy mechanics to be aware of? I flex between DRK/WHM/RPR and usually do reaper in trials as I feel there isn’t much responsibility on me compared too if I’m a healer for example.

Did this alliance raid for the first time last night with some FC folks and what turned out to be a very good group who got a lot of the mechanics right. Such chaos and madness, but damn, that was fun! This is a dense raid that seems to throw the kitchen sink at you, so I understand why this guide needs to be 20 minutes. Great job again, Scrub!

That was totally my reaction when I realised the boss the raid was named for was _first._ I remember thinking, “wait. If the last boss is first, how much worse are things going to get??” 😬 1:08 death wall! Death wall! Always a pain when you don’t want one, and never there when you do lol 1:14 as a TBN loving DRK, I appreciate learning of these types of attacks 1:54 this is a type of mechanic tanks need to pay attention to, _especially_ off-tanks. When you have a telegraphed cleaving TB that goes on all tanks/the OT, it is your responsibility as the tank to aim that shite away from the party. Imagine the boss’s hit-box is a clock (yes, this is why on NA we call them clock spots). As an OT, you should be in the habit of standing at 11 or 1 (NW or NE if you’d prefer compass directions). This helps ensure that 1) you can take over should the MT fall/there’s a tank swap, and 2) cleaving TBs won’t hit the party 3:22 when moving behind the boss, keep in mind that the third set of aoes are still coming out, and you can accidentally make the safe spot unsafe if you bait the aoes there. It’s best to count the puddle aoes, and move in after the third set goes out. You can stand just in front of Eden and move in once the puddle aoes have gone out. This’ll give you plenty of time to move behind Eden before Pure Light finishes casting (you only need to move halfway through Eden’s hitbox, as Pure Light’s radius is just the front ~49% of the hitbox) 3:51 again, tanks it’s our responsibility to aim these adds away from the party. They don’t tether, so they can be moved close to each other, but the cleaving TB means you want them aimed at least at a 45° from each other 4:05 legit forgot they did this lol Thanks for the guide, Scrub! This was an interesting and fun raid tier (both fight and story wise). Looking forward to the rest of the guides (maybe you’ll help me _finally_ get that one mechanic from E8 down! lol)

Fun fact about the Alpha Zaghnat's Augurium ability: You can just side step it. You can completely avoid the damage. It's a cone though so just don't walk in front of it.

Lmao modern guides for this is so funny for someone who played in ARR, first boss "move the purple tethers to the towers" why? You dont see Daybreak anymore so the towers arent needed, the add phase and platforms of boss 2 were fun but again you skip. My basic point is SE need to add ilvl sync then we'll have some fun *evil laugh*

YAY i get to commit tax fraud!!! very easy to digest guide - im fairly new to ffxiv and did these raids Once when they were required, had a great time, no idea what was going on, never touched em again and forgot the tiny bit i did learn back then. now im caught up with msq so i figure i may as well go at it again at some point. i definitely understand it more after watching!!! :D

They look like birthday cakes lol, but their randomness makes them feel different from Shiva circles, imo 1:08 this was the expansion that brought us the “there are lines on the floor” memes lol 1:18 the thing that constantly amazes me about you, Scrub, is how you notice solutions like this. This mechanic was such chaos for me originally, and even now it was still chaotic, but at least I knew to use the floor as a guide. But I was so busy paying attention to my feet, I never realised such an elegant solution existed. Cheers 2:30 love me some checkpoints in multiphase fights 3:02 I mean, if you want to ruin my fun, sure 3:53 strictly speaking, this isn’t the first non-alliance fight that has mechanics that make it mechanically un-soloable (Susano is the first iirc), but they’re still pretty rare (I can only think of this, Susano, and one other. With the former two theoretically possible with enough dps) 4:01 I see Hades is a fan of PvP 😁 4:17 ok, but that’s a disturbingly delightful mechanic for someone named after a god of death 4:59 me: treating this like a race and trying to break free first My friend: plays chicken with the timer 😂 5:28 I love how much the fight plays with death. The doom mechanic has you watching your comrades fall, one by one, and you’re powerless to save them. Here, the seriously long cast time gives you more than enough time to see your demise coming, and to realise there’s nothing you can do to stop it. In the end, we are all powerless in the face of death. Very appropriate of Hades as a FFXIV character, and the source material Great guide as usual, Scrub! You’ve some fun fights coming up, and I’m looking forward to your videos on them 😃

Just did this one and I gotta say, while it was a lot of mechanics to remember it was AWESOME nonetheless. Thank you for the guide because lord knows I would have died 10 times without it rather than the 2 i actually got.

This dungeon is so visually busy (as one would expect from the apocalypse) that expect to run it several times and still spot new details (like the apparent couple who died together). Enjoy the Ancients’ living nightmare! Also, having worked at a major retailer for far too long, this is accurate for Black Friday (I’ve seen sweet old ladies go full WWE over a toaster, and a grown ass man pile-drive a pallet of TVs. Even had someone light a table of socks on fire) 0:49 players tend to run away when tethered, and if you can outrun the mob long enough (6 seconds), the debuff will fall off). But honestly, you have to run really far, so it’s better to just kite it around the group just enough to be out of its blast range when it dies. The debuff stacks on their own don’t really matter if you’re not hit by its self destruct 1:31 that’s clever. I’ll try doing that the next time I heal this dungeon 1:40 🤣 🤣 🤣 1:52 where was this advice when I first ran this dungeon and parked myself into a corner against the wall??? (It ended as well as you’d expect lol) 2:19 most players probably won’t bother with Coils (I highly recommend clearing normal, especially before you finish ARR, as there’s a lot of background story there), but iirc that’s the first time the game introduces this kind of bolder mechanic (LotA’s boulders don’t work this way), though there’s an added element (seriously, if you haven’t cleared Coils normal, I _highly_ recommend you do) 2:41 I think this confuses some players. So, as your friendly neighbourhood DRK who was there for old Living Dead, let me explain y’all a thing: 80% of your max health means that, if you have 100 max HP, the damage is 80, leaving you with 20 HP. But that’s _if you’re above 80% HP._ If for whatever reason you are below 80% of your max health, it one-shots you. I actually thought this was an insta kill mechanic (it really should be) because most players aren’t at full HP when they get hit, so they died on impact lol 4:00 Colonel Sanders’ nightmare 4:49 but _damn_ does it have a nice view 4:53 so, fun fact, I like forcing wall-to-wall pulls with the Trusts/Duty Support. And of every pull I’ve done, the second of these two is still the hardest for me to do. I don’t know why they can handle the fist one ok, but that second one _still_ hits like a train (keep in mind, what role I’m in does affect how well W2W works with the AIs. But in my experience, every W2W is doable with a bit of planning) 6:16 I love that “falling off the arena” is now a mechanic 6:30 whilst this is true, the faces have a tell before they fire. What I like to do is stand in line with one, and turn my camera to face it. Right before they fire, the faces will do a kind of head turn. If the face I’m in line with doesn’t move, I know I’m safe. If it does, the tell gives me enough time to move out of the beam with minimal to no damage (depending on my reaction time) 6:49 again, this is correct. I haven’t tested my strat enough to say it’s foolproof, but I do know that there is a gap between the doom fire, and the laser. I tend to move into that gap so that, even when I’m the target, I’m not actually in the aoe, so I don’t take damage. Again, I haven’t tested this enough to say it’s 100%, but it is an option 6:58 this is the main reason my strat isn’t foolproof. If those point blank AOEs are in that safe gap, it’s not useful anymore lol Enjoy the senic gpose location, and the following cutscenes, first timers! Learned a lot from this one, Scrub. You’re doing my favourite expansion justice, haha. Looking forward to the rest!
