      Hi Michelle, great question! I’ve just been trying to change my mindset when it comes to stuff. So I pronounce “love” normally when referring to people and I say “lurv” when referring to things to reinforce the difference in my mind. It probably seems silly but it’s really helped me be more conscious about my priorities. It’s nice to “meet” you! Thanks for taking a moment to say hello in the comments. 💛

    I’m always fascinated with minimalists but live a very maximalist life. I’m in the beauty industry so it’s extremely hard to be a minimalist with makeup and skincare. I literally get gifted products at my job and with my employee discount, I can’t help but continuously shop the newest products. It’s a struggle.

    Regarding repressing the Clinique Cheek Pops it didn’t work for me. I usually mix powder with Isopropyl alcohol and then it’s fine. But this didn’t separate enough and chunky pieces came off when I tried to use it. Maybe it could work if you manage to totally pulverise the powder and then repress it.

    Great video! I am not a makeup wearer. Most days I put on lipgloss and go! I have oily skin and never found a foundation that worked for me so I quit wearing it entirely years ago. • @zachbecvar
    @zachbecvar หลายเดือนก่อน

    I didn't realize until recently how much of an issue the sagging/loosening of skin becomes with age. Seems good that a makeup company is taking that into account. When you mentioned the built in sharpener, my mind immediately went to the 256 count Crayola crayon box that was the envy on elementary school kids everywhere. I'm sure as Gen Xers and older millennial start getting older and need to transition to products marketed for the mature age group, they might have the same thought. 😂 Watching this, there is something so satisfying when a claim of glidability is true. Smooth application is so nice. And I'm surprised that the color names are so simple. It's such a refreshing change to some of the overstylized names that products get adorned with these days. If the biggest critique your testers had was the fact that the name of the color isn't on the packaging, I'd say the product must be really good.

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler หลายเดือนก่อน

      The firmness of the skin is a huge factor in certain makeup products. I'm surprised that more companies don't try to create age-friendly formulations. It seems like the market would be huge. Hopefully we'll start to see more products like this on the market as the "pro-age" movement gains momentum. I can see why your mind immediately jumped to that 246 count Crayola crayon box. 😂 Smooth application really is great. Especially when it's accompanied by staying power. Isn't it refreshing to see such simple, descriptive names? Then again, maybe that's why I had never heard of the brand before this: their names aren't memorable. Meanwhile Charlotte Tilbury is selling her 15 billionth "pillow talk Hollywood flawless finish for a superstar sunshine glow" something or other. Yeah, every single one of my testers was really impressed. It was fun to discover something that could be useful to so many people - especially such an underserved audience.

    • @zachbecvar
      @zachbecvar หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TheStyleStumbler I still remember the phrase "greying of America" from college sociology classes. It does seem like there needs to be more concentrated effort into serving that market. I'm sure there will be an uptick in products for them. Some of the ridiculous names and outlandish packaging makes me wish things would transition to minimalist design and naming. And I'm sure your testers were grateful for your efforts to include them. 😁

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler หลายเดือนก่อน

      I sure hope so, especially considering the fact that we all end up in that market at some point (if we're lucky). With the rise of AI and algorithms, I have a feeling brands‘ names for things will only get worse as they try to hit every SEO point and still have trademarkable names. 🙄 I know that I am always grateful for your thoughtful comments, Zach!

    I also think the A506 could be softer, and I've never heard anyone else share that opinion! When I use it under the eyes, I have to make sure that I use tiny swiping motions rather than patting like everyone says to. Otherwise it's too rough for me. It's not horrible, but it's not worth dealing with that when I have other tools that don't feel prickly 🤷‍♀️

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad I'm not alone in that opinion. (I kind of thought I would be after hearing so many people rave about it. I assumed I just have extra sensitive under eyes.) Despite the mild prickly-ness it performs really well. I would just make a personalized softer, smaller version of it if I could.

    I am really a fan of ESUM cosmetics and of their brushes. I have more of their W series but I was wondering how the reimagined synthetics performed. I have tended to prefer natural bristles but the cleaning and care of synthetics does give them an advantage. I don’t need new brushes now but they certainly should be considered a great option. You’ve articulated some of the real advantages the new brushes offer. Congratulations on becoming an affiliate.

      They have continued to impress me over the years. I too tend to prefer natural hair bristles, but I do use their T37 synthetic brush when I'm traveling with my cream foundation/concealer, and it works really well. I'm actually really curious as to how their V27 and V29 brushes would work: I have an inkling the V27 might actually be my ideal concealer brush, size wise. But it's always hard to tell from the images. But like you: I really don't need new brushes right now, so I'll work with the great tools I already have. I'm so glad that I was able to communicate the advantages of the new brushes, especially when buying brushes online can be so challenging. Thanks for the congratulations, Catherine! It was lovely to hear from you.

    I have a small face like you. I love using both Rephr 4&5 for bronzer and blush interchangeably, more so with the bronzer. Rephr 04 has an angle that can help apply brontour if that’s your preferred method of application.

      Thank you for those suggestions! I actually have the Rephr 4 and use it so often for blush that I must have blinded myself to it for bronzer. I'll have to try "repurposing" it now. I appreicate the inspiration!

    Somehow the forces at work in the universe knew I was going to need to see a video from you as a solitary island of calm in very rough seas of the last few days. I'm glad of that. I have to say, I'm jealous of your Esum case and it's semi rigid format. I wish I could find something like that for my kit bag on the rare occasions when I travel. It would make packing easier and put me at ease of stuff not getting smashed. It's always a shame when a die-hard favorite thing is lost. Hopefully you can either buy it again or find an adequate replacement. Bristle shedding is an issue with any brush for any purpose. I've gone to pull what I thought were loose hairs from trimming my beard only to discover it's a bristle form my boar hair brush that decided to yell Geronimo when I was using it. Kudos on Esum for providing a such a thoughtful response to your comments on the T11 brush. And I can't help it, but something about the V09 brush pops images of Beaker from the Muppets in my head.😂😂 I like your presentation of the brushes talking about how you use them and showing some makeup application footage. It helps me gain a better understanding of everything. I do have to mention that I was distracted by the half empty, non-symmetrically organized book shelves behind you. I can hear all that empty space crying out to have written knowledge placed there. You closer of Stumbling in Style gives me a moment's pause this time around as I need to go suit shopping for a wedding I'm attending in a couple of months. I hope I can find something that isn't a total train wreck.

    • @TheStyleStumbler

      After reading your comment, I will never look at the V09 brush the same way again. It will forever be a "muppet brush" to me now. Which I think automatically makes it my favorite. That ESUM case really is awesome for traveling. I'd buy entire suitcases from them if I could. The design perfectly fits my needs. It is rough when a favorite is lost. I think I'll probably repurchase that W19 brush during Black Friday season considering how sorely it has been missed. I'm glad to hear that bristle shedding wasn't my bronzer brushes‘ attempt at a strike. Although my old bronzer brushes seem to shed way more than any brush should. Luckily I got some good recommendations I can look at. Yes, ESUM's response on the T11 was very thoughtful. The original company (Muse Beauty) used to have AMAZING customer service. I have a feeling they took that with them when they evolved into ESUM cosmetics. I'm glad the footage of the brushes came across. It's always difficult to buy brushes online because it's hard to tell the exact size, shape, flex and density when you can't touch them in person. I really hope this helped anyone who was on the fence about any of these. The empty bookshelves make me sad, too. They are normally filled, but there's a long story as to why they were empty at the time I filmed. I did my best with the sound, but foreign spaces and limited materials didn't offer me many possibilities. Shopping for a wedding outfit is always intimidating. But I feel like both you and I are starting to find our groove with personal style (at least based on some of the outfits you've shared). I have a feeling you're more prepared for the task than you might think. I'm sorry to hear that you needed a reprieve, but I'm glad I was able to offer one. It's always lovely to hear from you, Zach.

      @@TheStyleStumbler Long live the Muppet brush!!!😂🤣😂🤣 I think people will get a lot out of your brush demonstrations. You did a great job on that. I know I've sat looking at images of things doing online shopping trying to vision quest my way into making sense of the photos and descriptions to try and imagine the real thing. On a couple of occasions, I've felt like I'm acting out those memes of how the US will use anything but the metric system. Anytime I see empty bookshelves, or even ones that are really nicely organized, I notice it because mine are crammed full with books on top of books and in front of books. If I ever get room for more space to nicely organize them, it'll take awhile to get used to it. I don't think I'll ever feel totally comfortable in a suit, but I feel like I've got a better handle on my sense of style so I can be a bit more choosy and confident when I go shopping. it's been a lot the last few days. I'm hoping things will abate soon. Your reprieves are always welcome and greatly appreciated.

      @@zachbecvar Everyone needs a muppet brush! 😂 As convenient as online shopping is, sometimes nothing beats being able to see something in person. I can understand not feeling comfortable in a suit. Maybe you just haven't found the right one yet. Perhaps you need to lean more into the historian side of you and go with a more vintage style. Or maybe you should just completely redefine what kinds of suits people wear to weddings. A space suit would surely be unexpected. ;-) I hope things get easier sooner than you expect.

    • @zachbecvar

      @TheStyleStumbler the convience of online shopping is nice, but I like seeing things in person first if I can to hopefully avoid duds. It's true, I've never been comfortable wearing a suit. Hopefully I'll find something that really fits me.😉😂 I do like your idea of redefinition. I've mulled the idea of samurai style robes before. The look elegant, but also really comfortable. I'm also reminded of a TV program where the host had a group of fashion design students put on a show where the theme was styling boiler suits for all occasions to include black tie. I could go for that. 😂😂 I would add the idea of a kilt in there, but if I were to ever get one I wouldn't want the dress style, I'd want the everyday style that hangs a bit longer from the waist and needs like 12 yards of fabric.

    • @TheStyleStumbler

      You are so right: having hair is great. Having hard-to-style hair is a challenge. Although some of the products I mentioned made a noticeable difference, I think the most helpful thing was learning how my hair structure actually worked: my hair can only hold a style when styled from wet to dry. If I had figured that out from the start I could have saved a lot of time and money on products, for sure. I wish you the best of luck as you try things out. I hope you'll let me know if you learn anything interesting!
