Planting A New Garden Space & A Week Of Garden Updates 🐝🥴🌺

Today I am transplanting the contents of lots of my Spring containers out into a new space I’ve created in the garden, after removing a huge mound of Lamium. But before that, I’d filmed an update every day last week which I thought I’d put into a video montage to share with you all: Sun - rain Mon - clearing the Lamium Tues - dealing with a wasps nest Weds - repurposing tomato canes Thurs - ‘Sa...

Throughout the video you will notice many garden statues as well as very pret...
Building A HIBERNACULUM - 🐸 A Secret Underground Wildlife Haven
มุมมอง 2.7K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Continuing on in my quest for a wildlife friendly garden, today I am building a hibernaculum which is a series of underground chambers for amphibians to use throughout the winter to protect themselves from the cold, and a safe space for them to hibernate. It might also attract solitary bees, plus other insects, which would be lovely. I believe we should all try to encourage birds, mammals and i...
🌟SUMMER IS HERE🌟 Wonderful Weekend Fixing Garden Problems🌟
มุมมอง 4.7K28 วันที่ผ่านมา
Today is my first garden video for Summer 2024 so that’s exciting, and I always think of Summertime as being quieter in the garden. That’s not to say, of course, that there’s less to do - more that all the Spring garden projects and much of the transplanting (my constant moving plants around) is hopefully done, and now its time to focus on maintenance and just keeping everything happy, particul...

Welcome back to my garden. It’s the final week of Spring for 2024 and it’s been a busy season in the garden. I hope you enjoy it as we now head on into Summer. If you’d like to join my Facebook page, also...

We finally our new garden table and chairs and we couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out. Welcome to my garden in Essex, England in May 2024. I’m delighted to take you around and share how my garden is doing at this time of year. Hi Janette Loved this July garden tour. Your plants are beautiful and compliment one another too. Yes,i think the hydrangea vanilla fraise even looks a little large at the front of shady corner. Maybe you could replant it behind the yellow seat when you remove the apple tree? So interesting when you talk about your plants especially with your brand of humour thrown in😂😂. All of your recent projects and transplants from your tubs and pots look so established already! It certainly does look a good year for hydrangeas But as for buddleias, where I am, although some are flowering well, there is a noticeable lack of butterflies. Hopefully, if the weather sorts itself out a bit, next year will be better for them. Have a lovely week, I am off to do more weeding after lunch, so therapeutic!

    Everything looks absolutely gorgeous Janette 🌺. I am gathering inspiration from this, as my garden is only 4 years old and still a work in progress. My backyard garden is wide open to wildlife, since there are no neighbors in the back. We have possums, rabbits, snakes, bears, and a few skunks. Consequently, I moved the fussy plants to the front this year -- creating a cottage garden I can reach with a hose from my front porch. LOL. The back garden is now more rugged with stronger plant varieties that can handle the critters and the bitter wind during the winter from the wide open space.

      Oh I’m glad you agree Julie, I just don’t like them at all, I don’t really have anything against yellow flowers, so maybe it’s the silver and yellow together? I do try and make a point of trying to learn my plant names and the good thing about all my videos is that I can always go back and check if I forget. The Bloodgood where the apple is is rather a good idea, although it would be a bit hidden behind my yellow chair, that’s the only thing. But I’m going to google as it really us full shade and I just need to check because I think the Bloodgood likes a little bit of sun, but something to think about 🙏 have a lovely week 🧡😊

    Hello Janette. Your garden looks very nice. In my part of the world we have had the July winds. I did some gardening this afternoon there was no wind,, I fertilised my roses they have not done so well. My Mum was clever with growing roses. I think the Dutch and English are better with rose a better climate perhaps.. Happy gardening Australian weeds are not always attractive but we put up with them

    A wonderful July tour! You have such a fabulous garden. I really thought it was a real gate there in the shady corner. It's given me an idea for my very small garden. I have managed to get a little more colour in my garden this year which I'm pleased about. I've taken inspiration from your videos. I have a slight hiccup though, I've just acquired two little fur babies one of which I'm fostering and already I'm having to move things and put up little barriers 🤣 so, it will be a while yet before I get anything near as lovely as your garden. 😍 many thanks for sharing your beautiful garden with us. ❤

      Good morning and thank you 🙏 I highly recommend those garden illusion gates for brightening up a dull area. I love mine. And how lovely you have two little fur babies, although I do remember that stage with mine when they were puppies they were always digging holes in my lawn until they were about 2! One day I turfed a section and the next day they had ruined it for me!! But after that phase they were as good as gold and never ruined anything. Have fun with them and have a great day 😊🧡

    Hi Janette, trust you and Richard are well. I really enjoyed your quick fired clips , easier for you and an interesting change from your usual single take video. I'm impressed by your editing skills, especially the music interludes. You made me smile a few times , you are a natural comedian in a quiet way. Your garden looks lovely, your plant moves are creative and bold. We visited the RHS flower show at Tatton on Friday, we loved it. The sun helped, the tent flower displays were brilliant. During the day we enjoyed the live music, the various stalls and even listened to a talk on flower arranging! Impressed? Well we only sat in the talk to escape the sun but ended up enjoying the guest speaker on flower arranging! We bought a woven willow plant which needs planting still. Our new drive is complete now so replanting etc almost done. Enjoy the rest of the week. YEITN Steve

    Beautiful looking garden and great planting the empty space it looks beautiful. The weather over here in Ireland is the same as you with plenty of rain and highs of 20 degrees celsius. We have only watered the flowerbeds three times so far this year and the pots twice a week. We are lucky we don't have the temperatures they are getting in parts of Europe and the United States.

      Thank you so much for watching Nicholas, and you are so right how fortunate we are. I chat to many garden friends here who just cannot even go out into their gardens apart from early morning and it must be so tiring having constant heat all the time, not to mention sad to see the gardens struggling. So I’m never complaining that it rains here. Past 2 days it has been hotter here and I’ve been hand watering. Hope you’re having a lovely Saturday evening 😊🧡

    Hi. Just a thought, couldn’t you use your green wheelie bin as a compost bin? The wasps won’t be able to get in that because of the lid. I’m always sad when I see my neighbours green bins getting collected when they could be putting all the nutrients back into their gardens. I use a large dalek type compost bin for kitchen and garden waste. It’s so full of hungry worms that anything I put in gets broken down so fast, it always amazes me.

    • @TheEnthusiasticGardener
      @TheEnthusiasticGardener 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Kerry it probably doesn’t look like it but those 3 bags are so full that I’d only get a small bit of one of them in my green bin. But I think I’ll do what you’ve done and buy 3 dalek ones (good description, I know exactly what you mean). I see them all the time on Facebook Marketplace really cheap. Thanks for your idea though. Have a happy day 🧡😊

    • @kerryfirehorse
      @kerryfirehorse 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TheEnthusiasticGardener Yes! I got my large Dalek bin off marketplace for a fiver. Once the compost process is happening well, and if it’s in the sun, it breaks down so fast. I fill it up to the brim and squash the lid down, and within a week or 2, it’s less than half full again. I’ve been packing stuff in for 3 years, plain cardboard boxes and all, and it’s still not full. I have taken some compost out the bottom, but not a lot. It’s very rich compared to shop bought.
