This sounds about right for Walsh. He constantly sticks his fingers in his metaphorical ears, refuses to understand what people are saying, then weaponizes that lack of understanding. He just didn't realize that movies are small enough that even his audience can understand them to some degree.

From the short time I've heard about this man, I feel like his original video can describe his entire TH-cam career and "review" method, if not simply this review alone.

Well, nobody ever accused Matt Walsh of being intelligent... The guy is a professional grifter, all while thinking he's cooler & smarter than everyone else.

I fee one ofl the biggest reasons FMA: Brotherhood is so beloved is that it was one of the few anime that had a really good ending & gave us satisfying conclusions to a lot of character arcs. It doesn't feel like your time was wasted, unlike a show such as Game of Thrones. Yes, GoT is still an amazing show, but that final season really ruined a lot the overall opinion.

Some of his points are dumb sure, and he exaggerated how bad it is but he does actually make some points that are valid criticisms on the movie that you are actually the one making bad faith arguments for tbh. The movie was okay but it’s heavily overrated and this video is only here because people attacked him for making a short video explaining he didn’t like the movie on twitter, which btw is literally a platform made to express all kinds of opinions, including this one, so it’s not like you can defend others toxicity (or take part it in) and then tell him he shouldn’t use twitter to put his views on.

Man, from a Catholic perspective Matt Walsh is a pretty awesome guy (from what I’ve seen; I’m not an expert on his work) but I agree that this is a terrible take. IMO, I’m a massive transformers and Godzilla fan and Sonic 3 was better than both of the movies that came from those genres in 2024.

2:22 That’s his problem. Sonic 3, while an incredibly beautiful movie about grief and change, is also deeply rooted in being an amazing threequel. Stone is pulled back into the toxic cycle with Robotnik, but maybe, just maybe, he can be more than the sycophant his boss claimed him as. Sonic has parents, he has brothers, but that doesn’t change the fact that he spent a decade completely alone.

I mean your expecting a man who has clearly chosen to forego any sense of levity and wonderment for a life of ragebaiting and pretending he's so much more enlightened than the rest of us. I mean FFS he started this whole thing off as if spending time with his kids was a burden that had to be carried, are we suprised he had a shit take about this?

I said it before: he has no clue that the movies is based on a game, it's essentially the plot of Sonic Adventures 2. At best he knows the Genesis Sonic Games, at worst he didn't even know he is a game char. But I truly belive he has no clue that games can have a story.

I certainly agree that the movie had a rather convoluted and ultimately weaker story than the original story it was based on (Not to mention, some pretty large plotholes), but saying the film is bad is just not fair

even if he didn't like sonic 3 (i would be surprised if the man has even played any sonic games tbh, and he didn't seem to take much away from it if he can't remember shadow's name or if he keeps calling him the "evil hedgehog"), him using this movie to make a point about how we need "better children's films" is so disingenuous. fine, he didn't like the movie, but who's gonna tell him that several AMAZING animated films with children as a target audience have come out in the past few years? how is anyone going to make the argument that we need "better children's films" when THE WILD ROBOT came out this year?? matt you can just say you didn't like the movie, it doesn't need to be some statement on the film industry, particularly a subset of the film industry you clearly know nothing about, as a whole. not every movie you personally don't like is a symptom of a systemic problem in hollywood. matt walsh having a bad take on something he knows nothing about. another week with seven days in it i guess

I seriously regret to be that guy, but we've gotta admit that the "cosmic blast murder-suicide because life isn't worth living" narrative they went with as a 'safer' deviation from SA2's original story... is still KINDA ridiculous. That, combined with the utter tone whiplash when juxtaposed with the dance routine bit... ya can't exactly deny that the third movie's tone was a bit all over the place.
