Hello, my name Is Mike and I'm from NY. I like to spend my free time working outdoors doing something productive. I've been doing this type of thing for more than a few years now, but it never occurred to me that people would enjoy watching what I do. I do not recommend anyone try this type of work without training as it can become dangerous. Delta P is real and while I don't often find myself in situations where the Delta P is at a dangerous level, I am very aware of the potential danger. Learn more at the link below. Visit the other links to understand more of how groundwater affects structures as well as hidden infrastructures that stop rain from flooding your city. Some may think cleaning a slightly clogged culvert is for nothing but allowing storm water to move away from your city in its designed manor efficiently as possible can and will save property and potentially lives.
Clogged Culvert Holds Back a Massive Amount of Water
Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!
Join me as I clear a partially blocked culvert at a local retention pond. Watch till the end to see the discharge footage full screen! After filming I researched the "metal door" online to find out it's a flood control device called a Flap Gate designed and used as a check valve to keep rising water on one side from backing up into the other. In this case to keep the Hudson River from flowing into the retention pond when high waters are present in the river.

yeah you're back! Miss your videos and this one was really different. Which is why I love your videos.
Cool video
Welcome back, good to see a new video from you, hope you and your family are all well. Retention ponds are a lot more important than many of us realise, keeping the pond outflow clear is essential maintenance for the pond to do its job properly. So easy for these ponds to cause local flooding if not looked after. Excellent video, that outflow compared to inflow is very satisfying to watch.
Well said!
Those ‘backflow preventer’ doors always fascinate me. Nice to see a new video!
I clear our neighborhood ditch's and a small creek. Funny how some of us enjoy the satisfaction or releasing backed up water and getting it to flow as intended !
Great nice to see you back.excellent video.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Glad to see you post again - tks.
I think China and other countries are bringing these invasive species into our country.
Good to see you bud hope your doing well!
Good to have another great video from you

great work as usual. nice video
Appreciate that
Nice to see you back again GYW. Look forward to watching more uploads.
You pointed out the water chestnut being an invasive species...but aren't the carp also an invasive species? Looks like you're living in an environmental disaster area. Bet you have Japanese knotweed growing over there too.
Me living here in Florida so many things arrive and challenge what's native to us. I accept that nature is always changing, some we agree with and some we don't. Currently we're struggling with Lion fish here and years ago we fought water hydrilla. Good news is more "giant" prawn (large shrimp) are showing up and at a foot long and a pound each only takes a few wild caught to feed a family, well !
I only happen to be aware of the Water Chesnut as my brother and I were looking up plants to put in his pond and we seen these one day in another location and used Google Lens to ID and learn about it.
👋
truly great job !!
You needed a bigger rake for bigger jobs
You need a shovel
You gotta get closer to the branch to pull it out
Bring a saw with you next time you come back
Post ten is a joke he doesn't know what he is doing
Where on the Hudson was this?
Call your brothers
Saw it through
What happen it froze up
The headcam is great

This one is part 3 if you will.
Head cam working well
You have to move the dirt out of the river instead of moving it to another place in the river. Later the same problem will occur elsewhere if this method is what you use. You should use an escavator instead of a manual one.
Well done.. fab job.
Oh snap GOt A Spider in my Boot
This is as u do No beavers challenge lol
Good work
At 1:27 of the video you were down to one log across both tunnels with it almost clean and able to move.
looks more like storm blockage and not beaver nice job though
Enjoy your vids
Lazy ass county
Go back to the deep end that's where you got the best water flow
For all the "Chain saw" comments I did return with a chainsaw a few days later. check it out here: th-cam.com/video/PnBYMM0zN6Y/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
Great job but if you use your hands move you won’t over work yourself. With you trying to pull the logs with that tool you over work yourself. Try using your hands more. But great job
You're in an extremely bad position to be in if all that stuff gets unclogged and takes your feet right out from under you. Those logs are way bigger than you and can crush you with the weight
4:26 log looking like a beaver for a moment floating into the dark lol
