- Hello ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!
In today's video I visit the Hudson River culvert and discover a beaver has built a massive dam at the entrance. Watch as I tear it apart and drain the thousands of gallons of water held back. I hope you all enjoy this video.
Some have asked how they could help support the channel, so I made a couple of t-shirt designs as well as a hooded sweatshirt for anyone interested in helping out but also getting something in return.

For all the "Chain saw" comments I did return with a chainsaw a few days later. check it out here: th-cam.com/video/PnBYMM0zN6Y/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
I would think a chain saw would be an asset to you on jobs like this.
I had a summer job in the oil patch in N. Alberta. One of our jobs was to unplug culverts that the beavers had dammed. So being the rookie I had to crawl up the culvert from the down stream side and pull the dam apart. The first branch I pulled caused the whole dam to release. The water flushed me out like a turd in a toilet.
I enjoyed this , but love Post 10. He tells you all about the beavers and trees and the way rivers and wilderness works.
Don’t watch other’s videos and expect them to be clones of Post 10. 🙄🙄🙄
@@shirleyanneyoung955Post 10 actually started a fad. lots of copycats. it's a good work to do like this, volunteer work. but it's dangerous in some cases and Post 10 is OSHA trained. I don't know how many of the copycats are. I doubt very few. but they do it for views. they see how popular Post 10 is and they just want to do the same thing. but if they don't know what they're doing they could get into serious trouble either with the law or physically.
You are committed I have to give you that. Your Community must really appreciate you. Great Work.
this was really fun! thanks for taking us along.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wouldn’t it be easier to just use your hands for something like this?
the rake is like a hand on steroids when ripping into the pile. I use my hands when needed but prefer the rake as I bend over less.
Go and show him!
@@PleasantlyConfused6816I was just asking, no need to get snarky!!
Lol I came to comments to see if anyone asked. Cause those logs big AF for that rake.
Maybe a chainsaw would help
Marvelous to see a small creature building an amazing dam. Nature indeed is mesmerizing and baffling
Dude! You moved mountains there! That is a hellova job you did. Outstanding!
Thank you for sharing and most of all for caring and actually doing your best for clearing our riverways...
Bring a chainsaw next time. Great work!
Absolutely!!!
This gentleman said towards the end of his video that he was exhausted after clearing tons of rubbish stuck in the beaver dam
I would have been out of action for a week after that shift he did
Amazing 🤩 👍
The ingenuity of the beavers is incredible. I liked the way you showed us both sides of the dam, then we as the watcher realise the depth the beavers have built it. Don’t worry about the camera work, for me just watching your determination is camera work enough. Excellent work 🎉🎉
TY!
Can't you use a chainsaw to reduce the larger logs. Unless cut down they will continue to clog the way. We cleared a small blockage this way, and each spring it happens again. You are a hard worker, stay safe.
I thought about a chainsaw, too. But there would go the peacefulness, wildlife and the echo in the culvert would be heard everywhere. It’s a lovely rural area. Would it be allowed?
Spoken like a woman who has never done brush clearing, go bird watch @@carmenmarshall5787
@@carmenmarshall5787 Electric chainsaw.....
Credit him for what he does, not for what he doesn’t. Jeez!
THIS IS JUST SO FASCINATING TO WATCH HOW THIS DAM WAS BUILT AND HOW MUCH HARD WORK FOR YOU TO DISMANTLE, GREAT JOB
Glad you enjoyed it!
I bet every beaver lodge in the area has a “most wanted” picture of you hanging in it!
So please your back..been waiting for this one.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
Hope you like it!
Beautiful area.
Got a good flow going..
BRAVO! Looks great! Amazing!
fantastic job ,having chain hacksaw for cutting big log would have made the job more easier
You need a Superman cape. The city of Hudson should pay you for all of this work if they don’t already! The world functions because of men like you who are willing to get their hands dirty for the greater good. Every time I thought you finished there was another log!😮 I have a cousin who has a home on the Hudson River. Thank you!
Respect and greetings from the Netherlands.
You are a brave and determined dude, that is a daunting task at the least. And that sticky muck on the bottom is very hard to remove because it has branches and rocks in it. Your the man, to stick with it so long. RESPECT!!
You are right, that beaver is a master builder. This was the toughest dam removal I have ever seen.
Yes, and to move those tree trunks into position was ingenious and strong too.
After watching the whole thing, all I can say is AMAZING !!!!!
Wow, that was a marathon! I didn’t think I would watch such a long video but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very peaceful and exciting to see how much you could do. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was a hard days work, good too watch. Well done sir!
All that lovely firewood!
Great job, that’s a lot of work 😊
You are the MAN ....great job ....👏
Thanks 👍
Why is this video so oddly satisfying to watch?
Hello, I'm your subscriber from far away -PORTUGAL.
I could be watching the eclipse live but I really admire your work. I simply prefer to be here, appreciating every gesture you make in favour of nature. Excellent work!
This was an epic clearance, your dedication to clearing this dam has to be applauded. Liking the long videos too.keep on the same path.please everyone drop a like,it takes a second
Much appreciated.
No wst I'm dropping a like on something so poorly planned and executed!!! Damn you must live a boring life to waste 2hrs watching that crap.
man , you are relentless .. so pleased we dont have these dam things in nz.
So, here's me, sitting in Ireland and excited that I am about to walk out to see the Hudson River for the first time in my life. Your videos might have more impact than you imagine! They are also very relaxing to watch. Thank you.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Hope you enjoy it; I'll try to get some better footage instead of blinding you with glare lol
That was amazing work, what a great thing to do for others.
30 years younger, and I would love helping this brother do that. Makes you work!
were there ever beavers there?
beavers can only move logs if there is enough water. it seems to me more like dead wood that was driven at high tide.
good work!
If you look closely throughout the video, there are signs of beavers everywhere. Partially cut trees along the shore, beaver cut sticks in the pile, mud and leaves mixed and placed up high in the dam as well as all the sticks with the bark chewed off. I'm going to order a trail cam and leave it down there to put this debate to rest lol.
God bless you bountifully for unclogging by yourself such enomous debris. It is simply an heroic act. Your family and community must be very very proud of you. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
27:47 The camera got so impatient that it just started to wander away. LOL
Tap the focus at something on the ground or river or in the sky to get rid of the over exposure. 👍❤️💛💚
This was the first video I saw of yours.Still watching now.Keep them coming
Terrific job once again!
Well done , I can't believe how much you accomplished in such a short time ,you deserve a well earned rest !🎉🎉
Thank you!!
Excellent work….just excellent! 😊
Thank you so much 😀
New 2 your channel. Jeff from Lebanon PA and I wanna tell you that you are awesome man and keep making videos. 👍👍🤠🤠🤠
Thank you! Loved the video
Good job ❤🎉😊😊😊😊
Chain Saw or not, you're one hell of a hard worker! God bless you.
You certainly made a lot of hard work for yourself !
The amount of dexterity and stamina needed for the amount of time you did this is amazing!
Great job removing that big complicated beaver dam, some of those logs were huge and heavy. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks for watching!
Your doing a fantastic job, love watching. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much 🤗
Be careful of your back moving those logs. Amazing job. Loved watching ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One the best videos I ever watched. Thank you for sharing 👍👍👍👍👍
Sir, You are a gentle Giant. Thank You 4 ur work
Dear lord, what a fantastic job, a long time ago but still.

Love your Video's
Thank you!
You did a fantastic job, Thank you😀
No problem 😊
Nice haircut😎
Thanks 😅
Stumbled across your channel today. I don't know where along the Hudson you are located but you immediately triggered 65 year old memories of trapping muskrats in the tidal swamps of the Minisceongo Creek which dumped into the Hudson, Thanks!
Welcome aboard!
Stay safe. Nice job you are doing there. Way to go on what you did a lot!!!!
Thank you, I will
Wow, your a hard worker. I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
Thanks 👍
I guess that makes you busier than a beaver! I'm exhausted just watching you! Great job.
I enjoy seeing guys that bust their butts doing necessary jobs that people don't think about really, until a flood! Then the man or woman that did the work gets the recognition (I certainly hope so) plus a good payment! I'm on disability for doing jobs that can LITTERALLY break a person's back so I know how much work this sort of thing REALLY IS! Many thanks to you sir, and to all the folks who, like myself, are willing to do it!
That was a hell of a job!! Kudo's to you for your persistence!!
You may want to add a chain saw to your tool box and save your back. Great job by the way. 😅
You have did a wonderful job cleaning out the beaver dam, it sure looks good now, i hope he don't come back and build it back , be bless.
Awesome job ! I got tired just watching you do all that work !
Thanks 👍
❤Great job
You worked hard, an entertaining video you have provided for us, and all in a good cause, thankyou.
I appreciate that!
Great Work Bud 👍👍Your dedication is fantastic 👍👍You must be worn out well done 😀😀👍👍
Awesome job; awesome video!!! Love watching your channel; always a wonderful job!!! Can't wait to see the next one!!!
Amazing. Truly amazing!!! Bet you were one tired guy that day!!!!
huray ,you got it great job, hard work
It has been mentioned before, but an electric chainsaw with a 30 cm blade could save you a lot of energy and allow the water to help move the mud. The shortened pieces of tree trunk are also much less likely to get stuck again at the end of the culvert. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Hard working man! Good job. 👍👍
Always!
Great job mate.
Thank you! Cheers!
What do I know, but it seems like a chain saw to cut the three or four major logs blocking the culvert would really ease your workload.
I'm sure it would but I did what I could with what I had at the time.
What an incredible damn and your endurance t clear something enormous apart. Your video got recommended as I watch post10. I salute you sir.
It’s amazing the huge logs that beavers can maneuver around!
Excellent…looking forward to more
Nice work my dude!
Thanks for the visit
God bless your for hardworking
Love your videos and i watch several dam breakers videos. Invest in a Wood Ranger mini-chainsaw for smaller 4 inch logs or just circle them to get 8 inches. Do your own search for mini-chainsaws.
Great job man!
Thank you! Cheers!
The longer I watch this, the more satisfying it is. Lol
I can just picture Mike Rowe doing a show on this job.
You helping Mother Nature makes for the best videos on here!!!! Keep up the good work and be careful with those chest high waders. Got a #2 haircut today myself - lol.
Thanks 👍
Love your videos !
Thank you!!
That was a tough one. Good job and don’t get over heated. 😊
I drank 2 bottles of water but it was getting warm with the waders on, so I had to stop and get them off.
Gloves would be a good thing to be wearing. A saw is a must. This is hard work. Very hard work. And it is so often neglected by local governments. They can't do everything and it is great that you are working at this. ...kudos
That dam was massive! What should have been a job for an excavator, you’ve done by hand. When I thought you were almost done, you kept unearthing huge logs. You are awesome!! ❤
This culvert is not accessible by a machine unfortunately and yeah I'm stubborn and do not like leaving this half-finished.
Wow, that dam was much wider and deeper than I expected! The beavers really capitalized on having those trees crossing the culvert. I have to admit I laughed when your camera noped out and started walking back out of the culvert. 😂 Great job on this one! And thanks for checking up on that turtle. I never want creatures to suffer, but what can you do. See you on the next round!
Yeah, I laughed a bit at that when I reviewed the footage during editing.
Lol my head leaned with the camera 😂😂😂😂
He's also very good I like to watch him too Post 10 is the best one.
Great job 👏
Thank you! 😃
You did outstanding!
Your video makes me want to just reach in there and be part of the action: no, move this limb; pull on that; push that downstream. Sheesh!😊
Dude, A come-along, a tree saver, and several long ropes would save your back!
Interesting to watch
Are you going to revisit to remove those huge logs...can you saw them down to size. I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for part two
Wow, you did a great job!
Best one ive seen so far im glad you were smart enough to let the water help you and take all the debris down stream so it just doesnt end up beinmg used again the next day to remake the dam.
I returned after this video with a chainsaw and completed the job. I also returned a few days after that for a follow up video. Its 100% clear and wide open now. Thanks for watching.
