  • Hello ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!
    Today I returned to the culvert from the last video and unclogged the grate as well as fixed up the inlet a bit. We also cleaned up the stream to restore it after it being flooded for a long time. I hope you enjoy the video.
    Please consider subscribing to my channel if you haven't already. It would mean a lot to me.

    Great work! Love the idea of backfilling the grate plunge pool with stones. That will be a great filter point for the stream. You really took a janky repair and made it look great again. That upper culvert had a ton of crayfish too. Nice healthy water, just needed a path to flow. Hope you and your family have a great 4th 🎉

    Wow, I'm impressed by your dedication to this. Looks like the city just put the drain cover in without actually making sure it would be effective. But as I was watching I thought, why not fill that hole with the rocks they filled on top. And sure enough, you had the same idea. Again, that's for the dedication. Your brother has earned himself a beer or two. Stay safe and enjoy the rest over the 4th.

    I really admire and appreciate what you are doing for the environment. I've learned from watching videos like this that flooding does a lot of environmental damage. We are lucky to have someone like you and your brother who care enough to help in solving situations before they get worse and helping to fix situations that are already pretty bad.

      TY, an excavator opened the culvert initially after I reported it to the city however the flooded area upstream of the culvert was very deep mud and the machine would get beached.

    • @Grab_your_Waders
      @Grab_your_Waders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a small chance that may happen however it was a better option that leaving it how it was. The angle is a little deceiving on video where I placed the rocks but I don't think they will easily be pushed in. Time will tell, thanks for watching.

  • @jeffclark2725

  • @mnomadvfx

    Sounds like they need to put in retaining walls to prevent the soil caving in on the culvert.

  • @markroberts5203
    @markroberts5203 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you had a large rain storm where you live within a month or so, I think all the mud and debris that's been cleared to the side may be washed down to the grate. It looks to me that it's been very damp outside of the area you & your brother worked on. Thoughts? Thanks for your time.

    • @Grab_your_Waders

  • @Melissa-pt2ik
    @Melissa-pt2ik ปีที่แล้ว

    That looks like it needed a excavator to dig down there and clean all the tree roots and branches out and made into one ditch instead of two or three streams at least it looked like it had more than one stream that was a lot of work getting the tree limbs and roots out

  • @wynonarburgstiner4667

    By doing what you two are doing you can gradually widen the creek bed and it will deepen as it erodes the mud away. I hope you don't have any heavy storms in the next few weeks so the culvert rack can adjust to having the rocks there as it fills with the right kind of dirt. It would be nice if someone would come and sprinkle wild flower seed along the banks while it is still summer. It would help stabilize the edges a lot and would be pretty. Good Job. 100% better.

    The county of city should really pay you for this and give you a job patrolling all the culverts and create a database of all the locations and their condition and when it they were last cleared.
    But if you are content just doing it a community service, you should be inducted into sainthood :)
