You don't paint the updown floor panels?😢
I googled "best media for wet blasting" and came to your video. I couldn't get black beauty to work with the blaster. Glad I found your video, cause I am headed to Lowes to get the play sand instead. Thx.
I’ll be doing this soon 😂
Thanks for the great video. I am about to pull the windshield to do some body work. I was going to use the 3M Strip Calk, 08578 and appreciate your research! I am doing a 2 lane blacktop tribute and changing my 210 into a 150 and have acquired the windshield and rear light rubber gaskets for the 150 that don't have the grooves for the stainless trims.
Bill, Thanks for all your work on these videos! Love the detail and it will for sure help me get my 56 210 Del Ray that I inherited in parts. Slowly going back together when time and money allows. Also have the support of local Tri Five Club.
Kneeling on that concrete makes my knees sore..2 saw horses and a 4x8 sheet of plywood..problem solved.🙏
Great job Bill!
Great job Bill
I had a lot of broken springs. Must have been a big guy driving mine. Wish I could send you pics.
So much better than mine. Lol . The mice made a hotel out of mine. I had alot of spring damage.
Hi Bill. Following your videos from Melbourne Australia. Really enjoying your videos. I have recently done a similar Ciadella upgrade on my 57 Chev 2 door hardtop. I found the information in the Fisher Body Trim Instruction Manual for 1955 Chevrolet (not to be confused with the 1955 Assembly Manual) on the TriFive Website very helpful, especially where the burlap and hog rings were originally installed. You probably already know about this. Keep up the good work. Cheers Mike
Thanks so much as I am paralleling your restoration. But please save your back and put it up on a work bench!
I’ve got my front and rear benches out. Still need to tear them down but I know I need to and or reinforce the front bench springs. Any suggestions on doing so? Thanks for the videos👍🏼
Sure do! That's going to ge the next episode!
Hey Bill, underneath all that upholstery, looks like the frames are in pretty decent shape, that’s a bonus. Nice to be at this stage of the build, you’ll be cruising in no time! Have a great weekend and thanks for the video!
I have my 56 original rear seat, and a pair of buckets out of a 68 Chevelle for the front. It's all I have ever had in my car. Way back, I had a shop put the 68 Chevelle rear seat cover on the original 56 rear seat so it would match the black bucket seats. Now all are old and rotten, so I have to start over. Still trying to figure out how to clean rust off of seat spring assemblies. Good video Bill. :)
Sure looks great when you start doing wiring and interior--means you are getting closer. Very cool you found the original seat covers and colors. Be interesting to see what you have picked out for her! Thanks!!
Another good one, friend! I kinda like the fact that the original stuff was under there. It’s a bit like a time capsule from almost 70 years ago. I am on the edge of my seat in anticipation of each episode. Endeavor to persevere!
That's something!!! Almost there 😅
My 55 had the same cover on it only in black ... those contours in both the bottoms might be factory ... although don't quote me on it ... see if they are even on both sides ... especialy since the back seat rarely gets used as much ... the factory often used material from other left over rolls for listings ... can't wait to see them covered ...
worse before better .....on your way !
Awesome to be at the upholstery stage. Thanks Bill!
Excited to see this one come together
Those Directions are so true for us Guys 😂😂
For a 4x4 stock height truck, does it help to have the front or back lifted at an angle for installation?
A couple things I would have done. First, use a touch of silicone grease on the fuel fill pipe o-ring so it slips into the tank easily. Second, get the rubber insulation straps from where the tank was purchase. The straps are 1.25" wide so use either that size if available or go with 1-1/2" wide insulation straps. I would also put rubber insulators between the top of the tank and the body and keep them in place with Weldwood contact cement which is superior to the 3M brand. Lastly, instead of double nutting for security, use a nylock nut on each strap bolt. The rubber insulation will only add 1/8" to 1/4" to the location of the tank, longer bolts are not needed.
How did you add the trim piece behind on the A pillar? I did what you did by installing the windshield. I now see there is a trim piece on the A pillar and am afraid I need to take the windshield out. It looks like the video previous to this it was not installed but now it is. Thanks
Wow good information
You are awesome Bill! I definitely will be $$$ ahead learning from you. And, you are not alone. There have plenty of times where I have turned off the lights and went back inside the house after discovering something either has to come back apart or just isn’t going to work. Kudos to you for sticking with it. I like the idea of a bloopers video at the end of her build. And “maybe” do a close-up slow rolling out of the garage video with Bad to the Bone playing in the background. (Think Assembly line scene 😉😉)
I recognize that accent.
"BFE"...haven't heard that in a looong time. Thanks for the laugh!!
It would have been a good idea to put some lithium grease on the tracks where the windows ride. They often get seized and drag wearing flat spots in the rollers.
@@66skate Yes! I did this after I installed them in the door.
Hey Bill, it’s a shame you had to swap out the wiper assembly but guess it’s one of those things you don’t think about. I have the Raingear in my 57 and it fit beautifully although I’m not running a/c but there’s plenty of room under the dash. Thanks for the video and hope you have a great week!
great job , i have 56 and i feel your pain . I had to replace my right quarter panel it is allot of work .😎
I just got a heater core from classic industries for my 57 Belair.... guess what ?? the outlets are too wide for the cover... so I called them and asked--- how do you sell all this crap that don't fit????.... we need USA MANUFACTURING BACK
Outstanding video! Now I know what to expect with my install, Can't wait to see those wipers wiping!!!
When you are all through and got your fine ride back on the road, I hope you give some serious consideration to doing a "final" episode with some 'out takes'. ;) ;) I bet you have some doozys!! :) :)
Great video!! When you were reading the 'destructions' and did not read out loud that line about clearing the fuse block, I thought to myself, "oh no", but it cleared! Thanks goodness! Happy days! :)
The more I watch you install this aftermarket stuff the more I think I'll rejuvenate the stock stuff ... in the last video I said I might be interested in the one you took out but I see it may need a little repair ... lets hope it works good ... bought time to drive it pretty soon ...
Feeling for you on the last few projects. Seems like nothing wants to cooperate. Thx! Hope you are feeling better
Bill, How many hours do you estimate that the wiring project took you to complete?
@@jimmanke4767 wow... I'm betting about 30 to 40.
@ Thank you, I’m thinking about tackling this on my 57 two ten. I think it is safe to say the previous owners didn’t have a PhD in 12V direct current theory. Fubar
Thank you for your knowledge and hard work doing the videos.
Do overs stink !
like 36 !
Can always count on you! LOL!
Always going to be hiccups, but will be worth it in the end. Thanks Bill!
When I went to put in the controller and it banged into the wiper motor, I literally turned the camera off, dropped all my tools, and walked out of the garage without saying anything. It took a few days to gather myself!
@RestoringChristine1956 i hear ya. It can be very frustrating. Takes the fun out of it at times!
@@RestoringChristine1956 - A lesser Man would have given up several times by now!! You have become the Tri 5 Hero! I sure wish there was some way to get these 'aftermarket' companies to compensate you handsomely, because you have made it easier for everyone to install their products!! They owe you big time! Thanks again for your great videos!
I have one of those lights and they are great. Sorry about the wiper system. Beware if it says universal. Lol. Hear you may be getting cold and snow. Have fun Bill.
Another great episode, buddy. Thanks for sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly. There’s always going to be some “challenges” when working on old cars. I appreciate your willingness to share the speed bumps as well as the successes.
Thanks! My progress has slowed down quite a bit because of things like this, but there it is!
I used a rain gear unit as well and I love it.spendy, but high quality
I'm seriously impressed with it. It's definitely a well-designed and sophisticated mechanism, compared to the simplicity of the one I pulled out. But there's no comparison. The Raingear unit is FAR superior.
I venture to bet that that jack does not lift high enough to get the transmission in place.
It does: th-cam.com/video/yeQz8flrPOc/w-d-xo.html
Genuine question here: why a Saginaw instead of a Muncie?
@@stytos because that's what she's always had! It's just a refresh on the existing running gear.
The man is back 😅
