We took a little 350 mile journey across the Smokies into Cherokee NC and then back up through "The Tail of The Dragon". This video only covers The Dragon part. My helmet-mounted GoPro did not capture any audio so there is no commentary for that section of the ride. However, the Insta360 camera and rear-facing GoPro did still capture the sounds of the bikes. Hey buddy, that front view from the 360 was fantastic, felt like I was on the dragon myself; do more of that view.. Is there gonna be a video of the foothills as well? probably my favorite ride when I ride down there.. the sky-way is next (Cherohala) looks like you guys came in on Hwy 28 the moonshiner an awesome ride as well..

    • @LifeInTheGap
      @LifeInTheGap 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks man! I really appreciate the feedback. I'm gonna try to incorporate more of the 360 stuff as I learn the editing on it. You may have noticed in this video there one spot where I did a really quick spin around with the camera. That was totally unintentional. I didn't realize that was in there until I had already uploaded it to TH-cam! I'm hoping to get good enough at it to where it doesn't make anyone dizzy trying to watch! LOL To answer your other questions...On this particular ride we came through Gatlinburg, across the Smokies into Cherokee and then west and up Hwy 28. A lot of construction going on there but wait times were not bad. By the time we got to the Foothills it was about 6 PM and Greg was wanting to hurry and get home so he wouldn't get cold (he has thin blood), therefore I didn't record. (Still didn't get home until about 10 PM!) I do plan to go back in a few weeks though when the leaves are changing (Lord's willing)! Might be flying solo because Greg probably won't go if it's below 80. Sorry for the essay! Thanks again!

    Hey Buddy; My friends & I ride down there from Louisville a few times a year, You can walk right up to the radar ball for the most part; rode my 17' gold-wing up the dirt rode & it was gated, but opened for whatever reason when I was there last. They did have a port-o john outside the gate (thank the maker) Also, there was a BBQ joint in the first town you come to in Virginia that we ate at I do not remember the name but it was good.

      Geez, I figured it would be a little more secure than that! Back about 20 years ago we would ride 4 wheelers from Evarts (Black Mountain Offroad Trails) to the ball but I haven't been that close since probably around 2005. That BBQ joint is in Appalachia, Black Bear BBQ & Grill. Thanks!

      It looked like your bear was just as you started up the mountain from Lynch, right? I have seen several on that mountain but have never seen any on the KY side! I saw on 106.3 FB page the other day that a bear had bit a woman on the foot in Benham!

My opinion only but I feel they are cheating those of us who either can’t afford a bike/trike or have health issues that look at the content of the creators to allow the viewers that sense of riding along.........the only thing missing I guess would be “smell-o-vision “, lol.

    Wow-wee, alot of those home and business sit like right up on the highway eh? I'd be afraid of seeing a car or truck crashing into my house being that close, and the road noice omg! 19:26 ever have problem with bugs flying into your helmet when you have the visor open?

    • @LifeInTheGap
      @LifeInTheGap 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The close proximity to the roads is a common occurrence around here in coal country. I reckon back in the day the miners lived in what they called coal camps with the houses barely having walking room between them and being as close to the road as possible. Also over the years as the roads have been widened from one-lane dirt paths, they have encroached upon any remaining homes from that era. I'm like you though, I would live in fear of a vehicle bursting through the wall into my living room! As for bugs getting into the helmet, I have never had an issue with that on the Goldwing. My windshield is an extra tall Tulsa and nothing gets around it! I do occasionally have some insect remnants blow up from around the forks but they never reach my head! Thanks!
