  • We took a little 350 mile journey across the Smokies into Cherokee NC and then back up through "The Tail of The Dragon". This video only covers The Dragon part.
My helmet-mounted GoPro did not capture any audio so there is no commentary for that section of the ride. However, the Insta360 camera and rear-facing GoPro did still capture the sounds of the bikes.
    Enjoy!

The dam is the one Harrison Ford jumped off of in the movie The Fugitive. The train wreck from the movie is off of Rte. 23 in Dillsboro, NC

Awesome! I didn't know that about the train wreck.
      Thanks!

Hey buddy, that front view from the 360 was fantastic, felt like I was on the dragon myself; do more of that view..
Is there gonna be a video of the foothills as well? probably my favorite ride when I ride down there.. the sky-way is next (Cherohala) looks like you guys came in on Hwy 28 the moonshiner an awesome ride as well..

Thanks man! I really appreciate the feedback.
I'm gonna try to incorporate more of the 360 stuff as I learn the editing on it. You may have noticed in this video there one spot where I did a really quick spin around with the camera. That was totally unintentional. I didn't realize that was in there until I had already uploaded it to TH-cam! I'm hoping to get good enough at it to where it doesn't make anyone dizzy trying to watch! LOL
To answer your other questions...On this particular ride we came through Gatlinburg, across the Smokies into Cherokee and then west and up Hwy 28. A lot of construction going on there but wait times were not bad. By the time we got to the Foothills it was about 6 PM and Greg was wanting to hurry and get home so he wouldn't get cold (he has thin blood), therefore I didn't record. (Still didn't get home until about 10 PM!)
I do plan to go back in a few weeks though when the leaves are changing (Lord's willing)! Might be flying solo because Greg probably won't go if it's below 80.
      Sorry for the essay!
      Thanks again!

This video brings back some fond memories on my Wing. I rode it on 1000 mile trip in July but that was probably my last ride on it. I am told old and weak for that heavy bike so I will have to stick with my Yamaha Road Star. Thanks for another great bike ride video.

Thanks, Jim! Those Wings are rather hefty! My knee buckled a few weeks back and I dropped mine at a STOP sign. No damage, just a little embarrassing! Luckily, I had enough adrenaline to get it back up quickly!
Ride that Road Star! At least you can still ride!
      Take care!

@@LifeInTheGap I'll have to see if I can get it warmed up without burning it. The wife did all the cooking in this house but she's just passed so I'll have to learn how to cook all over again, but maybe I can nuke it.

Very sorry to hear about your wife passing.
I'll have to admit, I'm not a cook either but I can work the microwave pretty good although the amount of time to nuke stuff is trial and error sometimes!
Haven't tried to nuke any Spam yet!

That "Deals Gap" was a friggin' nice area, all those shade trees to kick back under

@homelessnomad101 Yeah, they say it's a "resort" on their signage. Might not dot all the it's nor cross all the t's to qualify as such but it's a nice place.

Can't wait to go back! Maybe in October when we ride to Charlotte, NC for Bikers with boxes

That should be a very nice time to ride it. Not sure when peak leaf viewing is down there but I imagine sometime in October.
