On to Round 2. I really like this premise. I wonder how a third participant would shake up the mix. Getting two sets of tasting notes would, I think, make this somewhat harder.

Wade - great review. Thank you! I am pretty new to whisky and most of the whisky's I've tried and enjoyed are the more sherry, floral, Spreyside styles. I see most the the You-Tube 'experts and experienced' whisky folk tend to gravitate to the peaty / smoky whiskies. Well today I took the plunge and tried the Talisker 10. I'm so happy I did. Smoky nose without being off-putting, superb on the palette, rich, oily, complex, full of subtle flavours of the coast and spice - but no smoke on the palette. Finishing with smoke and warmth from the spice notes and a hint of orange peel. I am sold! I will continue my journey into the dark side of peat and smoke - but gently so. My next treat will be to try the Classic Laddie! Loving the journey so far...

I just got a bottle of Macallan 15 Double Cask for my birthday and it’s on another level than the 12 year one.

They were all from 2023 but three different batch dates the two I got recently. Were from.14/11/23 and that batch is amazing, but I just finished a bottle that was equally I think as good and it was batch date 01/09/23 And I’m sorry to hear how much you have to pay for your whiskey down there. The most I’ve paid is $97 Canadian for the longrow.

I (occasionally) buy Macallan, not as a status symbol, but because they have a unique flavor profile that only comes with a Macallan. Glendronach and Glenallichie 15 are both fantastic, maybe better in some regards, especially price. But at the end of the day it’s not gonna be the same as a Macallan if you like Macallan which I do. And I’m lucky there was a few dusty 15s sitting around for 130usd which I consider a fair price

Nice review! This one will be released here in Sweden in about two week, gonna try to get my hands on a bottle. The price here will be skr749 ($107AUD) in today's currency. To me, that's a fair price for a bottle of good quality whisky from Arran. I've tried quire a few from Arran and I've never been dissapointed, so far.

Behind that huge, imposing front door of Starward is much good whisky-making. I did the tour some years ago and I remain convinced that their fermentation and distillation are top notch. The only bottling I had trouble with was the ginger beer cask one: a real hoot, but totally over the top as a whisky.

Both sensational drams. I only recently did the same comparison recently purely because I was enjoying the 10 so much & wondered how the 15 would compare. A side by side for me revealed why the 15 is another +/-$50-. Is it worth it ? I dont know, but very glad to have them both in my bar.
