Before this starts, my bet is on the Glen dronach 15
I agree all the way with you Wade but in my country, at least locally, these two are about the same price! Oops! My bad! I was looking at current sale prices by mail order in Canada! The Glendronach 15 is $200 and the Macallan 15 is $310 - before taxes! Fabulous 'versus' video!! 🙂I will pick up 2 Glendronachs next time I am making an order! I can't find the Glen Dronach 15 Revival in Vancouver but I can order it from Calgary, Alberta! Cheers!!

Wonderful review and comparison. Due to unrealistically high prices, Macallan is the only whisky I do not collect. That brand is on brink of getting snobby.
I'd argue Macallan has been snobby for a very long time now!

Was interested to see how you went with this. I agreed with your choice with the Tamdhu 15 over the Macallan & I too believe the GD15 wins again but it all depends what you like. I prefer the Tamdhu over the GD15, & will be interested to see your thoughts with these two. The Glenfarclas 15 might be another good comparison, the Speyburn 15, & Fettercairn 16. Probably a few others too.

Excellent conversation and walk through of these two, excellent whiskies. I enjoy the versus format and while it has been a while since I have had either, I love the Glen Dronach 15!

I get your doing sherry finish but Glenfiddich 15 Solera Reserve is an absolute steal compared to either considering price and the bottle that you purchase could very well be aged past 15 years. My experience no bottle tastes exactly the same and I’ve never been disappointed with any. I’ve had Macallan 15 and it is good. I’ve only had Glendronach 12, it was ok I’d probably go with Aberlour 12 over it
I would think the GlenDronach 15 would come out on top, but I have not had the Macallan 15. I have only had 2 Macallan before and they were both the 12 year old. IMO they are average at best so I figured the 15 would be marginally better so I have not picked it up. Great comparison Wade! Cheers!
You are not too far off Peter. The 15 is a nice step up on the Macallan 12, but the price....
Great vs review of two classics as offered in current distillate and formats. Macallan 15 may have it's place in wallets but I agree with the price consideration GD15 is likely a way to go. GD15 around $200CAD and Macallan 15 $250-$300+ CAD......crazy prices for both if you ask me. Cheers!

I love the GD 15, maybe my favorite whisky, when it comes to, can i affort it. But i must say, the glendronach 8 years is a great one.
Interesting! I have never tried the 8, but I dare say the extra 3% ABV over the 12 probably would help it a lot.
Both really tasty whiskies but within the Macallan range I think the 12 double and the 18 sherry are the better offerings. So for me the Glenfarclas would be the choice. Cheers Wade 🥃

The Macallan 12 Double Cask in my market is only 40% ABV vs the 15 at 43% and I definitely think the 15 is better than the 12.... And I have never paid for the 18 to know!
@@McIntyresMalts 😂😂😂 an innocent typo let's say. Yeah the abv situation is bad comparing the 12 to the 15 but honestly for some reason any Macallan 15 I try against the other two, it always feels to be the worst for me.
Yeah man none of my Macallan experiences are me paying for a bottle. They're either samples from friends and tastings conducted by the brand ambassadors.

Did you try them with a few drops of water? In these kind of comprisons it could change the whole game. Great video again👏🏼
Good suggestion! I do this in versus videos with higher strength whiskies, but between 40 - 46% ABV like these whiskies I don't typically add water.
Picked up the Glendronach 15 for $115 AUD + $10 shipping. Knew it was a bargain and snatched it up.
Most places are around $160

I do Miss my Glendronach 18 paid $200 now it’s over $300 unfortunately it’s jumped too much was a fantastic drop also!

@@lightplays2181 you get the Glendronach 15 between 75€ and 100€ in Germany or Netherlands. The 150€ and 180€ range applies for the Glendronach 18. I don't know where in Europe you would pay 150€-180€ for the Glendronach 15.
