  • I don't think I've ever tried a whisky that tastes more Australian than this Archie Rose Heritage Red Gum Cask Single Malt Whisky.
If you could capture the flavour of Australia in a bottle, this would be it.
A world first in cask maturation, and a uniquely Australian Single Malt Whisky.

Terroir is interesting. I like that distilleries try and put their mark on the expressions by trying different things. Unfortunately, it comes at a high cost. Nice job Wade.

Believe it or not this is actually an affordable Australian whisky compared to other expressions from this country. It is an expensive place for a whisky lover my friend! Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks for sharing this whisky with us, Wade. It's not one I have any experience with. Love hearing about different manifestations of terroir influence.

Thank you my friend, yes I know it can be challenging when I review less accessible whiskies, but I have asked Archie Rose to let me know if they are exporting their whiskies, so hopefully I can come back to you soon with an answer.
      Cheers Ethan 🥃

I love trying new things like this! Whether they turn out to be good or bad doesn't matter with these unique whiskies. Yeah great if it tastes good but even if it doesn't, the fact that you've tried something so unique so interesting is reward enough. Chances are I'll never try this whisky but I did enjoy the whole review.
Congratulations on the Single Malt Monthly, already subscribed! Cheers brother 🥃

Hi Wade. I've tried the Goodradigbee Distillers ‘Jarrah Wood Cask’, ‘Ironbark Yellow Cask’, ‘Ironbark Red’, and ‘Tasmanian Blackwood’ single malts. I can't say they were fantastic, partly due to low ABV and a thin youngness. The Archie Rose ‘Red Gum’ sounds better. I'll look out for a pour somewhere or a sample maybe. Cheers.

I have tried Rye Stringybark. I thought it's unique, friends thought it tasted like ointment. Am curious to try this despite the mixed reaction to the previous one.

50-50 is still good odds. I have tried their Red Gum smoked and Stringy Bark smoked and absolutely loved them both for similar reasons of connection to home.

Yes, its expensive for a 2-3 year old, but looks and sounds fantastic! I'm a huge fan of Starward, so would love to try this. Different is good! Any idea if they got any plans to distribute to the UK Wade?

I like the irony of The Castle reference Wayne 😉
It's not always about the age my friend, this tastes remarkable and in a blind NO ONE would be able to tell me this is a 2-3 year old whisky.
At the end of the day we are all chasing the best flavour we can find are we not? Not the oldest whisky 😉

If you know Australian whisky this is not expensive believe it or not 😢
Many of our releases (unless they are the Starward or Morris) are typically $250 for only 500ml, so $219 for 700ml of a globally unique limited edition whisky with a one of a kind flavour profile... it's a fair price.
For context Archie Rose's standard single malt offering is $120 AUD.
      Thanks for checking it out!
