    🤔WolfPack question: I have the Longhorn Limited 2500 4x4. Love your bumper. Q: I have lights down on mine, that when I turn or, go into turns and signal, I have LED factory lights that come one bright and I assume go out or dim once straighten - Do your lights conduct this as setup, or did yours and does it still with the new lights? I'm still likely going to get one, I love the paint match option. Else, I'm stuck with going away from the factory looking, and go AEV black and brawny. I just would really like a real bumper/winch setup with the added guard plates and match well.

    This is a cool build don’t get me wrong, but for those thinking about getting a Four Wheel Camper do NOT put it on a 1/2 ton truck. You need a 2500 or 3500. Good rule of thumb is keep it under 80% of your payload capacity fully loaded. Over that the vehicle will start to perform poorly. Never drive over your payload capacity. The frame is twisting on this build because it’s over payload. There a great podcast with Dave Harrington (founder of AEV) about payload on the Overland Journal Podcast

      @WolfPacOutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @wayned3137 5.29’s are perfect for how I have it set up. I know Nitro will let you ship your 3rd members to them and build it for you, however cost inefficient that may be for most. You should be able to place an order through them then take it to a local shop 👍

    I have both the hard wire and cigarette lighter. The hard wire never worked despite continuity when ohm testing. The cigarette lighter is blew the 15 amp fuse. I put in a 10A and blew instant. I put in a 20A just to test and it is holding up (monitoring the conductors with a FLIR T865) It does help with limited field testing. Haven't yet put it to a real test where signal is 115-120dbm which I occasionally encounter. Not sure why it's blowing fuses. Specs say 4.5A. My interior antenna dangles in front of me in the cabin and the exterior is mounted on a roof rack with a solar panel. I get poor signal inside my cabin unless I hold the phone to the windshield which is not feasible. I have a telescopic mast that takes the antenna up to 12' but not yet tested in that configuration.

    • @WolfPacOutdoors
      @WolfPacOutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For the fuses I believe direct wiring is the best practice for installing, that being said you should also have an on/off switch between the battery and weboost, as to not constantly use battery. I would be curious if you have anything else on your cigarette lighter lines that are drawing unexpected amps causing the overloading. Any haynes manual should tell you exactly what's on each circuit. From my years of direct use I can ensure this system works, and when you pair it with the weboost app it's even better because you can preplan where to park since the app will show you the direction of the nearest cell tower. From my experience the interior transmitter they give you in the box is nearly worthless unless you hold your device against it, and the only way to get around this is to use a desktop transmitter which will give you about a 25' radius of HQ signal boost. That telescoping mast sounds like a good idea!

    • @gwilliams1001
      @gwilliams1001 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WolfPacOutdoors The cig receptacle I was using is in the rear cabin/trunk and dedicated. I didn't install and on off switch because I run a 100amp PV panel which is fed into a dual input renogy dc to dc charger with the other input my alternator. This charges 2 x 69aH (138aH) X2 Power SLA deep cycle house batteries as well as my starter battery when the vehicle is off and the house batts are in float mode. I have realized 3" make a difference as far as the interior antenna. The phone should near touch the antenna as a foot away is useless. I would be interested in what sku# a desktop antenna is and its wave progation pattern as to not interfere. A better interior antenna may be best when the exterior is elevated. The last two months I have been pleased. But do understand I may need other options that can be deployed when neccesary. I have not yet had the need to use the telescopic mast but know I will find myself one day in an area where it may be needed. What desktop antenna you recommend?

    • @WolfPacOutdoors
      @WolfPacOutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the video description I have the desktop antenna I use as well as the other parts you'd need to adapt it to that base. For interference I've found that if I place the interior transmitter 6' vertically below the antenna and 9' horizontally away I have no oscillation. Also the roof acts as a ground plane, which really means the thin sheet of metal mostly keeps the signals on their corresponding sides of the roof.

    (1) get a spray-in bed liner or you'll rust out the bed quickly, (2) might as well bought a Mercedes Sprinter van and have it customized through a vendor than drive this massive HD around. Otherwise, half ton or jeep gladiator would have better or off road popup camper trailer

    • @WolfPacOutdoors
      @WolfPacOutdoors 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ll disagree and here’s why. 1) a sprinter van isn’t built to do hard wheeling. 2) this massive truck has plenty of aftermarket parts built for tough wheeling and has excellent payload capacity which he needed.

    • @WolfPacOutdoors
      @WolfPacOutdoors 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a question I was able to answer this winter when I spent a few months in Colorado. It ended up reaching temps as low as -10, which was more than substantial to freeze the pipes. However, the answer is longer than a text. • @WolfPacOutdoors
      @WolfPacOutdoors 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I perceive a performance increase because of the air ram effect, not sure if there was ever any HP gains... however, I've found that my air filter stays cleaner longer and I explain this by having the air source above the wheel well where dust generally saturates when driving off-road.

    I left the original full mattress and I put a 4-in memory foam on top of it and it takes away the bottoming out and when you're a little off center with your vehicle the memory foam forms to your position and it cradles you reducing that feeling of rolling and a sleeping bag unfolded on top of the memory foam mattress when it's cold the flannel inside is up when it's hot I turned over and the shiny part of the sleeping bag is up works great

    This is a wonderful series that deserves far more views than it has. I appreciate that you showed the emotional toll the stress of the accident caused you. It's not easy being vulnerable to the whole world. So many of these adventure videos skip over anything that goes wrong. Everybody makes mistakes and by showing the consequences, you're helping people avoid them on their own adventures. For anyone considering a similar solo adventure way off the beaten path, two points to consider are to carry a satellite communicator like a InReach or Zoleo and to slow down when you're carrying big loads. You can't drive like a Trophy Truck when you're carrying a 2000lbs camper. Thanks again for sharing your adventure and I'm glad you finally made it home safely.

      When I passed the area in January of 23’ it wasn’t too crazy, but if it has been further washed away from hurricane Hilary it could be sketchy. As you probably know it’ll be easer to take it on going uphill but if you find yourself going down you’d probably be able to “berm it” around that section.

      Thanks sis 🙏 that one sure was a wild ride! A little TMI for ya, the smell of urine and egg whites stayed in the truck until I replaced every bit of the cooling system and rebuild the motor 🤣 after pulling the heads off, I was washing out year old eggs before putting it all back together 😵‍💫 Thanks for watching 🤙

    Great series. I’d love to hear how you feel the F150 compares to the Tundra sometime. Both seem very capable.

      Thanks Sonny, creating the content solo is quite laborious but totally worth it👍 it’s hard to believe this all started over 20 years ago with a ford ranger I built and explored Hawaii with.

    Is this the same truck that got cratered in DVNP?

    Love your build. Glad to see it back on the road after the incident in DVNP. I have a 2019 Tundra Double Cab and add things to my project list every time you post a video. Thanks for all the inspiration.

      Thanks Bennett 🤙 since DVNP I’ve added a few bits to it, so it seemed right to put a new video out. Next thing on my list is replacing the seals on the rear locker 😅 thanks again for all your support 🙏

      no doubt... don't think you can do this with any car or truck... after I went across another fella tried it in a dodge 1500 extra cab and got pushed 10+ feet by the force of water against his truck, no bs I thought he was cooked when it started happening.

    Thanks for a video packed with useful information. Does your 4WC have the stock AC/12v fridge? I'm wondering if I could easily plug it into a 12V source like a Lithium/solar battery if the coach battery dies, without turning the inverter on--does the fridge have a cigarette-lighter style cord, and can it be made accessible without pulling out the fridge? Thanks again for a video with a great signal to noise ratio!

      Hey Tyrion, Thanks for the questions. The fridge is (I believe) the 86L 120AC/12DC and its stock. As for easily plugging it in, no. It's wired directly to a fuse panel which is then relayed to the main batteries. Your best bet would be to have lithium as your house batteries and use something like a redarc manager 30 with solar inputs to keep things topped off when remote camping. Although there are many ways to skin this cat that's my .02. Possibly you could splice into the wires from the back of the fridge and install a pigtail with a 12v plug or somewhere between the fridge and the fuse block. But if you were to do that you'd want to make sure that you aren't backfeeding the entire system unintentionally. That would be done by turning the fridge fuse off when on backup power. Austin
