Update on Bark River Bravo 1 LT Magna-cut.
มุมมอง 9995 หลายเดือนก่อน
I talk about my Bravo 1 LT Magna-cut knives after over 1 year of use. I also compare this steel to 3V. As far as design, I think Bark River is one of the best. If you can get a well made Bark River in a good steel, you will have an excellent knife. Bravo 1LT is still one of my favorite knives. © 2024 Mountain Life

@@JP-sv6pp You're welcome.
Spent 10 years in AK! Loved it, just too expensive to retire there! Ha! Great short! Enjoy your time there!
Alaska! Awesome! Enjoy your trip. 👍🏻
@@kanukkarhu I am enjoying it. Beautiful country and the temperature is nice this time of year.
Thank you sir. Do you mind telling us what brake pads you got?
The brake pads I used are Import Direct. I got them at O'Reilly Auto Parts.
Much drama queen playacting going on in the knife "community" these days...
CPM3v is like a jeans and leather jacket never gets old.
Brutal
Any wife that says that is a keeper. Sweet music to my ears
@@poeticknife We just celebrated our 31 year anniversary. She bought me an LT Wright knife as a gift. They only had one of that knife model or she would have bought me two of them. I think I'll keep her.
Congrats on the new blade! It looks like a great little hunting/woods knife. Man, it would be so nice to be able to go to any knife store, let alone one that stocked LT Wright knives. By the time i order one from the US, I'm paying probably double, with exchange and shipping. Nice knife, great video.
@@kanukkarhu Thanks. Since this knife is new I haven't had much experience with it but I'm sure I'll find out the best job for it. I do enjoy being able to look at a knife before I buy it. This has saved me from buying a few that looked good online, but just didn't do it for me when I got them in my hand. I haven't made as many videos lately because I've been busy with work, but I hope to keep them coming. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Very nice LT Wright, after the horrible Bark River Squad Leader II I just received with machining gouge marks all over the fuller, I’m buying more LT Wright knives! I’ve never seen or heard anyone getting a poorly made LT Wright knife! This was the 4th bad BRK in 22 months, no more! BRK is going down fast! Really nice review! Thanks!
I agree about Bark River. I've got 13 of them, and most of them have something that's not perfect. I've reviewed them and shown the issues each has. Some of them have horrible fit and finish. I stuck with them as long as I could because of their many designs and handle materials, but have not bought a Bark River in a couple of years. The worst problem I have on any LT Wright is just the sharpened spine. That is mostly a preference. All of LT's grinds are good and fit and finish excellent. I only have five, but they are all excellent. Good luck getting five Bark River knives that are excellent. You'd probably have to buy 30 to get five with the fit and finish of my LT Wright Knives.
@@MountainLife1 Me too, I have about 15 of them, wish I could send you a pic of this horrible blade, I have the Shemanese and Outback’s, love them! You do such good reviews, really appreciate your knowledge and experience, I learn something new all the time from your channel! 👍
Nice, Sure would be cool to have a SMKW near ya. To actually hold a blade before buying them would be so nice. I gotta get an LT and BRK knife before the end of the world 😉 I've been more into buying blanks and building my own handles lately. I just built a couple knives using those Amazon Flissa Scandi knives . They are D2 and with my new handles they feel like legit custom blades . It's my poor man's LT 😂
@@airiksknifereviews9548 I've been watching your knife handle building videos, and you have inspired me to try a project. I live near Horace Kephart's grave, but do not own a Kephart knife. I have some black walnut from my own place that I am drying in the attic to make a handle and make my own Kephart knife. I just need to decide on a blade blank. I saw yours, but I don't know much about 80crv2 or if it's good. This project will probably take awhile, because I stay busy with work. It is nice to live close enough to go over to SMKW anytime I want to, unless the road over the mountain is closed.
Hey Brother, stick with LT Wrights, BRK is going down hill fast, just bought a Squad Leader II last week and it was horrible , had gouges and machine marks all through the fuller, about 20 others online had the same issue. I emailed them last Wednesday and still no reply from BRK Warranty. There is no way those knives were boxed up without seeing these hideous defects in their work! Worst I’ve ever seen!
@@JonJon-ey8ns I have only tried to email Bark River one time, and they never responded. I know they are supposed to have an excellent warranty, but who wants to keep sending every other knife back. They should just make knives with excellent fit and finish from the start, and not rely on warranty work for those who want perfect knives. Good luck with your future knife purchases.
@JonJon-ey8ns Wow, that usually means a company is going under. I'm willing to bet sales are not good right now, people are maxed out. I'm guessing 95% of their sales are from credit cards .
@@airiksknifereviews9548 it’s so bad and frustrating, if you could see how bad this fuller is, you would say there is no way it was inspected before it left BRK! A blind man could see this! I will NEVER buy another BRK!
Beautiful collection! Great review, you have excellent taste in knives! Love those style sheaths too, their newer sheaths are not as good, do not like them compared to the older style that you have. 👍
@@JonJon-ey8ns Thanks for the compliment. Yes, I agree on the sheaths. That seems like one area where Bark River has gone cheaper since I started buying them. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Just did this job including rotors today, it’s not too bad. I have the Autel scanner to retract the brakes through the computer and it works well.
@@boxysquare That's the first I've heard of an Autel scanner, but I knew the dealer and professional shops would have a way to retract them. I just did it the way I did, because I think most people will have access to a couple of wires and a 12 volt source. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great review! Thanks!
@@JonJon-ey8ns You're welcome.
The 10 inch Mountain Extreme works great for hiking. It's preference of course, but I actually wear the non inulsated Mountain Extremes for hiking/back packing. I did a 20 mile trek around the San Francisco mountain range north of Flagstaff Arizona in these boots yesterday. I was in a very rugged alpine terrain on portions of the Weatherford trail and had to travel through many miles of overgrown trail with dozens of fallen trees on it. There was a terrible fire 2 years ago, that's why it is currently in this condition. Anyway, I wouldn't have wanted normal hiking boots. These are much better.
Thanks dealer was gonna charge me $169 to replace it..its ridiculous!!
@@joes5528 Glad I could help. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Joh 3: 16 Amen
I dont care how well another can sharpen knives, for me every man has to sharpen their own knives.
Definitely not magnacut
The knife goes into the sheath further.
Good video but I have some advice if your interested. Put the ferry rod into the birds nest and scrape it with the spine of the knife to get your sparks going. Don’t use the blade useless you really want to dull it and mess it up.
Would the Bravo 1 lt rampless be a good hunting skinning knife and camp chore knife? Thank you.
@@bushwalker2673 It is excellent for all these tasks. I have used the Bravo 1LT for skinning and processing deer, worked up all types of fruits and vegetables in the kitchen, and processed kindling for fires. It's just the right size, and the handles are excellent.
my original one in 3V is excellent for all of the above! the length and balance is so nimble along with the high convex that I actually prefer it over some of my kitchen knives for food prep. if you're carving a turkey or duck for the first time, the nimble length lets you control the blade much easier than the classic 6" carvers
@@thefishinglor6931 I have 2 Bravo 1LT in 3V, 2 in Magna-Cut, as well as 3 Bravo 1.5LT in 3V. Sometimes I like the longer Bravo 1.5LT for work where I need blade length. This would be cutting a watermelon, slicing large steaks, or anything where the reach of the blade length is better. Otherwise, the regular Bravo 1LT is the best size. It's way better for carrying and for hunting tasks. 3V is my favorite steel in Bark River.
I can't believe the barkriver. They put the wrong label on the knife and the qc is a mess. Just because they sell magnacut, we don't know if it's real magnacut
Lol! We have the identical twin to that fella!! Little rascal! 😆
👍
I also grow my own cats 😂
I agree with you about the metal fasteners.
Is that the respawn point of the cat distribution system?
🤣🤣🤣
I believe 14c28n when heat treated properly is just as good as these expensive steels. I personally believe super steels are just marketing. 3v ive had really didn't have the retention everyone raved about. I haven't tried magnacut but it doesn't do anything for me. I prefer carbon steel and 14c28n does very well for a 1/3 of the price.
I've actually been using AEB-L the most lately, which is very similar to 14C28N. I haven't tested the edge retention, but it has been performing well. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What a cutie 🥰, but I think it's breathing heavily, is it normal?
Catmint. As one of the exotic perennials of the flower world, catmint (Nepeta cataria) is very versatile and easy to grow

Cats. You gotta love 'em. They find the silliest places to plunk themselves down...
Yeah, I just walked outside and that cat was in the flower pot. I didn't prompt it to get in there. I guess that's just an elevated place and the flower pot fit its body.
Hehe the seed sure got in there on its own..and then you got this thing! Interesting...is it something like the tartarian vegetable lamb??
I love cats😂
definitely some kind of fungus
If i fits i sits
Well, you put a pot of just the right size out there.... 'If I fits, I sits' 😂
Maybe it will grow more if you water it
Looks similar to cat nip.
A work of art!!
