Got a week off and happened to see this video this morning while drinking my morning coffee... Interesting topic. I have those same ceramic sticks. I leave mine in the kitchen for touching up my kitchen knives. I also use them on other blades - mostly my folders and kitchen knives. I strop lots too, but also have a Worksharp adustable type sharpener (and their field sharpener) that I use to re-profile blades etc. Your system seems to work great too. I have so many knives that i like to use that not many of them ever get too dull, so I am always only touching up too. As far as micarta handles go, I think the white stuff is the fibres of the micara material being exposed through handling - kinda like fibre glass pokes through in spots. But that's just my guess. I know that the natural oils on your hands should darken up and patina that handle. Some guys oil them up. If you polished them, they might go darker too, I suspect. Love that knife (Shaman). They're always sold out when I look and the weak Canadian dollar also makes it a little pricey for me right now... But I'll own one some day! Good video. Thanks for sharing your ideas. 👍
Thanks for always watching, and for the advice on getting LT Wright knives. I seem to use the ones I have for almost every task now. I might try to oil my micarta handles and see how it goes. I'm just not sure what type of oil to try. I hope you have a good week off.
Good info. Thanks for posting it.
You're welcome.Thanks for watching.
