Kove 800
In this scenario of 3 options, the only one I wouldn't choose is KTM due to the problems with camshaft
Great review. Thank you!
Ill still take the KTM any day
great vid man loving your content well done
Cheers, glad you're enjoying it!
900 is a great bike but filling it up every 250km and having empty tank light every 200km was not ok for me. So I sold it.
890 is a dessert race bike. T7 proper adventure bike as it's been pretty obv shown by many riders and the bmw is just a show bike. I'd just use that one for normal street riding and small trips and once a while a backroad
Would be good to see this test repeated ridden as ADV bikes instead of enduros ie fully loaded with gear as that's the main purpose of an ADV. I did a very similar track on my T7 in the weekend, deep into the bush solo so had all my camping gear plus tools spare tubes ,pump, drone, charging gear etc. The weight changes your riding style and what you ask of the bike so it may alter the results. Would love to try the BMW, have done 1800km on a KTM890 and just didn't gel with the bike , the T7 has some shortfalls but I'm pretty happy with it so far.
Bmw missed the mark with the fuel tank... such a shame. The 900 adventure is doesn't have the good suspension......
Nice video. Out of this group, I believe only the T7 comes close to the off road prowess of the Aprilia Tuareg 660, but doesn't beat it. And doesn't even compete on pavement. Id be curious to see how the rest of these compare to the Tuareg on pavement. I still think the Tuareg is the best all around, at least at the moment. It's definitely good to see competition heating up in the middleweight adventure segment. Can't wait to see what's next.
In theory the Tuareg should be great but you just never see them in the bush or being pushed hard, I think they are prefered by riders who do mostly road and some light offroad.
Is there an Aorilia dealer in Wyoming for all the bitcoin riche?
@@Porsche996driver There are no Aprilia dealers in Wyoming. I usually perform my own service on all my bikes. However, there are at least a few 'bitcoin billionaires' along with other rich people with property in Wyoming (some are decent, some not), and at least a few 'crypto corrupted' politicians to go along with them, which artificially increases the cost of living for the rest of us here, although it's still much better to live here than Colorado.
I'd encourage every potential purchaser to ride the beemer yourself. I found it top heavy and the steering geometry is way too lazy. The front pushes in turns and it runs wide. I'd honestly prefer the old F800gs. It's lighter and has a way lower centre of gravity as well as over 2 degrees less head angle which makes it steer really well. I had an XR900. Same frame and motor. It steered like a shopping trolley too.
Can't beat the sound of that tenere though. Just rumbles on past
The BMW motor is made in China while they ask premium price for it. No thanks.
T7 as the only one with proper offroad tyres...not good comparison there.
when you say 'buy a bike' do you hear how you say them both the same?
End times happened already. Matthew 16 and 24 says it clearly. 70AD!
Both the KTM and The Yamaha has seat heights that are out of reach for shorter riders which is where the BMW comes in for me and where I ride the fuel range is less of a problem.
Good luck spending top dollar on an essentially Chinese bike like the BMW.
It should have been a Tiger 900 and not the T7 sorry. It isn’t even close to comparison to the mid size leaders.
What data do you base your statement on?
The Tiger 900's wet weight is 220kg, and it produces 106 HP. (It is 17 kg heavier than the T7.) Are you sure it should be in this off-road comparison?
Went for a ride today (on my newish 450 MT) and was thinking that DK hadn't put out a video in a little while! And then, there it is. Interesting comparison video. I like the T7 and the GS!
Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you're having fun on the 450 MT.
BMW fuel tank is way too small.
Great stuff, Dan, very informative!
thanks Josh
Wish the Tiger Rally Pro was included 🤘🏽🍻
Great review lads 👍
Thanks, appreciate the feedback 👍
Of course 70-odd hp I'd plenty off-road, but it's not enough on road. It means I'd need another bike for the road.
The Tuareg is only 80hp and does great on the road.
@beags1979 This depends on your pace. I agree that the Tuareg is a very good bike, and the price is excellent. I wish it was a 900, but nothing can be done about the higher CoG that feels way higher than the KTM 890. I rode to my Tuareg test ride on a KTM 890, so was able to compare them back to back. There is no comparison.
I would pick the 690. :D Great way to compare! Thanks! Would like to hear your thoughts about the 690 in comparison.
I was surprised it only has 14.5 ltr tank, sounds like its very similar to the desert x or ktm 1090
1090 has 23 litres
Great video Dan, those tracks are wild. The bikes just ate them up.
BMW should offer a 20l tank option on the GS. Its plastic and can't be too hard to do. The GSA is a very heavy bike.
Agreed. I'm not sure why other manufactures don't just copy what KTM did. It's a great idea that should be implemented into more motorcycles. 4 gallons, or 180 mile range. Isn't enough.
Yes, I’m currently looking at the F900GS, T7 World Rally and Ducati Desert X, all because the dealers are close by. The big downside to the BMW is the tank range, a 20ltr tank would make it perfect for me.
I test rode the 900 GSA today and it was great! Felt light and more like 115hp!
Good review. I put a Power Commander 6 and a Rottweiler air intake on mine.
And the aftermarket fuel cap.
Hello from Argentina Nice Video, thanks for sharing. Already subscribed.
Gracias! Welcome aboard.
Dan, how do pack your food. Especially a steak?
Great breakdown of your gear and video incorporated 👊
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great set up really useful
Glad you liked it
Hey Dk, do you wish to share a gpx file on that ride?
Just to diverse a tad 😃I know you have done a vid with the camping gear, but what do you use for a possible puncture repair, air wise? Bottles or mini compressor, and if a compressor, what type?
What about a packable shovel?…..how do you create a lettrine? 😮
How about a perimeter alarm? No?
Not in North America, so definitely not required.
Bit late to comment but this build inspired me to buy a 21 690, it was a fair outlay, 4k on the clock but with a few extras, BRP Clamps, scotts damper, factory screen, fresh 606s (worn out now) , rear rack, Rade Aux tank, sidestand foot, balanced wheels, Power parts comfort seat (surprisingly good), and Power parts bash plate(too thin) etc. Will be a while till i can get it to this level of aftermarket refinement, its an expensive journey to get the bike totally sorted but i think its worth it if you are committed to keeping the bike long term. Following mods in the future for me, Wings exhaust, full Krooze tune meal deal with Xtrig adjuster, luggage/camping gear, molecule skidplate, Rallz rear and Dual Venture front and other protection like ABS covers etc. Definitely will try the 14t sprocket, will be the ultimate hill climber! The only high country trip i have done on the bike was Bairnsdale to Omeo, some singletrack and steep hillclimbs, the bike performed above my expectation. The traction control is incredible in Map 2 for hill climbs, keeps you moving forward without busting sideways. Also had a remap by Yuri, well worth it. If you happen to see my comment Dan, what Rack did you go with and what bags are you using with it?
Nice and very informative video. What is the weight of the bike now with mods, except for luggage? Cheers
Hi Dan, which suspension company did you go with and how would describe the benefits? I have a 21 690 and find the suspension pretty harsh.
Brilliant
Great video mate, really helpful commentary. I've been thinking of getting an adventure bike and have been watching all the epic transcontinental trips. It's good to see there's some nice riding close to home, even if you have to pick your lines carefully to avoid being swallowed up
Hi. Can I ask what tyre pressures your running off road on your 701 (with luggage)? Many thanks, Steve A
Hi Steve, in the front around 18/20psi on the rallz motoz. The rear is around the same. If I’m struggling for grip I’ll drop them a bit more.
G'day Mate, With the Wings Exhaust & smaller airbox with the Rade Garage fuel tank, did you need a ECU remap?
You can get away with it, but if you want to feel the LC4 without the euro 5 restrictions. I would definitely recommend one. I did an ecu remap recently and it made a massive difference to the bike. yuri mechanical in QLD was my go to.
Thanks Mate, I pick up my 2024 tomorrow
Güzel günlerde keyifle sürün
Great videos mate. Really enjoyed trip and looking forward to doing the same when the weather gets a bit warmer.
Nice tracks and ride! What tires are you using?
Thanks, motoz rallz front and back.
Epic ride Dan. That burger must have been amazing!
Great trails and video. Would like to tackles these tracks, what app do you use to plan your trips or is it local knowledge? Cheers
Thanks mate, I have a few different methods when planning a trip in the high country. You need a mapping system that has detailed contour lines so you can gauge the steepness. Gaia GPS is great because you can use it as a desktop as well as the app on the trail. Other place to do research is TH-cam, plenty of 4wd travel on the tracks and give good updates on the condition.
Don’t the pots and pans in the fire get covered with a heavy layer of black soot?
