    Great vid! Something I loved about Publisher was the ability to switch between Publisher, Photo and Designer personas if you have all 3 apps. It streamlines workflow and makes editing various parts of the doc so easy. There's a bit of a learning curve with Publisher, it hasn't taken too long to get back up to speed after ditching adobe.

    The Affinity Suite is awesome. Just get it. It’s a no brainer for the price of the Universal license. - A huge problem is the replacement of LrC. Haven’t found a solution yet. Waiting for Affinity releasing a DDAM (Developer and Digital Assest Management). C1 is meanwhile also subscription and ACDsee on my Mac (M3 MBA 24 GB RAM) is slow. DxO PureRAW can’t yet deal with Sony 1M2 raw files (I tested only lossless compressed large). Didn’t test it yet with Sony raw files from the 3M9.

    Fusion not as powerful as After Effects unfortunately. I used both but not alternative for After Effects as of now. AE has more powerful features in easy way. Interesting take but Affinity Designer is NOT a great alternative to Illustrator, and not because it lacks image trace but because it’s not really a true vector application at all and it struggles with (or lacks altogether) even the most basic vector features. If you want a promising vector app that is actually an alternative to Illustrator try VectorStyler.

    I dumped adobe a few years back and tried the affinity suite. It was a bit of a learning curve initially, but the myriad of tutorials on this channel and on you tube made the transition easier. Last year affinity had a sale and I got the universal suite for $150 AUD. What a bargain. The only feature I really miss is vector trace, but I use Inkscape for that and import the trace back into affinity designer. Recently I had to use photoshop again and have nearly forgotten how to use it! I so dont miss adobe's bloated products. I also have daVinci resolve. For data base management I'm also a fan of ACDSee. Darktable is great. It's a little unstable (version 5 at least), but the algorithms are much better than other programs, and it's quite fast. It doesn't support all cameras, though, or not fully. For example, it's not possible to get the same results as NX Studio (which is also free) with a mirrorless Nikon, so it's sometimes difficult to get the same colours. There's RawTherapee, too, but I don't know it much.

    I too recently weaned myself off of Lightroom and Photoshop. Affinity Photo is a great replacement for PS. Replacing LR was more difficult. I spent a lot of time trying to get the hang of Darktable, but never really got there. I went with ACDSee Studio Ultimate 2024 as my replacement for LR. It works pretty well for developing Raw photos and even can replace PS for some functions. The biggest disappointment with ACDSee is moving a developed image to Affinity Photo. You have to export as a TIFF or PNG (or other format), then go into Affinity Photo to make further (layer based) edits. The good part is you can save the transition file (the TIFF or PNG) to the same folder as the original RAW and when it pops up in ACDSee you can open directly into Affinity Photo or even Drag & Drop it into Affinity Photo if it is already open.

    • @NobieTube12
      @NobieTube12 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I don't do that much photo work, and it's been years since I last touched Lightroom - but I use AP almost daily otherwise. Purely out of curiosity and thirst for understanding, what features are you missing from LR that AP's Develop persona still lacks?

    • @jefftitus9869
      @jefftitus9869 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@NobieTube12 The AI masking functions in LR are fantastic but not so much in AP. Tethering is missing, but PS doesn't have that either. I found a way to tether in ACDSee using the Canon remote shooter program that is free. I have not found a way to automatically apply presets as photos come in so I have limited the transfer to JPGs that look a lot better on import than an undeveloped Raw. AP is not (and does not claim to be an image organizer) so that is more of an issue for replacing LR with AP. If you only shoot a limited number of photos at a time, this is not likely to be a concern. Overall, I find the LR interface better than either ACDSee or AP for developing RAW photos, but that may be familiarity with LR (been using it since version 2). I think LR is better (profiles, perspective fixing, etc.) than AP, but I gave up on LR and am not looking back. As far as I can tell my LR catalog is still working for organization of photos, but developing is now locked.
