As an ambitious amateur composer of classical music, jazz and some funny music creations I have been experimenting with high-quality virtual sounds - from solo piano to jazz combos to large film orchestra. Often combined with a lovely touch of humor. Since the release of MuseScore 4 I'm concentrating on orchestral compositions using the really good playback with MuseSound.

Award Winner! Concertant rhapsody for mandolin and orchestra
With this piece for mandolin and symphony orchestra I won the special price of the Humperdinckfreunde Siegburg e. V. It's one of the very few compositions for mandolin and a whole symphony orchestra and the main difficulty here was to give the little mandolin a chance to prevail against the orchestra. Write to the comments if you like my work!
Starting 2024 with a Piano Concert - 1st Movement
Happy new year and thank you all for waiting so long! Finally the 1st movement of my 1st piano concert is out! MuseScore 4.2 has a lot of bugfixing - in this case the piece especially benefits from improving the playback of piano pedal. And of course all you can hear directly comes out of MuseScore with the MuseSound playback engine! Let me know if you like the composition don't be shy to give ...
Wait for the quadruple timpani! - Symphony No. 1 "Elements" 4th Movement "Fire"

The 4th movement of my first symphony. My intention is to write a symphony in four movements, in which each movement represents one of the four elements earth, air, water and fire. This is why I gave the symphony the additional name "Elements". The piece should describe the elements character and nature like a symphonic poem. This is the 4th and final movement and represents the element "fire"....

Maybe the best Happy Birthday Fugue?
I know there are a lot versions in here, but I had to. The main difficulty to write a fugue over the "Happy Birthday" theme in my opinion is the octave jump in bar 4/5. But I'm quite satisfied with the result. What do you think? Tell me in the comments!
Symphonic Fantasy - What does MuseScore 4 sound like?
Let's test MuseScore 4 and MuseSound with a full orchestra! I composed an orchestral piece to get common with MuseScore 4 and test its playback quality with MuseSound. The result is pretty good - the composition as well as the playback. Always in mind that MuseScore is totaly free! Please comment and tell how you like it!
If Layla was the theme of an epic movie ... this is how it sounds like!
The theme of the German party song "Layla" converted to an epic movie score. Unfortunately the theme of the verse doesn't offer many opportunities of musical processing, so I composed a lovely counterpoint, which shall get the piece more shiny. Please comment if you like it. Can you hear the movie themes? (Christmas Medley)

Everyone knows Christmas songs like "Joy to the world", "Jingle Bells" or "Little Drummer Boy". There are also countless versions and medleys. Here, however, very well-known and famous film soundtracks (partly at the same time) are included; such as "Harry Potter", "Indiana Jones" , "Pirates of the Caribbean" and much more. Enjoy and laugh at the bizarre combination. Have fun and a happy, humor...

It's a midi orchestration set in cubase and the sounds of the special editions from the Vienna Symphic Library. Like many of my music this orchestral composition of Pink Fluffy Unicorns contains a well hidden joke. Can you here the Imp...
This is great! You must've spent so long on this! I do have some critiques as a string player. I'm saying these and saying I'm a better composer, far from that, but rather about the playability of some of the notes. The slurs in the section at measure 40 could be broken up because we only have so little bow 😅. Also, as a cello player, I think that at measure 50-something, they should change clefs to tenor (or treble) because there are so many ledger lines, and it would be a nightmare to read.
Thank you very much for your comment! I've already improved my sluring in the newer compositions. Thank you for this advice!
“Symphonic Fantasy” this name is wonderful for this song. And as a bassoon player so happy can heard my instrument had so many solo.
Nice to hear that you like it!
That's the sound im looking for, do you use any plugins? if not, what are you using? (like, this is not MS)
All what you hear is MuseSounds! The trick to make it sound bigger is to panel every single instrument like in a real orchestra and add a global reverb!
How can I get in contact with you? Impressive creative work!
Thanks for your comment! What would be your intention to come in contact?
this is truly incredible! it really put the picture of "earth" in my head lol
That's what I intended! Nice to hear that it triggered exactly that in you!
Nice piece!
Thanks!
How lovely and lighthearted after the 3:00 minute mark. What imo should be avoided is melodies like 3:52, it sounds like average film music. But your piece is an incredible achievement.
Thanks a lot!
searched up my first piano concerto on yt because im planning on trying to write my first... this is INSANE props to you man i mean this is incredible... how long did it take you to complete the first movement? and the way the piano first begins oh my.. i might have to use that idea hahahaa
Thank you very much! The first movement took about two month I think.
FUCKING AWESOME
Many thanks!
Mucho lio y toda horrible, no vi nada mas desastroso y desorganizado en mi vida
I genuinely cry right now.
For joy I hope... ;-)
I'm back :) even though I never made *my* Symphony 1 because I thought the melody was bad, I have some works I am making. So happy composing!
People who have money and time on their hands to become instant composers using computer softwear. All they lack is talent. Try writing on manuscript paper; it might yield much better results.
The fact that now you can hear an orchestra right on your desk doesn't mean anything, composition will continue to be difficult for composers so it didn't change much on this aspect.
Oh my gosh! That was just mindblowingly awesome! I've just only begun touching musescore and it's pieces like this that show me how much can be done. Is there any way to get parts of this score so I can dissect it and learn how to construct orchestrations myself?
I'm glad to hear that you like my piece. Unfortunately I have negative experiences with sharing scores, so I won't do this again. I know that analysing scores is the best way to learn but there are people who do horrible things with scores.
@@michaellyndee No problem, I totally understand. You don't want to see your blood, sweat and tears misused by some thug. Perhaps you know of some piece with a range of instruments and loads of dynamics to download that I can study and help me get going?
I only really understood orchestration since I had studied scores from Rachmaninov. That doesn't mean that other composers had less skills, but I've seen Rachmaninov as more complex so I had to analize harder to understand. The Symphonic Fantasy originally was planed to be a practice piece on the new insights...
Are this still the MuseSound Sounds? They sound so unfamiliar.
Yes it's all Musesound and the right amount of reverb.
Magnificent. I would love, love to hear this live one day.
Me too! ;-)
Wow, I loovve itt 😊😊
Thanks!
That's a very interesting! The theme presented in the woodwinds really does resemble the second movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, including its ethereal atmosphere.
I like the russian romantic composers very much!
You're a master of composing!!!!!
Thanks! I'm glad to hear that!
Amazing!
This is too beautiful to be unheard-of 😢
Thanks!
me gustaria tenerla, bella obra.
Muchas gracias!
Woah, how did you do that rubato at 1:10? Also, this one is really legit. Apart from the slightly unnatural instrument tones, I wouldn't be surprised if this was played on Classic FM.
Thank you for your comment! Just add a lot of hidden tempo marks ;-)
Sounds like something straight out of a Tchaikovsky ballet overture
Thank you very much. Actually I was more inspired by Rachmaninov.
This is breathtaking. There were moments when I thought it sounded very Brahms-like, but your composition style is very unique. I wish you luck on your journey, and hope you are recognised for your talent!
Many thanks!
Splendide !
I can't tell you how many times ive listened to this and practiced conducting it, its such a good peice and really should be performed. I play in a professional phillharmonic, and we could call and work something out?
I'm very glad that you like my piece! May I know what orchestra you are playing for? I really would like to hear my pieces life!
Interessant! Da kann ich gar keine Verbindung herstellen...
Can someone explain how it sounds like a film score at first but at 3:12, so the Allegro ma non-troppo, it feels way more symphonic? Is it because of more polyphony? Also, I love most of your buildups and themes, but you really need to develop them longer, unless that's your goal with a Fantasie. At 6:00 you are doing it nicely: giving that theme time to shine with different accompaniments. The listener doesn't want to have musical tapas dishes that get taken away from them when the plate is only half empty if you get what I mean. You have this beautiful progression at 7:35 that you deflate after a couple bars instead of repeating it an octave up and letting it build up to something majestic, which would be my choice. Then after that, you can ease into the next texture. I recommend that you give all those melodies or textures the 16 bars and preferably more, which they deserve. We won't get tired of them that quickly! Study the requiem of Verdi and Brahms and how they take their time Another great moment is those bars starting from no.291 with that delicious gallop in the brass. Damn, I felt that.
Many thanks for your comment and advices! I will follow them in future! As a guess film scores are less in musical complexity (without making film scoring bad!). Mostly movie sound tracks are very percussive or contains long holding notes to create tension. Presumably fast instrument changing, multi color counter points and other complexities would distract to much from the actually movie.
1:16 sound a bit like LOTR or something there, why?
I'm not very common to LOTR so I can't tell you why this part sounds similar. Maybe Howard Shore uses the same style of orchestration?
Gorgeous!
Thanks!
Really fantastic piece! Quite an amalgamation of various different composers' styles but it works wonderfully together, bravo!
Many thanks! I'm glad that you like my composition!
While I'm undecided about the musical ideas, this orchestration is brilliant and imaginative. Excellent display of the power of MuseScore 4!
Thanks! The motives I used are really simple and basic. My intention was to improve my orchestration skills and testing musescore so I used this simple idea and changed it several times for the different parts of this piece.
Composer myself - really love this. You must love Rachmaninov
Yes I do! ;-)
Could really imagine huge volume of water crashing down after hearing your water movement. I even thought of some great waterfalls like Niagara/Victoria falls during loud tutti rapid passages. You really hit the nail on Romantic style and the essence of tone poem! Wish you could get your local orchestra to play this piece, especially in front of a waterfall! PS probably it’s good for anyone new to music to listen to your works. At least they get to learn some geographical facts about water because of your program! Get Disney to create Fantasia animation using your work! 😂 One thing you could make your movement feel “more united” is, think about involving air to bring up water to the sky by using air leitmotifs as rising sequences (in the form of counterpoint maybe) for water rise up to once more fall down again as raindrops and the water movement would show it’s the water cycle. Also, you could represent the sunny weather at the shore by using fire leitmotifs in “warm-coloured” scales/harmony and broad tempo/rhythm.
As mentioned there are many ways to describe the elements. Your idea is fantastic and could fill a whole work. So feel free to create a symphonic poem to describe the circle of water in nature!
Thank you for sharing your work. It’s beautiful listening to different timbres to show your ideas about air and feels like how Richard Strauss may have composed a symphonic poem about air. You open up your own personal perspective about air for me to learn and take inspiration from. Im currently composing about wind and taken on different path in the styles of Debussy/Ravel and perhaps Prokofiev/Richard Strauss. Would like to talk to you to discuss about your compositional process for this symphony poem.
I'm glad that I could inspire you! Everyone has his own perspective of view of the four elements. It depends on your personality how you think about for example air. I tried to show up many different characters in every element but it still will be every's personal feeling what the element is like.
At 1:53 , it sounds like "Oogway Ascends", and the melody at 8:49 is very beautiful. This is a gorgeous sounding piece!!
You are not the first who mentioned the similarity to Oogway and I'm very happy to hear that you like my melody.
Hi, very happy to hear some piece for mandolin and orchestra! I play it (as well as piano), and I have always been looking for some mandolin and symphony orchestra pieces! Very beautiful work. A question: what vst did you use for the mandolin track?
Thanks! I 'm glad that you like the piece. I used the LABS Mandolin from Spitfire Audio. The quality and amount of articulations are not really satisfying in my opinion but it's the best free vst I could find in my research.
2:28 the piano left hand is simply impossible.
This part is quite easy to play. the left hand only plays the octave bass line, the right hand plays the chords and melody. it's just easier to read to write the chords in the second staff to avoid ledger lines.
As a songwriter of many years, I am impressed with this composition because it is carefully written to create separation of the orchestral sections and does what so many are afraid to do - LEAVE OPEN SECTIONS with sparse instrument performances. What great music does is let a piece BREATHE. In my humble opinion, it is often what you LEAVE OUT that makes music great. The listening experience is about accessibility to the subtle changes which can only come from restraint of the composer. I believe music of a symphony should employ a significant number of rests rather than a thunderstorm of dozens of instruments playing all at once. As in a great painting, all the colors don't have to present together to create a wonderful result. We humans can be drawn to appreciate music that respects our need for room to imagine. WELL DONE !
Thank you so much for your praising words!
dam didnt think id be crying but ok
Many thanks! I'm glad that my piece could touch your soul. Try out my other orchestral compositions, they are much more emotional than this in my opinion.
Hey Michael, this is piece is fantastic! We would love to feature it on our channel. Let us know if you’d like that and we’ll make a video for it.

AMAZING!!!! CONCERTOOOOO I'm currently using musescore and I was wondering how do you get the orchestra to sound so realistic with substance? Amazing work!!
Thank you very much! It took a while to find the right volume ballances, paneling and reverb settings. And even than at several parts I have to use hidden dynamics and tempo marks to get a more realistic sound...
I love this, very inspiring to me
Many thanks! I'm very glad to hear this!
Just wow.
